Spectate
What is spectate?
Spectate allows you to watch players from their point of view, simply by typing in /spectate (player). You will see exactly what they see, and they'll never know you were watching them.
You can also watch them from different angles. There's Third Person, Third Person Front (looking at their face), and Freeroam (you can walk freely around and watch them from any angle).
There's also "Scroll" mode and "Scan" mode. Scroll mode allows you to right and left click to change between players, and Scan mode will change the player you're spectating every few seconds (you can set how long until it switches to the next person).
There's also an API, which allows developers to take control of the entire plugin.

Posted Aug 24, 2012Would it be possible at all, when spectating someone, to show them random coordinates? Rather than the exact coordinates of the player being spectated?

Posted Aug 23, 2012Hi, I've just been testing this plugin on a few of my Admins to test how discreet the specatating is when it's used on normal members. It's works very well :) but there was one problem I encountered. The target player seems to lag whilst been spectated :S , I was wondering if this is a bug or if it's just my server :P
Edit: I forgot to mention that I'm using the new dev version.

You can't open any type of screen when inside a portal. This is normal Minecraft behavior...

I don't know if it has been reported yet, but when the player being spectated opens a chest or anything with a GUI window, you can't do anything. When you try to open the chat to get out of the mode, it immediately closes it and opens the GUI again, same for the menu.
Which is pretty annoying, and griefers might take abuse of it.
Currently using the dev build, but it also occurred with the previous release.
Besides that, it's a nice plugin giving the ability to do what I thought was near to impossible in Minecraft.

Posted Aug 18, 2012This is a great plug-in however, players are pushed around, which is irritating when in a PVP battle. I got pushed in lava when typing in the chat by someone who wanted me to win :(
Otherwise well done, and I don't think this can bee avoided...

some times the [afk] part of the name doesn't remove (this isnt a spectate problem) but spectate *i think* has problems spectating these players. I'm not really sure how to explain it any other way.

Posted Aug 12, 2012i noticed that whenever a op spectates a person they are invisible to other ops. can there be a permission node or option so that you can see other players spectating? :)

bukkit seems to have a problem i think - if players are afk then there name is [afk]name.
if you do /spec name it doesn't find the name due to the server saying ur name is [afk]name.
in other words it says no such name.. wierd.. it didn't have a problem on 1.2.5

I (as admin) sometimes spectate members known for using xray and use it myself as client mod. So you see the same as the member sees and it's easy to make sure if he/she is using xray or not.
I use the CJB ModPack for xray (but not use it when mining :D)
