Weeping angels
Description
What it is
This allows you to bring Weeping Angels from Doctor Who into your minecraft server.

They function just like the Weeping Angels from Doctor who. If they are in your field of vision then they won't move for the most part. If the "attack" you they damage you along with teleporting you a random distance between 2 configurable distances away from where you are. And they will chase you if they have targeted you.
This isn't a real entity. It is simply a few blocks that act as one. They are a jack-o-lantern (pumpkin when being looked at) and either 2 stone bricks or 2 nether bricks under it with either fences or nether fences for wings respectively.
To kill an angel you must use an Eye of Ender on it three times. When attacked with an Eye of Ender the angel will teleport somewhere within a 250 block radius. When the Eye of Ender is used on the angel it is consumed.
Angel Blind:
Angels can blind players with a configurable chance and for a configurable time. This isn't a normal "oh no... black smoke" blind. This is a full on you can't see anything, not even the block directly in front of you. This is achieved by giving the player blindness and night vision at the same time. The angels don't take into account you are watching them if you have and angel blind on you.
My Other Doctor Who Plugins
Who Regeneration, TARDIS, Vortex Manipulator, Sonic Screwdriver
commands
- NewAngel - Spawns an angel where you are looking. Op's only.
- KillAngels [radius] - Kills all Weeping Angels withing a radius of you. Op's only
Permissions
- WeepingAngels.Ignore - Anyone with this permission will be ignored by the Angels in all aspects.
Config
- TP-Distance:
- Max: 100000 - The maximum allowed distance for teleportation in the X and Z directions.
- Min: 10000 - The minnimum distance a player will be teleported in the X and Z directions.
- Damage: 15 - The amount of damage the player will receive when they are attacked by an angel after they teleport
- Speed: 4 - The maximum number of blocks an angel can move on one update. Angels update every 5 ticks.
- Spawn-Chance: 100000 - The chance for an angel to spawn in place of a zombie. 1 out of Chance.
- Attack Chance: 2 - The chance for an angel to target a player when they are not being watched. 1 out of Chance.
- Worlds: - A list of worlds that the angels can spawn in.
- Blind:
- Chance: The chance that an angel will blind a player. Set to or below 0 to disable.
- Time: The amount of time that and angel blind will be put on a player.
To Do
- Needs better path-finding. Currently tries to go after it's target in a straight line for the most part.
- Make the angels customizable
- Anyone have any suggestions?
Known Bugs
- The algorithm that is used to check if a player is watching an angel doesn't take into account transparent blocks.
- If anyone finds any others please create a ticket for it

Posted Oct 4, 2012is this like the other mod i saw on minecraftfourms weeping angel? i know that one does not work on bukkit but it looks like a stone steve with wings you could use that cant you?
as for a weapon or something that might be able to kill a weeping angel that is hard one, you could make it like an obsidian sword can hurt then but takes few hits to kill.

I'm working on a big TARDIS plugin right now and a Sonic Screwdriver plugin so you could look forward to those. If you have any other ideas for Doctor Who plugins then send me a PM or post them on any of my Doctor Who plugins and if I like them then I'll look into making it.

The algorithm I use uses minecraft magic (from within Minecraft not bukkit stuff) that I don't completely understand. I don't actually have a list of blocks that the Player can see.

Posted Sep 27, 2012I have an idea for the seeing algorithm, when glass panes are looked at the become solid blocks (or maybe the opposite), so you could use that. (I think glass panes work like that, can anybody confirm?). You could kill them with a diomand pick, maybe. (There could be a block of obsidian you have to break).

Again stone + fire doesn't cause really anything to happen also that would still be really easy to do because all you would have to do would be to look at the angel then walk up to it and burn it because weeping angels are quantum locked when any living thing is observing them. As another not a lot of servers have fire turned off.

Posted Sep 26, 2012Well, I'll elaborate on the fire idea:
Fire is potent and symbolic. It's a historic force of nature for cleansing (or destroying) and what's more symbolic than angels burning?
This would require people (especially those with the spawn cranked up) to carry flint and steel with them -- a simple tool not usually used for killing. This would require people to get mighty close to the angel's to try and kill them (and any attack would trigger a counter attack). Likewise, if people tried to set a fire path for the angels to cross, if the angels were inherently tough to kill this method would do nothing but send a burning angel running towards the player, and they'd still be in mortal danger, albeit running from a deadly foe with the flames of hell on their trail.
And God forbid if the angel got inside..and you had to kill it with fire. You could potentially burn the place down trying to stop them, which makes their presence even more dangerous.
Terrifying, very strong, and incredibly dangerous.

For the pumpkin problem, I have known about it but I have no clue why the pumpkin is dropping. I have the block break event cancelled when a block on the angels is broken which in turn should not drop anything.
Second there is no method in bukkit or in minecraft that actually gets all of the blocks that the players can seen in their vision so I have o you a very complex method That Ammar Askar helped me with. Unfortunately it doesn't work perfect 100% of the time and it also can't take into account transparent blocks.
Third I made it so the angels go away when the chunk they are in is unloaded as a temporary way to "kill" them because I couldn't and still can't think of any better way.

Posted Sep 26, 2012I think this plugin is really cool, it just needs a few things. The angels need to be scarier. I think it should be very, very harder to catch them moving. (Now it seems like its the opposite, they move only when your looking). When people first see the angels they think "Oooh, unlimited pumpkins!" They shouldn't be able to be mined, or if they can not drop anything. This is my biggest concern, they are gone when chunks despawn. The plugin should save their locations, and keep them when the chunk is loaded again. Please update soon!

That would be too easy. All you would have to do is look at them and stand 4 blocks away from them. If I were to make it so anyone within an 8 block radius of them would get burned (4 blocks wouldn't deter anyone enough as to not attempt to destroy them) then anyone within an 8 block radius would get a head start if one was to try to sneak up on them and be able to realize quite fast that they are being chased by an angel.

They're made of stone, fire doesn't really affect stone

ETA on when you can kill them? With fire of course :)

First there are 4 versions of the angels. There are nether brick and cracked brick bodies then full wings and partial wings.
Second The pumpkin does light up when they are not being watched

Posted Sep 24, 2012I'd think that maybe the body should be normal stone bricks, and also, maybe the pumpkin lights up when not being looked at.

Cmon man. That which holds the image of an angel becomes itself an angel. Everyone knows that. You wouldn't believe how hard it was to hire someone to constantly watch the picture of the angel I put on top of the screen.
wickersty: I haven't but feel free to de-compile it or if you don't want to do that I can send you the code. Just if you use it in any of your plugins then just give me some credit for it.
Jithins: Thanks.
