What is Factions?

With this plugin players group up in Factions. You claim land as your own and build your base. Factions is a self serve anti griefing system. Leaders control who can can edit their faction land.

Factions is also about diplomacy and war. You declare wars and forge alliances. You fight over land and manage your monetary expenses.

Install

Stop your server.
Put MassiveCore.jar in your plugins folder. Download MassiveCore here on BukkitDev.
Put Factions.jar in your plugins folder.
Start your server again.
Configure (Optional)

New In Factions 2.8

Reworked Commands - /f rank, /f invite, /f flag and /f perm.
Added Commands - /f setpower, /f status, /f unstuck and /f tt.
WorldGuard - Readded a simple integration.
Tab Completion - Tab completion now available for everything!
Interactive Text - Clickable buttons for list and help commands.
1.8 Titles - Optionally used for territory info.
Animals Flag - New flag similar to the Monsters flag.
Performance - Further work on improved performance.
Bug Fixes - Loads of minor bugs were fixed.

brettflan, Do you know how to turn off the chest protection? I would like to make it so that enemies can access other enemies chests as long as there isnt a block over it.

I just switched to FactionsChat and for now that seems to work fine. Thanks for your help anyways.

P.S. The author of PEx isn't gonna get away with that!

That's a feature which has been requested and considered and is certainly possible, but development of new features for the plugin on my part are very limited due to lack of time and interest. I mostly just maintain compatibility for new CraftBukkit releases and the features they might add. The other and original dev Olof apparently has even more limited time than me and might not be working on the plugin further for quite some time himself.
Our source is available and we do accept well-written pull requests if you or somebody else wants to give it a shot.

PEx ChatManager isn't updated to use the new(ish) Async chat events which were introduced in CraftBukkit 1.3.1, thus your problem. It still uses the old deprecated PlayerChatEvent:

Go nag the PEx author about updating that.

I am having problems with the chat. I use PermissionsEx and the included Chatmanager. They are both updated. I'm using the 1.6.9.2 build of Factions and still it doesn't work. Basically what happens is the prefixes by PermissionsEx don't appear and only the faction name is shown. I deleted the config file and made it generate again but now only the PermissionsEx prefix appears, and not the faction name. Any help?

Not sure if you saw my previous post, was wondering if this was already implemented?

"Why not make it so it charges for factions to make there faction peaceful or unpeaceful. And also a permission to make it so only they can make their faction peaceful and not others. The current permission allows it to change any factions status to peaceful."

You would simply specify it in the command. Ex. /f flag myfaction permanent true
You can see the structure for all new commands in the /f help listing.

You should read the user guide to learn how the plugin actually works.

That would depend on what message you get when one of you tries to hurt the other. If it is Factions stopping the damage you should get a message notifying you of why it isn't allowed. If you get no such message, it's not Factions stopping it.

HI, I am using this plugin (not sure if it's this plugin causing the problem) There's one person on my server that I can't hurt. He can't hurt me either. Our seperate factions are enemies though. He can hurt everyone else, and everyone else can hurt him, same goes for me. We just can't hurt eachother. Any idea what the problem may be?

Hey guys! I hope some of you can help me with the beta 1.7.8. I understand almost everything, but how do you change a /f flag status from yes to no. Like a factions permanent state to yes. Thank you.

Guess where I got that answer... Maybe the user guide, why don't you guys read up instead of assuming its just gonna work without setting it up. You might learn about stuff you didnt know.
