What is CustomSpawners?
CustomSpawners lets you make any block a mob spawner! These spawners can be of any type, have many configurable properties, and can be hidden because materials like stone, grass, even air can be a spawner block! After creation, you can use it like in-game MCEdit to make custom mob spawner blocks too!
The mob types can be customized as well. Create mobs for your spawners like giant slimes that have only half a heart of health, different colored sheep, and if you want the ultimate boss, try giants or charged creepers with damage resistance and regeneration potion effects! You can even change how mobs take and deal damage!
Some Ideas for CustomSpawners:
- Make multiplayer dungeons with mobs that only appear when you get close!
- Make arenas with powerful waves of mobs!
- Create puzzles that won't turn off a spawner until solved!
- Create entities that can only be damaged from certain items or objects!
- Make ultra-dynamic dungeons that change depending on the amount of players in them!
- Make Custom Mob Spawners in-game! (No MCEdit required!)

If you make a video about CustomSpawners, let me know and I could post it here!
Installing
Simply download the CustomSpawners jar file from the download button above, and drop it in you plugins directory. Make sure you only have one version of CustomSpawners in the directory. After that, you can refer to the configuration page on the wiki for configuration of the plugin.
Basic Usage
I strongly recommend watching the tutorial series! I go into much more depth there.
To make a spawner, follow these steps!
- Login to your server.
- Run the command "/cse create <type of entity>" where "<type of entity>" is a mob like a pig or zombie. Note the GOLD ID number printed on screen.
- Select the entity with "/cse select <id>" where "<id>" is the golden ID given to you.
- You can set properties to the mob now, all of which are listed on the wiki.
- Now look at the block you want to make a spawner on, and run "/css create". You will see a ID number in gold for the spawner too.
- Select the spawner with "/css select <id>" where "<id>" is the golden spawner ID given to you.
- Make the spawner work in any light level by running "/css maxlight 15".
- Turn on the spawner with "/css on" and watch the mobs spawn!
Some other useful commands:
- "/customspawners" - displays the plugin info, and provides links to the main page for CustomSpawners and thebiologist13's BukkitDev profile.
- "/css on [id]" - Turns a spawner on.
- "/css off [id]" - Turns a spawner off.
- "/css listall" - list all the existing spawners and locations.
- "/cse listall" - list all the existing entities and their names if they have one.
- "/css setname [id]" - gives a spawner a name so it is easier to find.
- "/cse setname [id]" - gives an entity a name so you can identify it easier.

Posted Jun 15, 2013I've begun experimenting with this plugin and I have to say it's a wonderful addition to my server. My only problem is, when I use /cse sethelmet 0 310%0 to set a diamond helmet that doesn't drop on death, it drops 100% of the time. Is this a bug or am I using an incorrect syntax?

Thanks for the info. I got around the problem by keeping all the chunks loaded permanently. I think my ram can handle it :)
You won't believe how many spawning algorithms i've tried. Still kinda surprised that a spawner changing plugin could populate my entire map

Do you move really far away from the spawner? If the spawner is in an unloaded chunk, it will stop spawning. Also, moving outside the "max player distance" will stop spawning. Several commands like "/css convert" may also stop spawning. Lastly, if you break the spawner block and "deactivateOnBreak" is true in config, it will stop. Try some of those. :)
I can help better if you tell me more about what properties you have set to the spawner and what the environment around the spawner block is as well. Thanks!
@klopolklopol
Could you create a ticket for this and fill out the information there? Thanks :)
@MelonCraftServer
Yes, spawners don't spawn anymore if the chunk that the spawner is in is unloaded. If you want a really big area to spawn in, I would make a spawner "grid" with spawners spread out every 100 blocks or so. Make sure that max player distance is very large too.
The capped property means that once the max mobs has been reached, the spawner removes itself from the server. As long as it is below the max mobs though, it will continue to spawn. Also, I believe CustomSpawners will untrack mobs if they are in an unloaded chunk.
What you may want to do is make the grid pattern I mentioned above, and then have the max mobs limit small, but spawn fast. I think that would give you a uniform distribution of zombies over a large area. :)

Posted Jun 14, 2013I am using this plugin to spawn mobs over a HUGE area (about 1500x1000) for my zombies server, however, the plugin's area spawn system is not working. Could it be that the spawner is too far away and is not loaded? It seems to have issues spawning correctly when the spawner is set to spawn over massive areas.
Also, does "capped" mean that the spawner will only spawn the max mobs and stop COMPLETELY? If some of the spawned mobs are killed, will it continue to spawn to reach the max again? It seems that turning off "capped" lets the plugin spawn infinite amounts of mobs, as my population increases massively over the maxmobs limit after a while, however, with the cap on, they either don't spawn or only spawn very little, even though my maxmobs is at a few hundred.

