What is CustomSpawners?
CustomSpawners lets you make any block a mob spawner! These spawners can be of any type, have many configurable properties, and can be hidden because materials like stone, grass, even air can be a spawner block! After creation, you can use it like in-game MCEdit to make custom mob spawner blocks too!
The mob types can be customized as well. Create mobs for your spawners like giant slimes that have only half a heart of health, different colored sheep, and if you want the ultimate boss, try giants or charged creepers with damage resistance and regeneration potion effects! You can even change how mobs take and deal damage!
Some Ideas for CustomSpawners:
- Make multiplayer dungeons with mobs that only appear when you get close!
- Make arenas with powerful waves of mobs!
- Create puzzles that won't turn off a spawner until solved!
- Create entities that can only be damaged from certain items or objects!
- Make ultra-dynamic dungeons that change depending on the amount of players in them!
- Make Custom Mob Spawners in-game! (No MCEdit required!)

If you make a video about CustomSpawners, let me know and I could post it here!
Installing
Simply download the CustomSpawners jar file from the download button above, and drop it in you plugins directory. Make sure you only have one version of CustomSpawners in the directory. After that, you can refer to the configuration page on the wiki for configuration of the plugin.
Basic Usage
I strongly recommend watching the tutorial series! I go into much more depth there.
To make a spawner, follow these steps!
- Login to your server.
- Run the command "/cse create <type of entity>" where "<type of entity>" is a mob like a pig or zombie. Note the GOLD ID number printed on screen.
- Select the entity with "/cse select <id>" where "<id>" is the golden ID given to you.
- You can set properties to the mob now, all of which are listed on the wiki.
- Now look at the block you want to make a spawner on, and run "/css create". You will see a ID number in gold for the spawner too.
- Select the spawner with "/css select <id>" where "<id>" is the golden spawner ID given to you.
- Make the spawner work in any light level by running "/css maxlight 15".
- Turn on the spawner with "/css on" and watch the mobs spawn!
Some other useful commands:
- "/customspawners" - displays the plugin info, and provides links to the main page for CustomSpawners and thebiologist13's BukkitDev profile.
- "/css on [id]" - Turns a spawner on.
- "/css off [id]" - Turns a spawner off.
- "/css listall" - list all the existing spawners and locations.
- "/cse listall" - list all the existing entities and their names if they have one.
- "/css setname [id]" - gives a spawner a name so it is easier to find.
- "/cse setname [id]" - gives an entity a name so you can identify it easier.

Oh thanks, that'd be great. I am using Minecraft 1.5.1 with OptiFine 1.5.1. I am (for some unknown reason O_o, I don't know why...)using Bukkit 1.5 R0.1 #2687. I created a pig entity with no mods (I was testing), created a spawner, then typed /css convert, it created another spawner, so I converted that, but after it spawned and every time I came on, Minecraft crashed. Thanks! P.S If this bug is fixed I'll use it to spawn thing such as fireworks & fire charges for my map.

Hi!
I will add a command to just a minecart entity, it should be pretty easy. :)
As for your minecraft crash, could you tell me what version of Bukkit and Minecraft you are running? Also, what type of entity (or entities) was the spawner you were trying to convert spawning (i.e. pigs, skeletons, etc.), and was there any other data applied to the entity from an external program/plugin (like higher than level 10 enchants from MCEdit or entities like lightning or something)?
If you can provide me with that I can probably fix it. :)
Thanks!

Posted Apr 30, 2013Hi. I've been testing with /convert minecart, and it doesn't work. When I tried it it crashes my minecraft for "error rendering title entity", I'm assuming the command somehow spawns a non-existent entity, causing Minecraft to crash. It would be great if you could make a command which when you convert a spawner, instead of making it a spawner, it turns it into a minecart with spawner. Thanks!

Hi! This isn't a feature right now, but I will try to add it in. It is a really good idea!
@therennon
CustomSpawners has perms, they are just listed on the Wiki Commands & Permissions page here: https://github.com/thebiologist13/CustomSpawners/wiki/Commands-and-Permissions
The permissions for each command are in italics.

Posted Apr 28, 2013Is there an ability to create 1 time use spawner? Example: Want to sell a spawner through economy plugin. User buys a pig spawner that is configured to spawn 20 pigs, once all 20 are used up, the spawner is inactive or auto removes.

@Swickster
Alright, I will add these features in. :)
@bossomeness
Yep! You can spawn dropped items by making a "item" type entity. Then, all you have to do is hold the item you want to make dropped in your hand and run "/cse itemtype [id] hand" where "[id]" is the ID number if the dropped item entity. I have more information about it on the FAQ.
Hope I could help! thebiologist13

Hello!
This isn't an implemented feature right now, but I don't think it would be too hard to add next update, if you'd like me too. :D

Posted Apr 24, 2013Is it possible to make spawners / entitys permissions
like i can make 10 spawners with 10 diff entitys
and i can give permissions to a person only to only work with 1 of them like customspawners.entities.select.1 customspawners.spawners.setlocation.1
I like to be able to make some custom spawners and give them to people but without making it possible for others to move or change them without permissions

Hi!
I don't think this feature would be too hard to add. All I would have to add is one property and a command to set it. Something like "spawn on enter". If you still want this added, let me know. :D

Thanks, but after more testing, I've realized Mob Spawn isn't working for me either. My search for a "player-approach-triggered" spawn plugin continues.
Now I understand that your plugin may not be what I'm looking for, and I'm okay with that. I do still appreciate your efforts and think it is incredible, even if it doesn't do exactly what I want.
Just in case you're still interested, I'll be clear about what I'm looking for: The plugin I want would be constantly watching for players to enter the set area, without having to use any trap mechanisms (because I could wire-up dispensers with eggs for that). When a player approaches the area, it would instantly spawn the mobs and then start its "cooldown" timer. Before the timer expires it will not spawn again. After that timer expires, it will reset its functionality.
I don't know if that's even possible with your plugin, and I'm not going to demand you change things to work that way just for me. I just wanted to make sure it was clearly understood what I'm looking for so your time isn't wasted.
Thank you again for all your work on this plugin.

@cyberriot
I could add a property to make a CustomSpawnes only track mobs within it's spawn radius. It would behave more like the spawners in MobSpawn and vanilla spawners then. :)

Looks like this plugin might do what we're looking for. I haven't thoroughly tested it yet, but it looks good so far.

Edit: Never mind. mobspawn doesn't do it either.

Hello!
I would highly suggest experimenting with the "on redstone power" property, "redstone triggered" property, and max/min player distance. You could then make an average rate, like 100 ticks, but have redstone signals trigger additional spawns.
The other option is to use spawn modifiers. With this, you could have the rate reliant on the players in the area like so: "/css addmodifier [id] rate=120*e^(-0.2*@nearplayers)". This will make the spawner decrease the rate exponentially related to the amount of players nearby. For example, 1 player is 5 seconds, 2 players is a little under 4 seconds, and so on.
More modifier information is found on the wiki. :D
@janes0007
You probably have the light level too low. Try running "/css maxlight 15" with your spawner selected. :)
@zag09
I plan on making a video on my YouTube channel explaining this in-depth soon, but basically, you create a "FallingBlock" type entity, and then run "/cse itemtype water" with the falling block entity selected. Then you can just make a spawner for it. :)
Thanks Everyone!
