Description
This plugin is intended to efficiently provide a border for each of your worlds, which only people granted special bypass access are allowed beyond. These borders can be round/elliptic or square/rectangular. As the plugin has been written with performance as the most important goal, it should have no performance impact on your server. Additional world trimming and filling commands are available as well.
Older plugins which originally inspired the creation of this one: rBorder and BorderGuard.
Features
- You can set up a separate border for each world, but only one border per world.
- You can have either round/elliptic or square/rectangular borders. Square/rectangular borders are slightly higher performance, round/elliptic borders make for nicer display maps. Different worlds can have different border shapes if you so choose.
- Configuration and border setup is done completely using commands in-game or through the server console. No need to ever edit the config file directly.
- Support for all permission plugins which interface with Bukkit's built-in "superperms" permission system.
- You can fully generate (fill) your world all the way to the border, filling in any missing chunks, including a configurable buffer zone just outside your border.
- You can trim off any world chunks beyond the border, getting rid of extraneous parts, with a configurable buffer zone left just outside your border.
- You can use a bypass command to allow specific players to go beyond all borders.
- Borders can be automatically displayed in DynMap if you use that plugin.
- All plugin data is automatically saved whenever any borders or settings are changed.
- If a player crosses a border while in a vehicle, the momentum of the vehicle is stopped and it is moved back inside the border with the player.
- When a player is moved back inside a border, they will be moved to a safe vertical location if needed.
- Borders for specific worlds can be set to wrap around instead of just knocking back players who cross the border, instead sending them to the opposite edge of the border.

Of special interest are the Fill command and the Trim command features:

Borders are also displayed automatically by default in DynMap if you have it:

From -15000 X and -15000 Z to 15000 X and 15000 Z?
/wb setcorners -15000 -15000 15000 15000
or, based on center of 0,0 with radius of 15000:
/wb set 15000 0 0
Take your pick.

There isn't an option for that, sorry. It would require monitoring every block placement and block destruction event on the server, where this plugin strives to make no performance impact with its border monitoring activities. Building outside the border serves little purpose anyway.

Posted May 22, 2014I would like to deny users to build outside of the set border. Do you have any idea for me to prevent this? /is there a command or something for this? Ive seen it on other servers and my players would all like it to be disabled to place outside of border

Couldn't you just create a simple script file to run those commands? Make it a crontab to run every 24 hours or however Windoz does it?

perhaps he/she trimmed a worldgauard region and it messed it up but other than that I don't see how it can affect chests either.

Again, this plugin doesn't do anything whatsoever related to chests, and you're the only one to ever report a problem like this that I recall, so I don't see how it would be a problem with this plugin.
Try removing all other plugins except WorldBorder and that should answer your question.
If even then you're having the same problem and you're sure you don't have that problem when you remove WorldBorder, please post your full server startup log.

This plugin does nothing that would affect you being able to open chests. Look elsewhere for the cause of your problem. I'd recommend temporarily removing batches of plugins to determine the cause.

Yeah, that would take a lot of work.
The new /worldborder command added in the recent weekly builds of Minecraft itself actually have that feature where you can have the border size grow/shrink to a new radius over a specified amount of time, along with a physical border. The only border shape it currently supports is square, but it seems decent so far and they're still working on it.
Once it's out in an official Minecraft release and then therefore available in a CraftBukkit dev build, I'll be looking into whether there's a way to co-opt some of the new features it provides or possibly even just work on integrating this plugin into their implementation in some way. We'll see.

Uh oh, I'm not really sure if this would be simple or difficult, but here goes...
I was wondering if it would be possible to add a feature that increased the map border by X number of blocks at specific interval of time. A growing border essentially. So, for example: Every 24 hours, the border in question would grow by 24 blocks.
If this would be time consuming or not worth the time you would have to invest in it, I completely understand.

I generally don't, though there have been exceptions. Those have mostly been simple additions to the code or just really good ideas that I actually have time to work on.

Yeah, I'm hoping there will be some way to manipulate it to work for arbitrary non-square border shapes, but we'll see.

That's amazing to hear, also with the physical border you will probably now have the ability to do that rather than the whooshing :P

I don't really have the time or desire to implement a feature like that. You should be careful when using the trim command that everything outside the border is indeed safe to remove.
@CayleRose
The plugin works fine. It helps if you're not an idiot, and if you had asked for help rather than spewing crap you might have gotten assistance figuring out what's wrong on your end.
