Downloads
I'm too lazy to upload TARDIS files to Bukkit anymore, as builds are automatically created when the plugin is updated and changes pushed to GitHub.
Version specific downloads can be found here: https://tardis.pages.dev/download
Please make sure you are using the latest Spigot/Paper builds (for the Minecraft version you are running) before installing TARDIS or creating an issue!
What it does
TARDIS is a plugin that gives you the ability to create a Police Box that lets you time travel (teleport) to random locations. It adds a Whovian twist to the typical /sethome and /home commands.
As a player, you can:
- Create a TARDIS that is bigger on the inside.
- Time travel to a random location.
- Time travel back home (where you created the TARDIS initially).
- Save and list interesting time travel locations, so you can return to them easily.
- Take companions with you when you time travel.
- Make your TARDIS blend in with the Chameleon Circuit.
- Use your own schematic to build the TARDIS interior
- Grow new TARDIS rooms
- Use Artron Energy
- Remote control the TARDIS
- Custom TARDIS sounds with companion Resource Pack
- Custom TARDIS textures with companion Resource Pack

Installation
As a minimum, just drop the TARDIS.jar, TARDISChunkGenerator.jar (look under Additional Files on the download page) and any optional plugins listed below into the Bukkit plugins folder and start your server. For more detailed instructions see: https://tardis.pages.dev/installation-v5
Optional installs
These are not needed for TARDIS to function, but enhance the plugin with extra features...
- Install the TARDIS-SoundResourcePack in the Minecraft client to hear custom TARDIS sounds
- Install the TARDIS-Resource-Pack to see aal the fancy textures and models (requires TARDIS v4.2 or higher).
- Install the TARDISChunkGenerator plugin so that you can generate TARDISes in their own self-contained world (included on the TARDIS plugin download page under Additional files).
- Install WorldGuard to automatically protect your TARDIS from griefing, and stop mobs spawning in TARDIS worlds.
- Install TARDISWeepingAngels to add some Whovian mobs to the game.
- Install a Permissions plugin, so that you can restrict or grant players the rights to use TARDIS’ different features. We like PermissionsBukkit.

Bugs / Requests
Please post a ticket for TARDIS plugin requests and bugs, thank you :)
WARNING: I am no longer prepared to waste my time looking at incomplete tickets. If your ticket does not follow the guidelines set out below, it will be deleted immediately!
Make sure you have read the FAQs first, as your question may already be answered there. Also make sure you have searched for a previous ticket with the same/similar issue (use the Filters to search closed tickets).
If you are going to create a BUG ticket you need to supply relevant information (as I'm not a mind reader, nor do I have access to your server...) - as a minimum you need:
- Exact CraftBukkit version i.e. NOT 'the latest' - use the
/tardis versioncommand if possible, otherwise copy from server log - Exact TARDIS version i.e. NOT 'the latest' - use the
/tardis versioncommand if possible, otherwise copy from server log - The server log showing the entire error (as a paste or at Pastebin - NOT a screenshot) - this should be the log from when the server starts up right through to when the error occurs
- If no error in the log, then a video of the bug happening or the EXACT steps needed to reproduce the issue.
- Attach your plugins/TARDIS/config.yml file or other configuration file if relevant
- Attach your plugins/TARDIS/TARDIS.db file if relevant
- List of other plugins on server
Stats
Basic statistics are collected for some versions of the TARDIS plugin (v2.5.8 and earlier). You can opt out at any time by setting opt-out: true in plugins/PluginMetrics/config.yml
External web access
Version 2.8 (and higher) of this plugin includes a translation feature (the /tardissay command) that connects to the Lingva translation service.
You can prevent players from using the command by removing / not giving them the permission tardis.translate

I'm not trying to be rude, but posting that Minecraft has updated on the TARDIS page is a bit like telling the Pope he is Catholic... Please keep your comments relevant to the plugin, the Minecraft launcher keeps us up to date with game releases.

