Description
This plugin is intended to efficiently provide a border for each of your worlds, which only people granted special bypass access are allowed beyond. These borders can be round/elliptic or square/rectangular. As the plugin has been written with performance as the most important goal, it should have no performance impact on your server. Additional world trimming and filling commands are available as well.
Older plugins which originally inspired the creation of this one: rBorder and BorderGuard.
Features
- You can set up a separate border for each world, but only one border per world.
- You can have either round/elliptic or square/rectangular borders. Square/rectangular borders are slightly higher performance, round/elliptic borders make for nicer display maps. Different worlds can have different border shapes if you so choose.
- Configuration and border setup is done completely using commands in-game or through the server console. No need to ever edit the config file directly.
- Support for all permission plugins which interface with Bukkit's built-in "superperms" permission system.
- You can fully generate (fill) your world all the way to the border, filling in any missing chunks, including a configurable buffer zone just outside your border.
- You can trim off any world chunks beyond the border, getting rid of extraneous parts, with a configurable buffer zone left just outside your border.
- You can use a bypass command to allow specific players to go beyond all borders.
- Borders can be automatically displayed in DynMap if you use that plugin.
- All plugin data is automatically saved whenever any borders or settings are changed.
- If a player crosses a border while in a vehicle, the momentum of the vehicle is stopped and it is moved back inside the border with the player.
- When a player is moved back inside a border, they will be moved to a safe vertical location if needed.
- Borders for specific worlds can be set to wrap around instead of just knocking back players who cross the border, instead sending them to the opposite edge of the border.

Of special interest are the Fill command and the Trim command features:

Borders are also displayed automatically by default in DynMap if you have it:

That's what the Trim command does, yes. The documentation is of course linked above.

If there was a problem with trimming chunks it will have been reflected in the server log when the Trim was running. Post that.

There is a problem with trimming one of my worlds as the chunks outside of the specified worldborder still stretch out thousands of blocks in other directions even after multiple trims. I found this out from dynmap and clearlagg as both plugins showed the regions outside the worldborder as well as entities being held in it.

What are you using to determine that it isn't filling all the way? If there was an actual problem, it should be logged as an error in your server log or you should at least have some better info to provide than that. If the log indicates success for the full process with no errors, then it will have indeed been completely successful.
If you're using Dynmap, it may just not be updating fully to show everything that's generated. Waiting might give it time to catch up, otherwise running a fullrender should take care of it.

If the world generator is registered through Bukkit, it will work.

Posted Jul 7, 2013Hi, would the filling of worlds be compatible with SkylandsPlus? I use that plugin and I would like to use the fill command to generating floating islands chunks instead of normal chunks. Is this possible if SkylandsPlus is the world's world generator?

Posted Jul 6, 2013Just a heads up, two testers have now been able to rarely reproduce problems with riding horses across the border. None of the other testers could, some even after very extensive testing. So that makes it hard to nail down.
It does seem that there is more work to be done related to vehicles. Minecraft server/client architecture isn't the best, and teleporting players or creatures that have a passenger or are a passenger has been broken (just doesn't work while mounted) for several versions now. That's why there have been these problems lately. They have to be dismounted before they can be teleported.
I might just need to dismount players from whatever they're riding and leave them dismounted with their vehicle next to them. My current workaround is a bit crude and requires a timed delay to make sure the client gets the info about themselves and their vehicle being teleported before trying to set them as mounted again. Otherwise the client bugs out. Fun.

Posted Jul 6, 2013Anyone know if the latest version will prevent horses from bypassing borders? I've had an issue like this with my previous borderguard plugin.
Edit: Nevermind, I've read comment #1054

Posted Jul 5, 2013Hey brett, when placing a boat by the border, and passing the border it spams your boat. It leaves the boat your in, and places a new one every millisecond.
I did this for 5 seconds, and 30 boats spawned and lagged the server. Please fix this before it becomes an issue :/
1. Go by border on water. 2. Place a boat by border. 3. Pass border. 4. Massive spam of boats + lag

Posted Jul 5, 2013I'm still waiting to hear back from those I contacted regarding testing the update out. In the hopes of speeding up confirmation, until I can get good feedback, anyone else who had problems on their server related to horses or boats crossing the border is welcome to PM me here on BukkitDev and I'll send you the build to help test it out.
EDIT:
OK, I don't need any more testers. It's tested and an official release of 1.7.3 will be uploaded momentarily. It will then be available when the BukkitDev team have a chance to check it over.

WorldBorder is of course still your plugin so you don't need to make statements and explain us why you don't want to support x y z in it if you don't want to. Its all up to you on how you want to handle and change it but please don't insult other developers just because of such troll posts. I'm sure the Spigot dudes accept your apology anyways :).
Good luck with the horse issue! I guess you probably need to wait for the BukkitAPI to cover those completely or maybe you find another way around it.

In that case, my apologies to MD_5 and anyone else developing Spigot.
I still don't officially support anything beyond the core CraftBukkit releases. I have little enough time to keep track of changes in CraftBukkit itself, let alone such custom builds of it.

Spigot for Minecraft 1.6.1 is far away from being a recommended milestone and no there hasn't been any releases of it marked as "stable" (not even beta) yet. I agree that it would be careless to use light modified development builds of CraftBukkit and mark them as "stable/recommended" without spending a lot of time in testing and fixing all those bugs in it but that's not even the case here so we can go back to normal again. You don't have to add additional "Spigot support" in your plugin since Spigot already nearly runs all CraftBukkit plugins (even NMS/OBC ones) without any problems at all and WorldBorder is one of the approved plugins that runs on Spigot (excluding MC 1.6 builds for now) without any flaws.
It would be better to spend a little search minute on Google instead of relying on unknown information's published by unknown authors and insult someone else project based on those fake information's.

Posted Jul 5, 2013An update is now in testing to fix the problems caused when horses and boats cross the border.
Once I get confirmation that it fixes those problems (assuming it does indeed pass testing) I'll upload it officially.
