Plugin: TrainCarts - Linked Minecarts, sign-redstone systems, easy to use and realistic
Version: v1.73.0
Build: 1.7.2 R0.1/R0.2
Incompatible with: RailCraft
Description
This plugin looks for suitable Minecarts and links them together if possible. When two Minecarts are being "linked", the Minecarts will act as one single moving train.
Once carts are successfully linked, an effect is played and their velocity is shared in combination with an individual factor for each Minecart, which is used to remain a steady gap between carts. This gap is adjustable, the force at which this happens as well.
End result: a train! You can move it, make a roller-coaster out of it, split it in half, watch trains collide, whatever you want to do with trains. :)
As for 1.21, it is also possible to safely exit your train by setting an exit offset with a (sideways) push factor for the train. This feature is disabled by default. (only affects dropped items). If you want to display arrival times on signs (see redstone circuit part) you need SignLink, see the downloads on the bottom of the page.
As for 1.35 you can set train properties to make 'special' trains, or to 'finalize' a train

For configuration, permissions and how-to's, see the Wikipedia page (it is rather long):
Note that I would prefer having comments, bug reports and others in the main Bukkit page, since I visit that site the most. :)
Addons
Special Addons for TrainCarts
Features
- Link minecarts using collision: no commands needed to make a train
- Move trains as easily as you would with single Minecarts
- Store trains to file for persistence during reloads and server restarts
- Use sign-redstone circuits for subway systems, complete railroads and much more
- Station to gracefully stop and launch trains
- Spawn
- Teleport
- Property setters
- Tag systems to switch certain tracks based on tags on the train
- Destination systems to make your train travel to far-away lands all on it's own
- Supports Minecart Mania's features
- Infinite minecart speeds are possible
- Push-away: Push mobs, players and items away from your trains to keep them running
- Everything is configurable, if something proves not to be, I will make it that way
FAQ
When players are near, trains reach their destinations. With no one near, they don't. What do I do?
By default trains do not keep chunks loaded, and they will unload once they move into unloaded chunks. To make trains keep the chunk area (and themselves) around them loaded, set the 'keepchunksloaded' property to True. This can be done using the /train keepchunksloaded true command, using a property sign or by changing it to true in the DefaultTrainProperties.yml file. For more information about train properties, see here.
Why not boats?!?!
Incompatibilities
If you have another plugin that performs similar Minecart replacement techniques, it is likely that TrainCarts will not function or function poorly. For the 'chunk persistence' part of this plugin, other plugins that unload chunks without firing events result in this feature failing. Minebackup is known for having this problem.
Metrics
This plugin sends server count statistics to MCStats.org. You can (globally) opt out in the PluginMetrics/config.yml file.

I have a client with OptiFine, and haven't touched any of its options, so all of them are on default. The cart jitter is gone. Without it, the jitter is visible and very annoying. If I find the relevant setting from OptiFine's settings, I'll let you know.
EDIT: OK so I found these two options files for OptiFine. After installing OptiFine for your client, they are both found from the main Minecraft folder, ie. %appdata%\.minecraft on Windows 7 PC. I'm really not an OptiFine expert, but maybe you could try and replace your corresponding OptiFine setting files (remember to backup the originals) with mine. As I said, at least I have no cart jitter/flickering at all (also no torch flickering either, which seems to be originating from the same problem). https://dl.dropbox.com/u/6411310/options.txt https://dl.dropbox.com/u/6411310/optionsof.txt
Let me know if this helps you at all.

Posted Dec 5, 2012@Satoimo Set the collision mode of your train to 'enter'. Commands:
I believe that villagers are seen as misc right now. I think they should be mobs instead though...
@RastaCre Ok good to know. They probably changed something in the entity tracker logic, if R0.3 becomes an RB I will be sure to check this.
@DesmondOz Optifine is a Minecraft client mod, you can find instructions for it on their page, scroll down to find the instructions.

I need only the consolidation.
However, when in contact with the villagers and monsters, not boarded, I will rest.
I do not know how to set up: we want to get into. What do I do?
(I want a carry villagers,animals with train.)

OK got it... but it took a while, it was caused by R0.3
Just FYI with R0.3 the carts would only move for 1 or 2 blocks even with a clean TC install (clean config files) and no other plugin.
Cheers

See message #801. And, at least using OptiFine in your client you can get rid of the flickering effect.

I've not had similar problems as yours. Using 1.4.5-R0.2 and carts move just fine. I suspect it could be a conflicting plugin.

Posted Dec 5, 2012Hi There,
1st thing 1st, awesome plugin. I've been using it for a while with no problem whatsoever.
That said, since upgrading to 1.4.5 and using your last dev builds, the carts are not moving anymore... Basically whenever I place a cart or spawn a cart/train from a sign, the carts move for a block or 2 then stop.
I tried to briefly disable some of the other plugins on the server, but before I get into heavy troubleshooting: have you heard already of similar problems (I haven't found anything on the forum atm).
Also:do you have a donate page? if not you should!
cheers

Posted Dec 4, 2012@Etsija Yup, it's in the development build. Wasn't too hard to add, though, that is why I did that first. Only had to split off some logic from the switcher sign and use that.

Please - always be more specific. Saying "it doesn't work" does not help anyone, nor does it give a single clue as to what is wrong.
Currently, the plugin DOES work for 1.4.5 at least when it comes to switchers, stations, spawners, destroyers and announcements. Probably a lot more of it works just fine, but those are what we use, and they work.
To my knowledge, what doesn't work at the moment is: pathfinding calculation is broken; there are some reported memory/property leaks for persistent trains; trigger signs with timer operating mode crash the server.