Posted Apr 9, 2014@eccentricnz - thanks for the sql statement, really appreciate that, and the hard work you put in to this. I understand you must get frustrated sometimes, because I'm a 'part time dev' as well, and I know sometimes its difficult and challenging. However, if I was in your place I'd think i'd like to know what I'm about to tell you - if you could see the delight on my little girls face every time she hears the dematerialisation sound effects from your plugin, I hope you would think it was worth the efforts you've made.
thank you

You shouldn't even need
tardis.enterif you havetardis.use, sounds like you need to make a ticket...Edit: Confirmed, the sonic seems to have died, will take a look after work

regarding the tardis.enter permission, i have it and tardis.use both set for the default group, but they cannot enter my tardis even though they are companions. I even tried isomorphic controls, but that didn't help. I'm obviously missing something that isn't too obvious, any hints?
(Also, regular sonic doesn't activate doors, and r-circuit sonic doesn't activate buttons, only redstone dust)

Actually I have a full time job and another job I'm not paid to do (because it's my stuff) but MC is a weekend fun thing I like to do with friends when we can. I'm not complaining at all, and you shouldn't take it as such. I just realize that even I, as a developer, document the things I'm doing, and understand the frustration too which is why I was making some suggestions.
But anywho, I do have another question, and I've watched the videos and read what I can, but for some reason, the Sonic Screwdriver won't open doors. All the add-on circuits work, I can activate redstone etc, but it won't work to open doors as a regular sonic. Is there something I'm missing?

If you can go into creative game mode and get all the ingredients, who cares if you can get something from the /tardisrecipe command? Seems like a long winded and awkward way to do things...
RE documentation, Minecraft is a game without any official documentation, sure there's the Minecraft wiki, but do you think that is written by Mojang, I think not, it is all community driven.
I get that you might be frustrated with the TARDIS documentation, and that's not likely to change any time soon, from my perspective or yours. I have a full time job, a family, and quite a few other plugins to keep up with, and my own interests outside of computers and gaming.
You sound like you actually get to play Minecraft, you might be surprised to know the last time I actually got to log in to my favourite server and actually sit down and play the game (if you're the slightest bit interested you can see my last login time here...

Maybe that's what it is. Permissions. I'm no good for this, but if someone wrote a basic "here's how to do a bukkit minecraft + tardis" tutorial FOCUSING ON CUSTOMIZATION then things might make more sense. This includes permissions, as many game changing plugins never even make the admin touch perms at all. I use mcMMO for example, and never had to set it up past installation.
I guess that's what I was saying, that there should be a simple "everyone can get by with these settings" default where everything just _works_ out of the box. THEN you can worry about getting into the niddy griddy of it, so those who DO want to wade through the documentation won't be so confused by it.
Now to explain the confusion: your settings as the TARDIS plugin comes assumes people are keeping up with your dev cycle, and many times people just aren't there with you (as I develop things, too, I pay focus on my own apps etc, but don't expect you to know what I'm doing). However, when one goes to read documentation, it's assuming things are a particular way (such as companion permission like my previous question), as the documentation didn't say anything about that! It just said /tardis add companion and they should come in.
So if you're looking for a starting point for your next FAQ or documentation, start with a crash course on the permissions, exactly what they are for, and from there, once the player has done permissions the proper way, THEN you get into the settings and changes etc.
I would help you with the documentation, but I'm afraid I'm only good at reviewing it since I am already (obviously) having trouble understanding the plugin. I'd hate the be the one to write the documentation. :P
Also, did you duplicate my steps to get items?

Most plugins provide a default "vanilla style" configuration by default. IE: a method by which admins can use admin stuff, while players benefit from the player side. Default settings _are_ set up by eccentricnz, and I think along those lines, the plugin should be documented in an easy to understand guide for new users, along with the FAQ and other documentation to explain the "custom" stuff, while (as I said) leaving the tutorial to be based on default settings that work for all players, right out of the blue box.
Also I know you asked for help on the documentation, and there are a lot of things in this plugin I know. I'll see if I can type some stuff up in my spare time.
Also, replicate the following steps to make sure it's not me please:
/gm 1
/tardisrecipe x (where x is the tardis recipe)
Shift Click on the crafted item in the recipe window
Very quickly: while the recipe item is in your inventory for a brief second, close the recipe window
Go to inventory and Shift Click the new item into your inventory OUT OF your hotbar.
/gm 0
Go in inventory and shift click it back to hotbar
Select the item with mouse scroll (maybe can push numbers, haven't tried)
You now have that item forever...or until you fall in lava.

Considering the enormous amount of features provided in this plugin, I think the documentation is very comprehensive if not always 100% up to date with every new feature the moment it's added. I have never had issues figuring out how to use features as long as I am willing to sit down and read through the documentation provided. eccentricnz is always extremely responsive with any other questions.
I've heard from others too that they feel there's no simple step-by-step instructions on how to use the plugin, to which my response is: This is a big plugin that does a lot of things. If all the instructions were provided in a step-by-step document you'd be complaining the document is 250 pages long and should be broken up into categories (like it is already).
Take the time to read the documentation. The depth you're asking for is all there. I mean, for crying out loud, the CONTENTS page alone is 4 printed pages.
