WhooshingWell
This is a world teleportation mod with a twist. Rather than futuristic stargates and nether portals filled with water, this one is a little more fun!
Create a portal to another world with a Whooshing Well .. a simple construction that you activate with a button and jump inside. (Jump optional... really you just fall in). Each portal goes to either the spawn point of one world, or a custom set destination (specified by a sign attached to the well).
Permissions can prevent people you don't want from using the Whooshing Well (or rather grant the ability to those you do) and there are very few commands.
Built in to the plugin is the ability to create (or delete) the new world using simple commands. No need for Multiverse or any other worldgen mod (and I haven't tested for any possible clashes between them).
How to Make A Whooshing Well
A Whooshing Well is a very simple 4 x 4 structure (which is not so simple to explain, see pictures)
- FIRST ... ensure the destination exists
- Run "/ww list" to get destination names, or use "/ww addworld" or "/ww setdest" to create a new one
- Place 2 stair blocks (any type) on each side of a 4x4x square
- Make sure the 4 blocks in the middle are empty (you can dig down to make it look more like a well when its not activated)
- Place any blocks you can attach buttons and signs to in the 4 corners
- On one side, on the left block attach a button (Stone or Wood)
- On the SAME side, on the right block attach a sign with [ww] in line 1 and the world or destination name in line 2
- If your world name does not fit, put "world:" followed by the world id, which you can get from the "/ww list" command
- If you have built it correctly and the world exists, and you are allowed to build a well to the requested destination, you have created a Whooshing Well... otherwise you'll get an error message and the sign will pop off the wall.
- Add whatever decoration you like to make it look more like a well (or whatever you want it to look like).. but make sure the 4 centre blocks stay empty.
- Push the button to activate the portal
To remove a WhooshingWell, you must destroy the sign first, then you will be able to destroy the other blocks.
Whooshing Well Examples
On the left is the minimum allowable layout BEFORE you place the sign, although you actually only need 2 of the 4 corner blocks... but this way looks better :)
Configuration
There are only 4 configuration option:
requireEmptyInventory : Do players have to clear their inventory before using a Whooshing Well?
Available Options: true | false
requireEmptyArmor : Do players have to remove their armor before using a Whooshing Well?
Available Options: true | false
allowNetherWells : Can Whooshing Wells lead to a Nether world?
Available Options: true | false
allowEndWells : Can Whooshing Wells lead to a End world?
Available Options: true | false

Posted Apr 29, 2012I want to echo the question of whether we can hope for in the internal worlds portals. Are you working? And if so, can you tell a release date? Greetings and thanks for your great plugin.

Any players you want to use the wells must have the whooshingwell.use permission. Make sure it is spelled correctly!
If you want to allow them to make their own, they need to have the whooshingwell.create permission.
If you are not currently using a permissions plugin... get one... I recommend PermissionsBukkit

Maybe in a later build yes.
I've just uploaded v0.0.5a which stops players being sent to the End if they enter a WW from underneath.

Posted Mar 25, 2012Is it possible to make this be able to go to specified locations? If I could use this to port between cities it would be amazing.

Posted Mar 13, 2012I've added a poll to do with portals and the world created by WW. I would like to know which direction everyone would like me to go with the plugin with respect to returning from the nether and the end.
Please add your vote and leave your comments. Once this question has been settled I think we are in a position for a proper release.

That's very strange. Can you submit a ticket and attach a screenshot of your well, making sure the button and sign are visible.
Can you also run "/ww list" and make sure the world you are trying to get to is in the list.

Posted Mar 12, 2012I have just improved nether and end functionality when using WW. Usign a nether portal or end portal in a world created by WW now takes you to the default nether and end worlds.
Currently, returning from the nether takes you to the default world (unless you use a ww of course). I will look at adding a feature that logs which portal you used to enter the nether and send you back there on your return... but for the moment that doesn't happen.

Posted Mar 8, 2012Uploaded v0.0.3 (alpha) which adds a soft dependency for My Worlds and Multiverse so that if they are present on the server, they are forced to load their worlds first.
@HandBananaNOOO
If you have had the problem before installing WhooshingWell, this suggests to me that the problem is not this plugin but perhaps a conflict with another plugin.

Posted Mar 7, 2012hmm... I had that problem for a while when I was cancelling the movement event, but I changed it and the problem went away.
I'll have a look and see if there's anything else that might cause that.

I spotted that issue myself yesterday... not sure why it's doing that. Had you been to the nether before using the well?
