Takit-DNS
Overview
This plugin will keep your hostname's IP address up-to-date. The plugin will periodically check your network's external IP address; if it sees that your IP address has changed, it updates the new IP address to your hostname.
Supported DNS Services:
- freedns.afraid.org
- dyn.com (use for dyndns.com or dyndns.org)
- no-ip.com
- dnsexit.com
If you want me to add support for other DNS service create a new issue.
Installation
Place the downloaded jar in your plugin folder and reload your server to generate the config file. After it's generated go to it and update the information, then restart the server.
Configuration
- username: username you use to log into the dns service
- password: password you use to log into the dns service
- domain: the domain you want updated
- interval: Number of minutes to check for IP change (default: 10)
- host: freedns.afraid.org, dyn.com, no-ip.com, or dnsexit.com

Posted Jan 14, 2020Apologies! It still works great. Just that it waits x minutes after the server starts, before updating the IP, instead of doing it immediately.

Posted Jan 14, 2020I believe this plugin may have aged out for freedns.afraid.
Looking at their source on github, I think it no longer uses the same update url it once did.

I will update the plugin once the stable 1.2 is released. The plugin should work in 1.2 without changes though.

Next time you claim that a plugin is a phishing plugin read the code. The user information is only sent to the dns server that is in the config file, but if you read the code you should already know this.
If you don't trust the jar, then you can compile it yourself from the source on GitHub.

Posted Feb 1, 2012Using your router you can specify a dns.. Then log into the dns in the dns config on the router and it does this for you automatically.
Sorry but this plugin isn't worth it... Sounds like a phishing scheme to me.

Edit: Nevermind, problem was the @ in my email for login to no-ip.org. Apparently no-ip also accepts the first part of an email without the @whatever.com

You can connect to which ever port number is open. I will look into how dot.tk works to see if I can implement that service.
I have received a dyn.com request which I will be working on first. I will PM you once I find how more about the dot.tk service.