Yep! :D
Just hold it then add it as a drop with "/cse adddrop [id] hand". Make sure that use drops is set to true.
@xlii1356
Yeah, the TNT is so customized damage and explosive yield can be handled.
@deleted_10786114
You can spawn splash potions by making a "potion" type entity. Then, set the potion type to whatever you want with "/cse potiontype [id] <effect> <level> <duration in ticks>". You can then spawn these with a spawner. :)

I've noticed my creepers take like an extra half-second to explode? Its odd, they puff up, then just pause for a few ticks, then explode. Is there a setting that could be causing this or, better yet, preventing?
EDIT: Apparently my creepers are spawning primed tnt when they 'explode' instead of exploding liek normal?
EDIT2: setfuselength, found it. FYI, fuse length zero, explode on spawn... awesome

you can do that. Set the drops using the 'hand' option and hold your custom item

Posted Jun 11, 2013For item drops, I'd love a way to make the item drop have a custom name/lore (e.g. with an anvil). If this is already in the plugin, please point me in the right direction. I'm not sure if this would be helpful, but I thought I'd include it: http://ess.khhq.net/wiki/Item_Meta#Name
Reason being, I'm making a "pit of 100 trials" gamemode for my server, and I'd like mobs to drop a "Key" (aka tripwire hook).
That would be amazing, and thanks for the plugin!

It's fine :P
I will work on getting WorldGuard to work better with CustomSpawners for the next update.
@Hiddengold
There isn't a command built directly into CustomSpawnersEco for this, however, you could set the worth of a spawner to 0 and restrict the permission. I will work on an actual "give" command in CustomSpawners though. :)
Also, I am not sure if CustomSpawners mobs are affected by Towny or WorldEdit, there is always "/css removeallmobs" though. I can work on integration with both though.
SilkSpawners should be able to pick up any converted (mob spawner block) spawner. I don't know if SilkSpawners will carry over the custom spawner data when it is picked up though. I can work on it though. :D
Lastly, you definitely can stack mobs with CustomSpawners! Look at the command "/cse rider [id] <another entity>" on the wiki. It allows you to put one CustomSpawners entity on top of another.
@Fire_Feather
That is strange, they should never drop just vanilla items. What inventory properties do you have on? This includes the mob equipment, "usecustomdrops", and the drop list.
@Cjfchris1
Do you kill all of the mobs that the spawner has created? If the spawner reaches the max mobs, it will stop spawning.
@XI_NANU_IX
There isn't an implementation for this right now, but I've thought about adding it soon. You also might be able to do it when MC 1.6 comes out with item attributes. :)
Thanks Everyone! thebiologist13

Posted Jun 9, 2013This is excellent and I would love to use it on my server but I had a few questions.
Lets say I wanted to allow people to donate for a custom spawner, would there be a command I could issue to place one of whatever type in their inventory? For example /give (name) PigguSpawner. I saw the Customspawnerseco but no mention of a command like this.
Are these spawners affected by towny mob toggles and WG butcher?
Can these spawners be picked up with silkspawners?
Can customspawners be used to create stacked mobs?
Would appreciate the info :)

Hello again! I tryed the way you said, nothing new,it's not working ^_^' I don't know where should be the problem, the "forcespawn" works with the multiverse feature to disable monsters but not with worldguard. Sorry to be annoying with worldguard =p

For the command block, just create a spawner separate from it, then enter a command like "/css forcespawn t:<whatever spawner>". That should make the command block affect the spawner and when it is triggered by redstone, execute it.
If it doesn't work, I will tweak how CustomSpawners works in the next update to use WorldGuard better. :)
@RhapidFyre
You have to add what item to have a certain drop percentage, for example, if you wanted "pathwalker" to drop 2 diamonds with a 10% chance, you would run "/cse adddrop pathwalker diamond%10 2".
@xKingOfChaosx
The name is not over the mob head unless "showname" is set to true with "/cse showname true".
To make mobs not burn during the day, I would use the damage blacklist feature. For this, first run "/cse useblacklist true". Then, run "/cse addblacklist FIRE_TICK". This will make the mob immune from damage to fire ticks, like sunlight. :D
Thanks! thebiologist13
