Your spamming back to spammers? You know spamming doesn't just get annoying it also lags the server, if you were to spam them back you would only be creating more lag. Also I spammed back to a spammer once and he didn't stop. The best way of getting rid of spammers is to just ban/kick them.

/spam <name> %default%
And in the config:
default: times: 5 message: hi
