What is CustomSpawners?
CustomSpawners lets you make any block a mob spawner! These spawners can be of any type, have many configurable properties, and can be hidden because materials like stone, grass, even air can be a spawner block! After creation, you can use it like in-game MCEdit to make custom mob spawner blocks too!
The mob types can be customized as well. Create mobs for your spawners like giant slimes that have only half a heart of health, different colored sheep, and if you want the ultimate boss, try giants or charged creepers with damage resistance and regeneration potion effects! You can even change how mobs take and deal damage!
Some Ideas for CustomSpawners:
- Make multiplayer dungeons with mobs that only appear when you get close!
- Make arenas with powerful waves of mobs!
- Create puzzles that won't turn off a spawner until solved!
- Create entities that can only be damaged from certain items or objects!
- Make ultra-dynamic dungeons that change depending on the amount of players in them!
- Make Custom Mob Spawners in-game! (No MCEdit required!)

If you make a video about CustomSpawners, let me know and I could post it here!
Installing
Simply download the CustomSpawners jar file from the download button above, and drop it in you plugins directory. Make sure you only have one version of CustomSpawners in the directory. After that, you can refer to the configuration page on the wiki for configuration of the plugin.
Basic Usage
I strongly recommend watching the tutorial series! I go into much more depth there.
To make a spawner, follow these steps!
- Login to your server.
- Run the command "/cse create <type of entity>" where "<type of entity>" is a mob like a pig or zombie. Note the GOLD ID number printed on screen.
- Select the entity with "/cse select <id>" where "<id>" is the golden ID given to you.
- You can set properties to the mob now, all of which are listed on the wiki.
- Now look at the block you want to make a spawner on, and run "/css create". You will see a ID number in gold for the spawner too.
- Select the spawner with "/css select <id>" where "<id>" is the golden spawner ID given to you.
- Make the spawner work in any light level by running "/css maxlight 15".
- Turn on the spawner with "/css on" and watch the mobs spawn!
Some other useful commands:
- "/customspawners" - displays the plugin info, and provides links to the main page for CustomSpawners and thebiologist13's BukkitDev profile.
- "/css on [id]" - Turns a spawner on.
- "/css off [id]" - Turns a spawner off.
- "/css listall" - list all the existing spawners and locations.
- "/cse listall" - list all the existing entities and their names if they have one.
- "/css setname [id]" - gives a spawner a name so it is easier to find.
- "/cse setname [id]" - gives an entity a name so you can identify it easier.

Well, when I started it was pretty easy for me, as I am fairly fluent with plugins like this. A couple of things newbies don't often understand, is that plugins like this CAN crash your game if you do something crazy (/cse create creeper /css create /css setrate 1 etc.). So maybe when doing something like /css setrate 1 have a warning that says "WARNING!: Setting rate to this low without having a limiter can crash your server!". Something that might make it easier for map-makers such as myself, would be maybe on the wiki "Vanilla" or "Plugin-Only" before the commands, it's easier than asking you each time XD
Thanks! -Eco

Yeah, I agree that CustomSpawners is quite difficult to understand. I try to make it as easy as I can to use, however it is hard when I need to include commands for pretty much every possible property in game!
I do have a tutorial series on my YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7PtwLM1og9oiejuQ7RAAE0spHmIqLBKx), but it is still unfinished.
If anyone has ideas on what would make CustomSpawners easier to use or what I can do to explain everything well, I am all ears! :D

Posted May 14, 2013The plugin is so advanced and has great potential, but the point is it is so difficult that even I have problem with that ( and I am a developer ). Maybe a video for beginners will be useful.

Hi!
If you didn't have an entity selected, that command would assume that you meant to apply the default item (air) to be the hand of entity 1. Try selecting the entity first. Or, you can use "/cse sethand t:[your entity] hand". :D

Wow! I am glad you have found so many uses! It sounds really cool! :D
For your question about spawn on pulse, changing the "spawn on pulse" property to true automatically tells CustomSpawners to turn on the normal "spawn on redstone" property. If you just want pulses, you can turn redstone triggered to false and keep spawn on pulse set to true. :)
Glad you like it!

