VectronCraft Towny Wars
Description:
Like the land management of Towny but think it's too tame? Like the PvP of Factions but nowhere for your players to build in peace? Introducing Vectron Wars - A Towny Advanced add-on that will bridge the gap between those two plugins and allow your builders to build without running the risk of having their beautiful creations destroyed, while still allowing your towns and nations to participate in the chaotic Factions-like PvP element.
Basic Idea:
When a nation declares war on another nation, PvP is turned on in the towns at war, the nations declare each other as enemies (prevents town spawn travel), and the two nations are given a defense value equal to the number of towns in the nation, and each town within those nations are given a defense value equal to the number of residents * 2 + claimed town chunks (configurable).
If a resident of a nation at war is killed by a member of the enemy nation, a defense point is taken off of the victims town. Once the town defense reaches zero, it gets added to the enemies nation, a defense point is taken off of the victims nation, and the victims nations balance divided by the number of towns in that nation (before the conquer), and added to the victors nations balance. Then assuming you have set up the permissions correctly, conquered towns must remain in the nation that conquered them until such a time as their kicked, or conquered by another nation (I recommend setting up a max tax on towns and nations to prevent abuse). Players may not capture a nations capitol city until all other towns in the enemy nation have been captured.
Commands:
- /twar - Displays TownyWars configuration information (how the point calculation is setup + costs setup).
- /twar help - Displays the TownyWars help page.
- /twar status - Displays a list of ongoing wars.
- /twar status [nation] - Displays a list of the nations towns and their defense points
- /twar declare [nation] - Starts a war with another nation (REQUIRES YOU TO BE A KING/ASSISTANT).
- /twar end - Request from enemy nations staff to end the ongoing war. (REQUIRES YOU TO BE A KING/ASSISTANT).
- /twar neutral [nation] - Makes a certain nation neutral so other cannot declare war on it. Neutral nation members will also not be able to declare war on others. This command requires the townywars.neutral permission.
Admin Commands:
- /twar reload - Reloads the plugin
- /twar astart [nation] [nation] - Forces two nations to go to war.
- /twar aend [nation] [nation] - Forces two nations to stop a war.
Permissions:
- townywars.admin - Grants access to admin commands
- townywars.neutral - Grants the ability to make a nation neutral
Configuration:
- pper-player: 2.0 - Defense Points allocated per resident to the town defense - (this setting is a double)
- pper-plot: 1.0 - Defense Points allocated per owned chunk to the town defense (this setting is a double)
- death-cost: 0.0 - If killed during a war by an enemy town, your town will pay the killers town this amount. (this setting is a double)
- declare-cost: 0.0 - It will cost nations this amount to declare war. (this setting is a double)
- end-cost: 0.0 - It will cost both nations this amount if they decide to end the war peacefully. (this setting is a double)
Dependencies:
- Requires Towny Advanced 0.82.1.6 and up to operate.
Setup:
- Download plugin and drop it into the plugins directory
- Change your permissions so regular Towny residents DO NOT have the permission: towny.command.nation.leave (this makes it so towns cannot leave the nation once they have joined and must be conquered back or kicked)
- Restart!

Good question... hmm... i think i am going to leave it the way it is currently being setup, that spawning is controlled by the towns... not going to override it for 2 reasons: a, pvp is on in the town, gotta have some effort put into wars cant make it too too easy. And 2: a pvp kill of a resident of the enemy nation ANYWHERE will take 1 pt off of the defense, not just in the town.

Posted Feb 9, 2013One thing I was wondering that I didn't see in the write up above. Will town spawning be toggled to public for all towns when pvp is enabled? Or are you required to know the coordinates and travel by foot there. I see pros & cons to both situations.
There are several towns on my server that make their spawn private the moment they are created. For the most part there is not a single person that knows where their town is. On the other hand my town is located just 150 blocks from spawn, practically touching it. It's easily accessible and everyone knows where it is.

Okay I believe I did misunderstand that part. I do apologize for my past comments and wish you the best in your studies and the future of this plugin. In no way intended was my goal to make you feel lesser about your plugin. I just annoyed about the vague release date comments and having no deliverance.

I think you misunderstood me. I did not say i would not develop it for you (said that's how you made me feel), and yes there have been some delays. I am not being payed to develop this, and there is no deadline. I thought i could finish it sooner, turns out i was incorrect. Having people criticize so heavily for that... does not make one feel good. Somewhat akin to a person who is eating at a soup kitchen throwing a fit and complaining that he is not getting service fast enough.
As for the vague comments as to a release date, you are right, i should not have posted them. It was not the criticism you were giving that was the problem really... it was your wording of that criticism.

Posted Feb 9, 2013If you don't want to release it to me then thats fine, but you need to check yourself as a developer if you're having such attitude towards people wanting your work. You cannot go and say "Well I can do it but not for you" you are not the only developer making a plugin like this, sure the other one probably wont be as good but don't let your ego blind you. We are all busy and it's understandable that you have classes and that's really important but you need to make sure you don't leave vague comments like
"Development will be completed this week, i will be launching it on my server first, and then will release the plugin." - 21 days ago
"I am working on it and should have something to preview shortly." - 11 days ago
A plugin like this is very welcomed in addition to Towny and is very wanted but don't let that give you an excuse to be the ultimate developer and can do whatever he wants.
"if you want it sooner, you are welcome to develop it yourself" considering you mentioned 21 days ago "Development will be completed this week," there is no need to call that out. That is a very low form of argument.
I'm not here to "insult you" , "argue" with you but just to inform you of how your dealing with the development and timeframe of this plugin. You have no obligation to continue this plugin or even make it but when you start acting like how you are now, it really shows what kind of developer you are if you cannot act correctly towards criticism.

Posted Feb 9, 2013How should I calculate how much the enemy nation gets from nations town bank when conquering a town? Perhaps nation bank decided by towns? - half?

Not a problem, and I want this plugin as much as you do (more probably), but might I say that your attitude makes me want to develop the plugin and not release it for you? Nothing but constant delays (1), were all waiting and all were getting is delays (its my work and time here, if you want it sooner, you are welcome to develop it yourself, or repay for my college education).
Nothing like attitudes like that to make developers think "why am I doing this?".

Posted Feb 5, 2013I'm beginning to doubt this plugin is real. There's been nothing but constant delays one after the other. Stick to a release date please. We're all waiting and we keep getting delays.
I'm not trying to sound rude but there are no other substitutes to this plugin and we NEED this plugin.
