Check out this video (old version), to get an idea of what this plugin can do:

(dispensers/droppers can dispense/drop unlimitedly)
- Random Treasure: You see a random selection of the items. Can also be unlimited!
- Shared Treasure: Instead of having a personal inventory for every player, all players share the same treasure inventory.
- Forget-Time: You can access a treasure again... after the forget-time has passed.
- Custom messages: (found first time, found again, is unlimited)
- Some treasures are for some ranks.

- TODO: Permission reward
- TODO: Lightning reward
- TODO: Fireworks reward
- Score reward
Notes
Protection
- You can't access Treasure Chests that are protected by other plugins.
Unless you use theignore-protectioncommand. - You can't break, burn or blow up Treasure Chests.
Unless you use thedeletecommand.
Fake Inventories
- Players always see a personal "fake inventory" to prevent others from stealing.
This "fake inventory" is temporary. So don't expect something like a private chest. - Players also see a "fake inventory" with shared treasures. But it's not personal. First come, first serve!
- Use the
peekcommand to open the real inventory.
Ranks
- Use lower-case letters, in the configuration and permissions. Also see the How-To page.
TODO
- Fix issues if there are any.
- Add features when issues are fixed.

I've also recently noticed that sometimes I have to leave the game and come back for chests to work.

Posted Aug 15, 2012I tried it with 1.3.1-R1.1 (Build #2335)
I have no issues.
So I hope you were just confused with "fake" inventory versus "real" inventory.....
a.k.a. click TreasureChesth "with" or "without" a chest in your hand.

First thing that comes to mind.... is....
Be careful that you don't click the chest, with a chest in your hand. Because that will open the chest normally, instead of TreasureChest-style.
Basically if you hear (or see) the chest physically open, then you are not looking in the TreasureChest, but just in the normal chest.
Now I will go test.

Posted Aug 14, 2012Well I destroyed the ender chests on my map. tchest still doesn't work. Here's exactly what is happening.
1. Set chest down and fill it with an item or two 2. /tchest set 3. Open chest, no message saying that I have found treasure (items do not appear) 4. Attempt to update chest with new items 5. Open chest, no message saying that i have found treasure (items do not appear)
EDIT: I found out it was an issue with permissions. It appears that even as OP, I did not have the permission to open chests treasure chests (I could open it, but it would not display the items or messages.)
EDIT: I made the previous assumption because this time around, bPermissions didn't delete my files. However, after testing one more time, treasure chests are acting the same way as I originally explained. They do not retain the items.

Posted Aug 13, 2012I don't know what's going on, but it seems that treasure chests don't retain potions. On top of that, I believe putting down an ender chest broke my treasure chests. I will do more research to see if I can narrow down the issue.

Posted Aug 12, 2012I'm hoping Bukkit will provide a way to save NBT data (like author, title, pages)
I'm trying to figure out if they ever will:

Posted Aug 12, 2012works like a clocks :) But 1.3 features could be great, like written books in Tchests! We could use it like starter chest + rules in book! besides adventure maps :)

Sorry for my late reply. But everything works alright at the moment. I think it was just the install of backpack that screwed it up at first.

Posted Aug 2, 2012Hi Mtihc!
This plugin is absolutely vital to so many servers including my own, thanks so much for your hard work!
I opened a ticket on GitHub for this already... the new written books in 1.3 use the NBT data in each individual book to store what's written, and that's not being saved in TChest. Any written books are blank and have the generic 'Written Book' title when they're removed from any TChest. Looks like that data needs to be kept track of now instead of just an item number.
Books that continue a story for everyone that finds a chest is the ultimate calling for TChest! Can't wait until it works!
Thanks again!

Yeah that sounds like something I should add. All those things.
About the spawn issue. I know it's not perfect. I should look into that again.
For now, it helps to... just select the floor. So the region is just 1 high.

Posted Jul 31, 2012Any chance you can change the spawn reward to accept variables like age, charge status(creeper) and aggressiveness(wolves, pigzombies), tame status(ocelot, wolf), size(lavaslime, slime), villager professions and sheep colors? I know it's a lot and would make the command string to set a spawn reward rather long but it would still be very useful. Maybe make it optional so people aren't forced into long commands if they don't want the extras?
Edit: Almost forgot, the spawn reward has a lot of trouble when it comes to spawning mobs underground. It almost always spawns them on the surface instead.

I'm glad it's not such a big issue for you.
It's still weird to me, that the old chests don't work anymore.
I can't believe it has anything to do with backpack.
But, I guess I have to take your word.
So, for now I don't need to take any action right? Let me know if I can help.

It seems to work. I need to get someone else to come online to make sure. Anyway, after the installation of the latest version of backpack, i could not update any old chests, nor were they recognized as even being a chest (I could not delete it, set it, etc.). Not much of a problem because all I did was delete the TreasureChest folder and plan to redo it. Thanks for your assistance. I'll let you know what happens.

This has nothing to do with backpack.
You should read
http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/treasurechest/#w-important
Also, make sure you understand what happens when you open a Treasure Chest.
It opens a fake inventory. That's why the chest doesn't physically open.
You say the items just respawn. Did you even take the items out?
And, are you sure it's not an Unlimited chest?
Before you answer this, make sure you read the "Important" section.

Posted Jul 30, 2012Seems to conflict with Backpack. :(
While both are installed, the old chests (prior to adding Backpack), were not recognized as chests. Also, after creating a new one, opening it (it would not physically open, but the inventory would) and taking the item inside, will not affect the next time you open it. Opening the chest again would spawn the item once more.
