What is CustomSpawners?
CustomSpawners lets you make any block a mob spawner! These spawners can be of any type, have many configurable properties, and can be hidden because materials like stone, grass, even air can be a spawner block! After creation, you can use it like in-game MCEdit to make custom mob spawner blocks too!
The mob types can be customized as well. Create mobs for your spawners like giant slimes that have only half a heart of health, different colored sheep, and if you want the ultimate boss, try giants or charged creepers with damage resistance and regeneration potion effects! You can even change how mobs take and deal damage!
Some Ideas for CustomSpawners:
- Make multiplayer dungeons with mobs that only appear when you get close!
- Make arenas with powerful waves of mobs!
- Create puzzles that won't turn off a spawner until solved!
- Create entities that can only be damaged from certain items or objects!
- Make ultra-dynamic dungeons that change depending on the amount of players in them!
- Make Custom Mob Spawners in-game! (No MCEdit required!)
Getting Started

If you make a video about CustomSpawners, let me know and I could post it here!
Installing
Simply download the CustomSpawners jar file from the download button above, and drop it in you plugins directory. Make sure you only have one version of CustomSpawners in the directory. After that, you can refer to the configuration page on the wiki for configuration of the plugin.
Basic Usage
I strongly recommend watching the tutorial series! I go into much more depth there.
To make a spawner, follow these steps!
- Login to your server.
- Run the command "/cse create <type of entity>" where "<type of entity>" is a mob like a pig or zombie. Note the GOLD ID number printed on screen.
- Select the entity with "/cse select <id>" where "<id>" is the golden ID given to you.
- You can set properties to the mob now, all of which are listed on the wiki.
- Now look at the block you want to make a spawner on, and run "/css create". You will see a ID number in gold for the spawner too.
- Select the spawner with "/css select <id>" where "<id>" is the golden spawner ID given to you.
- Make the spawner work in any light level by running "/css maxlight 15".
- Turn on the spawner with "/css on" and watch the mobs spawn!
Some other useful commands:
- "/customspawners" - displays the plugin info, and provides links to the main page for CustomSpawners and thebiologist13's BukkitDev profile.
- "/css on [id]" - Turns a spawner on.
- "/css off [id]" - Turns a spawner off.
- "/css listall" - list all the existing spawners and locations.
- "/cse listall" - list all the existing entities and their names if they have one.
- "/css setname [id]" - gives a spawner a name so it is easier to find.
- "/cse setname [id]" - gives an entity a name so you can identify it easier.

Posted Mar 28, 2013ive got another Problem with the spawn of ThrownEnderPearls. When im alone at the Server everything works fine... until someone else logs on. If theres someone else on the Server the endepearls do not work until the other player is within spawndistance of the enderpearl spawner. And if the other player is within spawndistance of the enderpearl spawner it seems to be random who is getting ported. i guess its because the spawner doesnt knows who triggered it. i made this: Picture with redstonetriggered spawners. i use 1 entity (thrown ender pearl) and 4 spawners to spawn the ender pearl at different positions. grey plates warp you back to the entrance and they all trigger the same spawner. the wooden plates with a coloured dot on em port you to the other same coloured dot plate and have one spawner each.
As i sayd. Everything works fine until someone else joins the server. Then nothing happens until the other guy is within spawnrange... this is really strange...
@XAgent isnt this set by offset of the XPOrb?

Heya thebiologist13
Thx for the quick response! selecting the area by using the wooden shovel also doesnt works for the spawn to set the area to only one block. It seems, that the item spawns at the selected Block + Block East, South East and South of it.
While testing around with the spawnarea i noticed, that each time you change the spawnarea you've to use /css spawnarea false and then /css spawnarea true to apply the changes.

Posted Mar 28, 2013Hi there, I can't find out how you are supposed to make the drop chances whatever, how do you? Also, could you please make it so when you type for example, /cse setname &cHerobrine, it will make the "&" a "§"? Thanks.

Hi!
You could try selecting the spawn area with the selection tool (wooden shovel by default) instead of using the commands. It behaves exactly the same as WorldEdit's wooden axe tool. Try selecting the block you want it spawn at by left and right clicking on it (so if you wanted to spawn it on top of the table, put a piece of dirt on top or something then select it), then removing the block (so it has room to spawn).
If that doesn't work, I will take another look at the algorithm I use for spawn areas. :)
I hope I could help! thebiologist13
P.S. I might take a few days to respond, I am still not connected to the internet a lot of the time until the beginning of April.

Posted Mar 26, 2013@DerylXOXO Okay... i managed to spawn the potion i want by giving the Offset with /cse itemtyp 0 373:101 for example. But now ive got another problem. When i define a specific spawn area (1 block) with /css pos1 0 , /css pos2 0 and /css spawnarea true, i still need at least 3 blocks near the defined block to spawn an item there. Heres a Picture for example: Picture The region above the red Block is marked as spawnarea. Left side of the Picture will spawn the Potion, right side doesnt. The reason why i want it to spawn on only one block is, that i want to spawn the Potion on a table. but if i select the table as spawnarea the potion often spawns near the table.

Posted Mar 26, 2013First: Awesome work!
How do i create a Potion spawner? I want to define a specific potion wich should drop as pickable item above a block. i alreade created splashpotions, but everytime i want to create a pickable potion only a water bottle drops. i already tryed to change the items damage value because wiki says that the potion type is stored in there, but nothing helps! ;( I hope someone can help me.

Posted Mar 24, 2013Love this plugin been using it since it came out, but I have been running into some problems lately. When I use v0.3 on 1.5.0, the plugin disables itself on startup and says "custom spawners v0.3 does not support this version of bukkit" So I thought I will just go back to v0.2.1 but then I get a unhandled exception when I try to create a spawner, like I can create an entity just fine but when I do /css I et the error, on v0.2.1

The command you want is /entities setusingdrops [id] true
This will set the entity to be using custom drops, preventing it from dropping items you have it wearing. You can then add drops to its drop table if desired with /entities setdrop [id] [itemid] [amount] or /entities adddrop [id] [itemid] [amount] etc.

Posted Mar 21, 2013Er...When ever I rename mobs with '§', the server will kicked me for “Illegal characters". Wondering how you guys fix this 0.0
BTW, I can't give my mobs a "Herobrine's head" with NBT tag SkullOwner = Herobrine, however hard I tried...../cse head hand will only put a normal player head on them :(

Posted Mar 20, 2013Thanks I get it setup!
When I try to use it with customspawnerseco I get an internal error when I get to the part where I do "/cseco setworth id"
One other thing you might look into.
Before all the 1.5 stuff I had this working with customspawnerseco, but when players tried to use the command to buy the spawner it said they didn't have permssion to buy it even though I added the buy permission to the default group.
