EpicZones
EpicZones
Epicly fast and efficient polygon based area protection for your server.
This project is no longer being supported by jblaske, but I (courtartanis) will be resuming support for the plugin.
Please join me in wishing him the very best in health and happiness with all his future endeavors, new prospects and be glad to know that he and i will remain in contact and good friends.
Current Version: v0.37 (1.3.1-R2.0)
EpicZones was created to bridge the gap between existing are protection plugins and the needs of server administrators to not be restricted to cuboids or chunks. EpicZones provides server managers with the kind of area protection they most desire! Polygons and Circles! Easy to set up, easy to configure and super lightweight on your server's resources.
The EpicZones team aims to make EpicZones a must-have for any server administrator who wants full control over their server; protecting themselves, their servers, their players and most importantly of all - the work and dedication that their players put into a minecraft world.
Not only does it work for protection, it works with slight RPG aspects in terms of giving users or zone owners a sense of pride when they enter their own zones, knowing it is theirs and giving them enthusiasm to make it the best it can be; whilst knowing it can potentially be fully protected!
....not ONLY THAT.....but, due to Polygonal zones - your players don't have to build uniformed square buildings to comply with zoning regulations, how about a weird alien shape with a million sides? It'll take you a while to draw...but it's theoretically possible!
Features
- Polygonal and Circular area creation. (Not just cuboids!)
- In-game zone creation.
- Provide a Circular border to your map.
- Hierarchical Permissions with Child and Parent Zones. Eg. Build, Destroy or Entry control on a per zone/per group basis.
- Display Entering and Exiting messages in chat.
- Enhanced /who
- Advanced control of zone based regeneration
- Many zone specific controls for things like Fire, Explosions and Mob spawning control
- Zone specific command control to disallow the use of certain in-game chat commands whilst in a specific zone.
Plugin recommendations
- HeroChat
- Most perms plugins. PermissionsEX or bPerms are highly recommended.
Beta
If you are interested in participating in the beta versions of EpicZones to see and help shape the upcoming features, please send a PM to jblaske with information regarding your server (how many players, how many concurrent active players, server ip address).
Support
For any issues, please document them and create an EpicZones ticket. This will help ensure EpicZones gets restored to full working order as soon as possible.

Posted Jan 5, 2012Hey there developers.
I got exactly the same problem as nickbus.
Can´t create a zone. Can´t use the ezzone command or anything.
Still any idea what the problem is?

If you have the Op node '*' then you shouldn't need to add the EZ admin permission node :)
However, just for arguement's sake;
1) it may be worth you updating to the latest version anyway Newest Version 0.32
2) Remove the epiczones.admin node from your permissions config and just keep the asterisk ( * ) (That's assuming you are the server owner/admin anyway)
Please compress (zip/rar etc) your EpicZones plugin folder and send it to me, with your permissions config file and server startup log included.
Email to This Address
What you are describing is a bit of a strange problem, to be honest if it's giving you the help option and the command list - that indicates you have plugin permissions anyway. So, at this time i'm not quite sure why you can't use the zone create commands.

Posted Jan 3, 2012Sorry - I am failing straight away. I am using the following: craftbukkit 1.0.1 (recommended build) [git-Bukkit-1.0.1-R1-b1597jnks] EpicZones 0.31 PermissionsBukkit 1.2k Superperm/Permissions bridge enabled.
I have given myself the permission node "epiczones.admin" (and I have checked this via the permissions check command)
When I try to create my first zone, i type "/zone create test"
I then get the help message on the screen of how to use the zone commands.
I try to create a zone, and then use "/zone save", and again I get the same help message.
If i give the command "/zone list", it says that there are no zones created on the server.
So EpicZones is loaded and working (the list command says this); I have the admin permission, but it does not recognize me using the "zone create" command.
Any help for the stupid would be very welcome...

Easy workaround is creating your spawn area as a zone...wherever you set the spawn just zone it off as restricted.
Also, 0:0 is the very centre of the map from the moment it is generated, it cannot be moved. Whereas the spawn location can, so you could just do as above and set a radius making it a circular zone with the centre point being spawn area OR just create a massive poly :)
The way the in game co-ordinates work is calculating x amount of distance you are from that starting 0 point. EpicZones relies on the coords in order to calculate zone borders.

I've tried to talk to the author of dynmaps in the past, but have never gotten any replies. Maybe if some of the users of my plugins speak up, they might take notice.

Posted Dec 28, 2011Is there any chance that this plugin will be able to display the zones on dynmap in the future?

You don't have to click each individual block. You draw an outline. So to draw a square zone, you would only need to click for each corner. anything within that outline is part of the zone.

Posted Dec 23, 2011Can we have a function to edit the 0,0 cord of the Border? I'd like to move the spawn to another location and set the cords to there. :) being able to control who can pass the border is best function ever,

Posted Dec 23, 2011Is it possible to change whether everyone can build or no one can within seperate protections, rather than having to put everyones name in the owners box? Also thanks for the help you have given me so far!!!

Posted Dec 22, 2011Also, and I apologize for being a nuisance if this is covered but I couldn't seem to find it, is there a way to easily and quickly fill a zone being drawn? Say I want to make a zone that's 20x20, but instead of clicking on all locations, can I do something simple such as click the corners and type a fill command?

EDIT: Whoop, tried it with a non-admin and it works. Sweet, thanks. Also, is there a way to have a zone push someone out instead of teleporting them to spawn when entry is set to deny? I want to set up a zone that's fairly far away from spawn to disallow entry, but not have them teleport away. (EDIT2: I apologize again for having so many issues, but zone creation seems to not be working entirely... I'm trying to set up a certain square area with a ceiling and floor to have a message upon enter/exit, and I get the ceiling/floor set and message working fine, but even after selecting the X/Z coordinates within this square area, some coordinates don't seem to register as that zone; I notice the zone indicator in the top right corner goes back to "world"...)

Posted Dec 22, 2011@hedgiematty Build permissions work for groups.
Sub zones should work just fine as well. Many servers are using them. I do hope to improve the subzone detection in a future release, hopefully soon.

Posted Dec 22, 2011it seems to be working now as long as i dont make any zones apart from the global zones. I have changed the config so that no one can build by default but i have multi verse and it would be good if you could make one world where no one can build (apart from admins) and another where everyone can build. Is this possible at the moment?

Being an admin will negate that, if as an admin you have access to the epiczones.ignorepermissions flag. Which is granted by the epiczones.* flag.

Posted Dec 21, 2011EDIT: Messages work, but I can't seem to get perms to work, even when setting the perms for all groups. Does the fact I'm admin negate that? I at least want to test to see if the perms will work. (Using CB 1597, EZ 0.31, bPerms 1.9.2)

On the wiki page (http://code.google.com/p/team-eso/wiki/EpicZones) in the 'commands' section you will see a 'perm' command, that links to this page http://code.google.com/p/team-eso/wiki/EZ_Perm which gives you info on what you are looking for.

Posted Dec 19, 2011Perhaps I am completely retarded but i have read the wiki, and I see absolutely no command for disabling an area to be built in apart from /zone flag sanctuary. Is there another command besides that one? The wiki also says this
"Possible Permission Nodes
build The placement of blocks and pouring of buckets
destroy The destruction of blocks and the scooping of buckets
entry Player walk or teleport within a zone. "
but there is no commands listed for such actions, any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you for any help in advance
