Plugin: TrainCarts - Linked Minecarts, sign-redstone systems, easy to use and realistic
Version: v1.73.0
Build: 1.7.2 R0.1/R0.2
Incompatible with: RailCraft
Description
This plugin looks for suitable Minecarts and links them together if possible. When two Minecarts are being "linked", the Minecarts will act as one single moving train.
Once carts are successfully linked, an effect is played and their velocity is shared in combination with an individual factor for each Minecart, which is used to remain a steady gap between carts. This gap is adjustable, the force at which this happens as well.
End result: a train! You can move it, make a roller-coaster out of it, split it in half, watch trains collide, whatever you want to do with trains. :)
As for 1.21, it is also possible to safely exit your train by setting an exit offset with a (sideways) push factor for the train. This feature is disabled by default. (only affects dropped items). If you want to display arrival times on signs (see redstone circuit part) you need SignLink, see the downloads on the bottom of the page.
As for 1.35 you can set train properties to make 'special' trains, or to 'finalize' a train

Note that I would prefer having comments, bug reports and others in the main Bukkit page, since I visit that site the most. :)
Addons
Special Addons for TrainCarts
Features
- Link minecarts using collision: no commands needed to make a train
- Move trains as easily as you would with single Minecarts
- Store trains to file for persistence during reloads and server restarts
- Use sign-redstone circuits for subway systems, complete railroads and much more
- Station to gracefully stop and launch trains
- Spawn
- Teleport
- Property setters
- Tag systems to switch certain tracks based on tags on the train
- Destination systems to make your train travel to far-away lands all on it's own
- Supports Minecart Mania's features
- Infinite minecart speeds are possible
- Push-away: Push mobs, players and items away from your trains to keep them running
- Everything is configurable, if something proves not to be, I will make it that way
FAQ
When players are near, trains reach their destinations. With no one near, they don't. What do I do?
By default trains do not keep chunks loaded, and they will unload once they move into unloaded chunks. To make trains keep the chunk area (and themselves) around them loaded, set the 'keepchunksloaded' property to True. This can be done using the /train keepchunksloaded true command, using a property sign or by changing it to true in the DefaultTrainProperties.yml file. For more information about train properties, see here.
Why not boats?!?!
Incompatibilities
If you have another plugin that performs similar Minecart replacement techniques, it is likely that TrainCarts will not function or function poorly. For the 'chunk persistence' part of this plugin, other plugins that unload chunks without firing events result in this feature failing. Minebackup is known for having this problem.
Metrics
This plugin sends server count statistics to MCStats.org. You can (globally) opt out in the PluginMetrics/config.yml file.

Posted Oct 29, 2012I am trying to get this to work on my server, but when I collide two carts nothing happens, they just bounce off eachother and go their seperate ways. Any idea what I might be doing wrong?

Posted Oct 28, 2012Does not work on 1.4! First uploading a final version for 1.3 that has a lot of changes, then I am going to work on 1.4 compatibility.
EDIT
You can expect a 1.4 compatible version in a few hours. I updated all the fields and methods in TrainCarts and BKCommonLib for the newest CraftBukkit build, and so far all features in TrainCarts are working on 1.4. Only have to look into some of the detailed issues, such as smoke effects of powered minecarts and minecart sounds.

Posted Oct 28, 2012Is it possible to make it so that when someone logs off when they're in a minecart, they relog in a new area, like spawn?

Posted Oct 26, 2012@roughcut33 Your best bet is to add a switcher sign under your station sign, which powers both sides. When the train's destination is that of the station, you make it power the station.
Then attach a lever to the block the switcher sign is attached to. It can power signs above and below the lever, so you could just put it below the station sign. Hope this helps.

Posted Oct 25, 2012If i create a singn:
property destination mainstation
ans between this and the
destination mainstation
Is a sign [!train] station
it will stop there and not drive to the detinationpoint
So i think it will be goot to create a Point in the defaultpropertys like "ignore station and block or something like this.

Posted Oct 23, 2012New version is officially uploaded, awaiting approval. Quite a lot of changes in there, I tried to make it a good final version before 1.4 kicks in.
http:dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/traincarts/files/51-v1-71-8/
@roughcut33 I think that there is actually a destination property. Just 'destination' on the sign and it checks if there is a destination. I think I forgot to put it on the WIKI or smth. I'll update it in a bit.

Posted Oct 22, 2012Hi Berger,
So long i work with your plugin and have a lot of fun. Thanks for it. :)
But i have an idea. I use stations with buttons to start if anybody want to drive by cart. So log so good. :) But now i want to implement a storagesystem with traincarts on our server. Maybe ther is a posibility to create a property who can i say if a train have an destination he should ignore all stations on the way.
You think its possible and not sensless?^^
p.s. sorry for my damn bad english today, but its fu.. late in good old germany now. :)

Posted Oct 22, 2012@Psychokiller1888: I really like my current station, it's not just some 08/15 building (at least for me). Also changing it will take a lot of work or would screw the whole idea how it currently works =/ So if this plugin won't give me any decent solution I'd rather let my old station get dusty, though it'd be really great to have both systems working at once.

Then just change the way you made your station, I mean, what's the use to stack them with this plugin?? Just add a train spawner, a few redstone wires and get rid of the stacker and voilà , working train station

Posted Oct 21, 2012Thanks for the quick answer. I'll try it now and see if it works. But: A. Is it possible to do it the other way around, say: Carts aren't linked by default but can be linked with /train linking true? B. I only use one world for everything, that's why I like to have different regions with worldedit/guard.
EDIT: tried the "/train linking false" command, the carts don't act anymore as a train, but they fall "into" eachother, so they aren't "stackable" on top of each other.

Posted Oct 21, 2012@Doompants409 Will add that.
@grybo101 You should be able to use the property sign for it:
Max speed controls the maximum speed of the minecarts. Booster tracks will accelerate the train above this value, but the cart will appear to move at 0.1 blocks/tick.
@iBaer You can still move the minecart forward, but it required you to put a powered minecart before/after it. I guess I can add a configurable option to manually move carts, though. To disable certain carts getting linked, change the linking property of these carts.
Then they won't attach to each other. You could also disable traincarts on certain worlds where you don't want train behaviour at all. (note that this will disable signs too)

Posted Oct 21, 2012What about WorldEdit/Region support? I created a minecart station for single minecarts, where the carts are stacked on top of each other. When I enable the plugin all the minecarts connect -> my station doesn't work anymore as it can only handle single minecarts. I want my old station to maintain, but I want to use the Traincarts plugin for a real "themepark".
EDIT: Also you can't really start the minecart by itself by "moving forward", that was possible before but not with this plugin. It'd be really helpful.

Posted Oct 20, 2012I feel like an idiot for asking this, but is there anyway to control the train's speed? I've attempted using commands and signs to allow the train to slow down, but it doesn't seem to be working at all. I am an owner of a theme park-based server and we need to be able to control cart speed for some rides. Any help at all is appreciated!

re: long names on switchers, thanks for the response. The other option I suggested... some way to allow wildcards... Is that viable? One user that doesn't fit is Ninjamaster832. Could it be made so I could use the line "l:p@ninjamast*" or something?