Posted May 10, 2013No questions here, as everything works as expected. Just wanted to take a minute to thank you for this awesome plugin. It's doubtlessly one of the more difficult ones to learn and master, but once you figure it out, it's pure joy. It has lots of uses, but for us, it's mostly an extremely powerful addition to our dungeon-making suite (together with worldedit, otherdrops for unique drops with unique effects, and a few others).
Good tip for anyone who might read this: With this plugin, you can create epic bossfights with falling entities (like water, lava, or blocks), and make them completely self-resetting/cleaning by rigging a worldedit command to the exit that runs as OP and reverts a given area to air, for example.
Actually, one little question remains: When I set a spawner to be triggered on redstone pulse, it still just uses the normal redstone cycle (waits X seconds, spawns entities, waits agan, loops). Is there a way to really turn them into pulse-activated one-shot spawners? Doesn't matter if there isn't, since you can, for example, just wire a 1s pulse to a 1s spawning rate, but it'd be interesting to know!

Hi!
Thanks! I am glad you like CustomSpawners!
For the questions, I just looked and found why your drop percentages didn't work. I just had to make a small change to fix it and it will work for the next update. :) In the meantime, you could turn the "use custom drops" property on (which has drop chances working) to overwrite the inventory drops.
Also, for making a lot of spawners, I am currently working a feature to allow for massive spawner modification. It will allow you to assign spawners to groups and modify all the spawners in a group at the same time. However, right now you can do faster spawner creation by using the "/css clone" command. Full usage is on the wiki, but basically it creates a copy of the specified spawner where you are looking at. That way you can have a few template spawners with spawn areas in a set area and copy-paste them effectively. :D
Thanks!

Hello!
Thanks for telling me about this! I will fix it immediately. It seems to just be a problem with the way CustomSpawners recognizes expressions, an easy fix. :)

Hey!
Oh, I forgot to add that as a feature in v0.3.4, I will add it for v0.3.5. In the meantime, you could make a spawner to create the converted minecart, except have the spawner use a 1x1x1 spawn area over a track so it always will spawn there. :)
Thanks!

Ok, thanks, I will test that. But is there a way to directly convert a spawner into a minecart without making a minecart spawner? Because it's a little easier than spawning minecarts then pushing them onto the tracks XD. Thanks.

Hey Again!
I think I see your problem. So you had a CustomSpawners spawner which spawned pigs, then you made that into a minecart. After that, you set the original spawner to spawn these minecarts, right? Or at least, another recursive spawning thing? Yeah that would crash it... XD
I will add a safeguard against recursive spawns for v0.3.4. In the meantime, I would suggest making 2 separate spawners to make firework spawning minecarts like you wanted. One would be a firework type custom spawner, the other would create spawner minecarts. So what you do is convert the firework spawner to a minecart, then set the other spawner to make these. :)

Yep! I accept donations over PayPal. Just above the download button and below your profile there is a donate button for CustomSpawners. Thanks! I will have an update very soon too. :D
I hope I could help!

Hi. What I did was make the spawner THEN converted it with /convert minecart. It apparently mode another spawner which I converted, which then crashed. I would *assume* that it tried to make a *deep breath* make a spawner which spawns spawners which spawn spawner minecarts which spawn pigs.... lol XD Thanks

Alright, thanks for all the extra information! It helps a ton. I will take another look at the code. But it looks like you first converted the CustomSpawners spawner to a vanilla mob spawner block, then converted that to a minecart, correct? If so, that might be the problem. Try converting directly from a CustomSpawners spawner to a minecart.
@ziggston
Hmm, that is really peculiar. It might just be an anomaly. Does you server have any spawner files that were created a really long time ago though? Like v0.1 or v0.0.6? If you do, try cutting them out of the spawners directory temporarily and seeing if everything loads then. :)
@R3tr0Sl1m3
@broluigi
Alright, I will try to update as soon as I can, I have been really busy lately!
Thanks Everyone! :D
