Description
This plugin is intended to efficiently provide a border for each of your worlds, which only people granted special bypass access are allowed beyond. These borders can be round/elliptic or square/rectangular. As the plugin has been written with performance as the most important goal, it should have no performance impact on your server. Additional world trimming and filling commands are available as well.
Older plugins which originally inspired the creation of this one: rBorder and BorderGuard.
Features
- You can set up a separate border for each world, but only one border per world.
- You can have either round/elliptic or square/rectangular borders. Square/rectangular borders are slightly higher performance, round/elliptic borders make for nicer display maps. Different worlds can have different border shapes if you so choose.
- Configuration and border setup is done completely using commands in-game or through the server console. No need to ever edit the config file directly.
- Support for all permission plugins which interface with Bukkit's built-in "superperms" permission system.
- You can fully generate (fill) your world all the way to the border, filling in any missing chunks, including a configurable buffer zone just outside your border.
- You can trim off any world chunks beyond the border, getting rid of extraneous parts, with a configurable buffer zone left just outside your border.
- You can use a bypass command to allow specific players to go beyond all borders.
- Borders can be automatically displayed in DynMap if you use that plugin.
- All plugin data is automatically saved whenever any borders or settings are changed.
- If a player crosses a border while in a vehicle, the momentum of the vehicle is stopped and it is moved back inside the border with the player.
- When a player is moved back inside a border, they will be moved to a safe vertical location if needed.
- Borders for specific worlds can be set to wrap around instead of just knocking back players who cross the border, instead sending them to the opposite edge of the border.

Of special interest are the Fill command and the Trim command features:

Borders are also displayed automatically by default in DynMap if you have it:

Posted Oct 5, 2013hey if I do the trim, does it will delete chunks outside of the border or inside? Cause I want to delete chunks.. A player traveled to 90k coord. I want to delete that. Limited to 35k. If I do the trim, I hope it wont delete inside of the border

Info linked above on Fill: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/worldborder/pages/commands-and-permissions/#w-the-fill-command
It's done in a square spiral pattern from the center position of the border. You can specify the frequency, so if you're worried about performance while it's running you can choose a lower frequency. If you're running a live map plugin like DynMap and don't want performance problems on a live server it might be better to specify a lower frequency than the default.

Posted Oct 4, 2013I'm very interested in the pre-loading chunks feature. I run a live server though and the area I want to load is massive. How is the loading of chunks done? Will there be a noticeable change in performance?

If you're having problems, please provide details.
If you've updated CraftBukkit and are just posting that without even having tried the most recent version of WorldBorder on it, it probably works fine.
Either way, unless I hear of problems it will probably be a few days before I check it over myself.

There probably won't be any changes needed in WorldBorder for it to be compatible with 1.6.4 as such breaks are uncommon, but if a compatibility update is needed I will of course release one. The core world generation code is within CraftBukkit/Minecraft.

Posted Oct 2, 2013Apparently the Minecraft 1.6.4 update includes code that prevents "world generation bugs that would appear in 1.7" and that Mojang recommends "you use this version and load up important areas of your world before heading into Minecraft 1.7." Given that, will you be making sure that there is a version for 1.6.4 when it hits beta or recommended build? That way I could generate a bit of land at the edges with 1.6.4 before going to 1.7 once it's available...

WorldBorder will not teleport anyone into lava or any other harmful block.
Trying to implement a visual border comprised of pseudo-blocks (not stored on the server, just sent to players as supposedly real) is towards the top of my "look into eventually" list.

but hell, just an bedrock-to-sky glass-border would work too! :D

I feel like he is having the same issue I am: Players don't know where the border is when running around (since they don't use the dynmap) and if they're underground they may get TP'd to the surface or worse - into lava >_<
I would REALLY like to see a visual WB option - be it glass-blocks or something else to show users in-world where they are. I feel like there should be an option for what height to start this glass-wall at and also how big it should be (for example, have the glass blocks only 10 or 50 blocks high and start at (or center from) at a world height of 64). I assume this would take a while but I would donate what little I could if this shows up :p

Sorry, no. It's there for safety and should not in fact slow down the process in the long run.

Posted Sep 24, 2013Is there anyway to stop it saving the world every 30 seconds or so ? It really slows down the "fill"

What would you have happen when they cross the border? If you don't want anything to happen, you can simply remove the border.
@pookshuman
The command is "/wb worldname set", not "/wb set worldname". Refer to the top link on this page for the full command list, or the command list in-game provided by just typing "/wb".
