EpicZones
EpicZones
Epicly fast and efficient polygon based area protection for your server.
This project is no longer being supported by jblaske, but I (courtartanis) will be resuming support for the plugin.
Please join me in wishing him the very best in health and happiness with all his future endeavors, new prospects and be glad to know that he and i will remain in contact and good friends.
Current Version: v0.37 (1.3.1-R2.0)
EpicZones was created to bridge the gap between existing are protection plugins and the needs of server administrators to not be restricted to cuboids or chunks. EpicZones provides server managers with the kind of area protection they most desire! Polygons and Circles! Easy to set up, easy to configure and super lightweight on your server's resources.
The EpicZones team aims to make EpicZones a must-have for any server administrator who wants full control over their server; protecting themselves, their servers, their players and most importantly of all - the work and dedication that their players put into a minecraft world.
Not only does it work for protection, it works with slight RPG aspects in terms of giving users or zone owners a sense of pride when they enter their own zones, knowing it is theirs and giving them enthusiasm to make it the best it can be; whilst knowing it can potentially be fully protected!
....not ONLY THAT.....but, due to Polygonal zones - your players don't have to build uniformed square buildings to comply with zoning regulations, how about a weird alien shape with a million sides? It'll take you a while to draw...but it's theoretically possible!
Features
- Polygonal and Circular area creation. (Not just cuboids!)
- In-game zone creation.
- Provide a Circular border to your map.
- Hierarchical Permissions with Child and Parent Zones. Eg. Build, Destroy or Entry control on a per zone/per group basis.
- Display Entering and Exiting messages in chat.
- Enhanced /who
- Advanced control of zone based regeneration
- Many zone specific controls for things like Fire, Explosions and Mob spawning control
- Zone specific command control to disallow the use of certain in-game chat commands whilst in a specific zone.
Plugin recommendations
- HeroChat
- Most perms plugins. PermissionsEX or bPerms are highly recommended.
Beta
If you are interested in participating in the beta versions of EpicZones to see and help shape the upcoming features, please send a PM to jblaske with information regarding your server (how many players, how many concurrent active players, server ip address).
Support
For any issues, please document them and create an EpicZones ticket. This will help ensure EpicZones gets restored to full working order as soon as possible.

So I tested that, drawing only the corners, and it worked like you said (though I noticed 3 corners were excluded, but one is included in the square, which resulted in a 3x3 drawn zone having an affected area of only 2x2). But I deleted the zone, created a new one that was slightly bigger, and it doesn't work. The name of the zone does not change, and I don't get any errors. It's like the zone tool just stopped working altogether, and any other zones after it won't work either. :( It feels like the plugin is being really really picky or something, or I'm not doing something consistent, but I hope I figure it out soon because I really want to use it.

Yeah that's definately possible, but since you can't edit Global zones in game - you have to modify them via FTP or the file manager within the host's control panel.
Just edit the permissions respectively, for example - permissions for a global zone might look like this;
default being the typical name of the default group assigned when people join. change it accordingly or even add groups of your own.
This particular permission line would stop all guests from building in that entire world, you could even do the same for members of the server.
Remember to reload the plugin or restart your server after making these changes, since manual changes to the configs arnt applied until you reload them.

I couldn't really tell you without looking at your configs... First, check the syntax. Internal zone permissions in the individual zone config files should look something like this.
Failing that;
1) Zip or Rar your EpicZones plugin folder and send it alongside your PEX permissions.yml. 2) Email to This Address

Posted Jan 6, 2012Top job gents.
I used to use EpicZones back in the day, and then we had no need for zones. That need has risen again and things have changed at great credit to you guys.
However, I cannot seem to get EpicZones to recognise my PermissionsEx groups like I did in the past. Not entirely sure of why. The permissions work fine when they are player based, but I cannot find on the wiki (albeit outdated) or responses in this thread of any issues with this or solutions. Apologies if this is a purely obvious fix that I missed upon being stupid, however I am just added a build/deny permission for our group "veteran" for example. I primarily edit my zones through the .yml files.
Thanks

Posted Jan 5, 2012Love the plugin, have a quick issue to report. I changed the version on the language file, and the server outputs this: Language File Loaded [EN_US.txt] Error starting: for input string: "0.1" Disabling Plugin Version 0.32 is disabled.
What can i do to fix this? Thank you!

Sorry about that folks, i forgot to fix my language files for the update. If you go into your language folder and change the version on the file to 32 instead of 31, you should be good to go.

Posted Jan 5, 2012Umm... bug/malfunction in 0.32?
On server-startup, the plugin massively (!) spams my server-logfile with the following line:
Over 6500 lines. Seriously. After this, the log says:
I don't think this is some server-related bug, i guess just updating the language file(s) of this plugin will do :-)
I'd also appreciate just the updated language-folder itself, if this is easier to provide.
Further information:
- I'm a little confused by your version description. on the forum thread, you write it's for build 1597. right here, it says v0.32 is for CraftBukkit-version 1.0.0.
Well, i am running CraftBukkit 1.0.1 RC1 - wich is build 1597. Something does not match here...
- If you like to, i'd buy a ticket - but i guess you'll be able to fix this easily :-)
- I did not try to just change the comment in the language files to version 0.32 - maybe you just check this number (just guessing...), but this would be a bad idea if the file content actually changed since version 0.31 (that's the current one). Should i try? Any comment on this? :-)
Thank you in advance, first for creating and maintaining this plugin, second for fixing this soon. Greets!

I've acctualy edited one of their dynmap plugins (think it was for WorldGuard) and edited it to fit EpicZones: http://map.moincraft.com/
However, it's not completly finished, but it works fine. If you wish, I can finish it and publish it, that is if it's okay for you.
Anyway, I'm having problems with permissions, I'm using PermissionsBukkit and giving an group these permissions:
moderator: permissions: essentials.*: true epiczones.admin: true inheritance: - user
However, this is not working, at all. What am I doing wrong?
