Plugin: TrainCarts - Linked Minecarts, sign-redstone systems, easy to use and realistic
Version: v1.73.0
Build: 1.7.2 R0.1/R0.2
Incompatible with: RailCraft
Description
This plugin looks for suitable Minecarts and links them together if possible. When two Minecarts are being "linked", the Minecarts will act as one single moving train.
Once carts are successfully linked, an effect is played and their velocity is shared in combination with an individual factor for each Minecart, which is used to remain a steady gap between carts. This gap is adjustable, the force at which this happens as well.
End result: a train! You can move it, make a roller-coaster out of it, split it in half, watch trains collide, whatever you want to do with trains. :)
As for 1.21, it is also possible to safely exit your train by setting an exit offset with a (sideways) push factor for the train. This feature is disabled by default. (only affects dropped items). If you want to display arrival times on signs (see redstone circuit part) you need SignLink, see the downloads on the bottom of the page.
As for 1.35 you can set train properties to make 'special' trains, or to 'finalize' a train

For configuration, permissions and how-to's, see the Wikipedia page (it is rather long):
Note that I would prefer having comments, bug reports and others in the main Bukkit page, since I visit that site the most. :)
Addons
Special Addons for TrainCarts
Features
- Link minecarts using collision: no commands needed to make a train
- Move trains as easily as you would with single Minecarts
- Store trains to file for persistence during reloads and server restarts
- Use sign-redstone circuits for subway systems, complete railroads and much more
- Station to gracefully stop and launch trains
- Spawn
- Teleport
- Property setters
- Tag systems to switch certain tracks based on tags on the train
- Destination systems to make your train travel to far-away lands all on it's own
- Supports Minecart Mania's features
- Infinite minecart speeds are possible
- Push-away: Push mobs, players and items away from your trains to keep them running
- Everything is configurable, if something proves not to be, I will make it that way
FAQ
When players are near, trains reach their destinations. With no one near, they don't. What do I do?
By default trains do not keep chunks loaded, and they will unload once they move into unloaded chunks. To make trains keep the chunk area (and themselves) around them loaded, set the 'keepchunksloaded' property to True. This can be done using the /train keepchunksloaded true command, using a property sign or by changing it to true in the DefaultTrainProperties.yml file. For more information about train properties, see here.
Why not boats?!?!
Incompatibilities
If you have another plugin that performs similar Minecart replacement techniques, it is likely that TrainCarts will not function or function poorly. For the 'chunk persistence' part of this plugin, other plugins that unload chunks without firing events result in this feature failing. Minebackup is known for having this problem.
Metrics
This plugin sends server count statistics to MCStats.org. You can (globally) opt out in the PluginMetrics/config.yml file.

Posted Oct 20, 2012Dam :( Even tough i have tried to make Minecarts in my very short line so they have at least 4 seconds apart from etch other. in a "circle" track..
Even with the latest of them all they keep on sticking together, not linked but just run in one big ball of carts..
Meh.

Posted Oct 16, 2012@cannonb4ll Yes, there is an 'enabled worlds' setting (or disabled worlds) for where TrainCarts is enabled.
@Doompants409 Right now there isn't, I can add a "-system like I do with commands, though. Then you can put this:
One issue is that I doubt you can put such long names on there, as there is a 9-length limitation as a result.

Posted Oct 15, 2012What I would like to see, since you state: "•Everything is configurable, if something proves not to be, I will make it that way "
A way to configure for multiworld.
What I mean by that is, you would be able to set a config line as in: allowWorld: You could set: All, or the specified worlds as in Word1 or World1, Word2.
I have this plugin, and I run a rollercoaster world and a survival world. Since I dont want te minecarts to act as they do like they should in survival world.
Would such a feature be possible?

Love the plugin so far. Question though; is there a way around space limitations on signs for statements?
Specifically, I am using p@<player> statements on switchers, but can't fit some player names. Is there a workaround? Or would it be possible to allow wildcards (with * or otherwise)
ie:
[!train]
switcher
l:p@Reallylongplayername1
f:true
Thanks in advance.

Posted Oct 15, 2012If the train goes through more than 4 consecutive powered rails in a loop, it will start going crazy and going 20 blocks a second, and then slow down after like a few minutes depending on the length of the loop.
Other minecart plugins:
MineCartRevolution(No change when removed) FlyingTub(No change in behavior when removed)
Great plugin, although it lags my server like hell (with the above mentioned). If you could fix it, TYTYTY

Posted Oct 13, 2012And yet another version is up for testing:
https:dl.dropbox.com/u/3681706/TrainCarts%20v1.71.8%20TEST%203.zip
Changes adding to the previous:
@roughcut33 4th line of the blocker has changed. To block a certain direction, put it on the first line:
The third line is for a delay to wait after removing redstone power, and the fourth line is the direction to launch to after waiting. They are optional.
EDIT
And yeah, there was a bug with the fourth line. Fixed it in the beta version in this comment.

Posted Oct 13, 2012@cannonb4ll Well it should start rolling again. If it doesn't, it must be a bug. I tested it on 1.71.8 locally but it seemed to work there, so it is probably fixed in that version. I'll upload a beta version for you onto dropbox...but I first have to get BKCommonLib uploaded then. (as it got changed as well)
@muppet2 Add BKCommonLib as well. See the two banners and the readme.txt where this is stated.

Posted Oct 13, 2012Im creating a simple station with this plugin, wich I dont seem to get working.
I create a sign with [train] station and power both sides with track above.
When I push a minecart above the station powered part, it stops. As it should.
The problem is, when I remove a power source from one side it doesnt start rolling again, it just sits there. What could possibly be it?
Example:
http://updo.nl/file/baff3830.png
When I toggle the left switch with a minecart on top off it, it wont start rolling again.

Posted Oct 13, 2012@roughcut33 Hmm yes the splitting mechanic did not work that way; it merely checks if the two carts can reach each other on the tracks and splits otherwise. I might be able to make cart switchers split trains that way, but I fear that it will have bugs...
EDIT
Well I fixed a splitting bug and it can now split trains as you mentioned. Works all fine, better than before, so I guess I can thank you :)

Posted Oct 12, 2012Hi bergerkiller,
you have a very nice plugin programmed with TrainCarts. But i have there one Problem.
I want the first cart from the train go in front and the rest go backwards. So the signs work correct, but the carts dont split. They try to get always forwart and the other back, so they stay on the switcher.
If i use right and left it works fine.
So what can i do?
