App ID

Wolfram|Alpha App ID

Why do I need to get one?

You need to use your own appid because I do not have access to a full plan with Wolfram|Alpha, and as such, I'm also subject to a 2000 query/month limit. Having multiple servers using the same appid can quickly rack up queries.

Where do I get one?

Just head over to the developer portal on Wolfram|Alpha's website and sign up. Once you've signed up and are logged in, create a New App using the button near the top right of the screen. Once created, it will give you your appid, which should match the format XXXXXX-XXXXXXXXXX.

Why is there a limit of 2000 queries per month?

Simply a limit that Wolfram|Alpha has chosen to cap monthly queries at, I apologize if this is any inconvenience.

Can I upgrade, to get more than 2000 per month?

Yes and no. You have to deal with Wolfram|Alpha in order to get more than 2000 monthly API calls. (You may be able to create multiple apps, and switch between appids to get up to 40000 queries/month if you're smart about it) More info.
