WorldEdit Selection Visualizer
WorldEditSelectionVisualizer
1.9 Compatibility
The latest download is not compatible with Minecraft/Bukkit/Spigot version 1.9 yet and I'm not sure if I want to continue development of the plugin. ZathrusWriter made an unofficial update of the plugin that seems to work fine (although I haven't tested it). You can find the download for that here.
Overview
WorldEditSelectionVisualizer (WESV) is essentially the famous WorldEditCUI mod in the form of a bukkit plugin, which means that players don't need to install anything on their client.
Features
- Spawns particles around WorldEdit selections so players can see them
- No client mod required
- Supports cuboid, sphere, ellipsoid, cylinder and polygon selections
- Use /wesv to toggle the visualizer
- Only show the selection when holding the selection item
- Configurable particle effect
- Force large particle distances to see your selection from far away (requires ProtocolLib)
- Prevent players from spawning too many particles when selecting huge regions
- Highly customizable for the performance of your server
Documentation
Detailed documentation about the available permissions and configuration options is available on the documentation page.
ProtocolLib
This plugin has optional support for ProtocolLib (Jenkins build #74+). If you want to see particles from distances > 16, you need to have it installed and enabled in the configuration (see Documentation).

Credits and Metrics
This plugin uses darkblade12's ParticleEffect library to spawn the particles. It also anonymously collects statistics via MCStats Plugin Metrics. You can read about the data that is being collected here. You can see the statistics here.

Posted Dec 30, 2014Great, Where is the source so I can make a temp 1.8 update?
For now I used a java decompiler and successfully updated it to 1.8 but obviously I won't share it with others without your permission.

Posted Dec 29, 2014Great plugin, little bit of an issue though.... When using Worldedit version (6.0; 3342-78f975b9), WESV seems to through off a lot of errors in the Console. It works fine, but the errors are every second and rather large. This is with all current versions of WESV and on Spigot build #1649.

But now have a problem.
My server stops responding, and i think it's all about this plugin. :(

WorldEdit 6 isn't supported yet, you'll have to use an older version.

I guess you could start with setting gapBetweenPoints and verticalGap to at least 2. I don't know about your servers power so you'll have to just play around with the settings, you can't really break anything. There's a section on this page that explains what they mean and what the numbers mean regarding performance.

Well, the lag seemed to get more intense the larger selection I made (200x200). What would you recommend I set the default settings to?

This plugin doesn't work with WorldEdit v6 yet because there's no release build of it yet. As soon as WorldEdit v6 gets officially released I will update this plugin, but until then you'll have to use the latest WorldEdit 5 version.

Have you tried adjusting the config? You can basically fully adjust the amount of calculations the plugin has to do which should eliminate all lag. The default settings might just have been too intense for your server.

Posted Jul 22, 2014Had to shut it off today due to MASSIVE lag caused by it. Even after a complete server restart, the plugin was still causing massive server (not client) lag when doing a selection.

Yeah, of course it works with 1.7.9. It works with all 1.6 and 1.7 versions and if Mojang doesn't change the packet protocol drastically it will also work with 1.8

Posted Jul 20, 2014I see it works with 1.7.10 so I assume it also works with 1.7.9? I have a list that I'm checking off of for all my plugins to update and I would love to check this one off. It works AMAZINGLY by the way. Right out of the box without issues...
