What is Factions?

With this plugin players group up in Factions. You claim land as your own and build your base. Factions is a self serve anti griefing system. Leaders control who can can edit their faction land.

Factions is also about diplomacy and war. You declare wars and forge alliances. You fight over land and manage your monetary expenses.

Install

Stop your server.
Put MassiveCore.jar in your plugins folder. Download MassiveCore here on BukkitDev.
Put Factions.jar in your plugins folder.
Start your server again.
Configure (Optional)

New In Factions 2.8

Reworked Commands - /f rank, /f invite, /f flag and /f perm.
Added Commands - /f setpower, /f status, /f unstuck and /f tt.
WorldGuard - Readded a simple integration.
Tab Completion - Tab completion now available for everything!
Interactive Text - Clickable buttons for list and help commands.
1.8 Titles - Optionally used for territory info.
Animals Flag - New flag similar to the Monsters flag.
Performance - Further work on improved performance.
Bug Fixes - Loads of minor bugs were fixed.

It doesn't work with Essentials Chat.. Then I can't have Group Manger.. Little Help over here..?

this may make me sounds a noob but .. are ppl not in lets say mt Faction land abull to breack stuff or build in my land? am pritty sure that never happend befor..unles its the 1.4.4 update for bukkit thats mesing it up?

Setting "chatTagFormat": "§8[§9%s§8]§7=" only makes the faction name appear in dark grey (no additional text/formatting appears). How would i go about adding fancy text formatting in factions tags to go with hero chat ?

I have read the FAQ's and followed the steps. It does not work. Even if they don't have the permission nodes, they still have access to it.

Could you perhaps have a True / False option in the config to use permission nodes or not?

Looks like maybe you specified an /f list page beyond the number available? i.e. 6 pages available and you run /f list 8? That is not a major problem, but it is definitely a bug. Thanks for the report, will be fixed in the next release.

If you run into other problems, please do report them. "many commands broken" tells me nothing useful. Nobody else has reported any new problems in 1.7.8 other than you, so I'd definitely like to hear the details in order to fix any existing bugs.

I just tested the new beta 1.7.8 build, and it is less stable for me then the 1.7.7 build in 1.4.2.

For some reason many commands have broken with the build, f list being the most obvious one, here is what the bug report says: http://pastebin.com/EjPDWWgu

im using herochat to have fancy text formatting like this:

[G]=[faction name]=[display name]=

problem is i dont want brackets to appear if the user doesnt have a faction. Im guessing i need to add a prefix and suffix inside faction's conf.json but i cant figure out where.

i've seen other servers get this right so there is a way but i dont know how. Please advice

I need help with chat in Factions. I want to get rid of the two < > that go around my name so i want it to say Staff [Owner] MrHunkymonkey12 not <Staff [Owner] MrHunkymonkey12> i use Herochat and this has never been a problem. Can someone help!

Hey, I am having a problem with Factions. I set the permission nodes for certain ranks for in Permissions Ex. But the groups I don't want them to have permission for Factions still have access to the commands.

Could someone please tell me how to turn off the chest protection? I would like to make it so that enemies can access other enemies chests as long as there isnt a block over it.

Questions about why faction chat was removed were answered twice just in the past 3 days or so of comments, so I'm not convinced how much effort you put into finding that info.

As for getting HeroChat working, the version 5.6.1 they have on BukkitDev is apparently very much outdated no matter the upload date they show for it. I'm not sure why that is. Try the old (but newer than on BukkitDev) 5.6.2 release of HeroChat Olof based his integration on, which we have in our libs:

https://github.com/MassiveCraft/Factions/raw/master/lib/Herochat.jar

If you can find a newer version than 5.6.2 I expect it might also work. If not, please provide a link for where you found it and we might update our integration accordingly.

All you had to do is write: Faction and alliance chat is removed in the 1.7.8 changelog

Because of this i had to get Hero Chat but guess what, that tags dont appear, even though the new settings are already included in hero chat's config.

I've seen it working on another server using 1.7.7 i dont know how they managed to get it working but a little documentations even if it means adding 1 line of text would really help here.

And you should understand my frustration after i have to spend 8 hours googling and idling in irc channels where i get no help.

This is the LEAST you can do, just saying
