SnoGro (SnowGrow)
SnoGro
AKA SnowGrow
Version: v1.2.7(release)
CB 1.6.2-R0.1
Authors: @Musaddict @Feed_Dante
This plugin uses all 8 of the snowtops (yes, there are 8 heights of snow!) using a gradual snow pile-up algorithm to make aesthetically pleasing snowy areas! The snow is set up to not build up on cliff edges, or borders of the chosen area, so you can simply walk into them without worrying about it lookin' choppy! Works great in forests, adds a little extra touch to the feel. Makes everything less... blocky.
Features:
- Uses all 8 snowtops! (well, technically 7 and a snow block)
- Hooked into weather!
- Piles-up snow automatically in snowy biomes.
- Start it snowing for as long as you want using /snow [radius] [time]
- Radius is Square, not Circular
- Time is in seconds. (300 = 5 min)
- Stop the snow whenever you feel like it using /snow stop
- Optimized performance to relieve resource consumption on servers
- Fully compatible with WorldEdit (use snow with a double-slash to use WE's)
- Compatible with SuperPerm plugins
Permissions:
| sg.snow | Starts snow /snow [radius] [time] |
| sg.stop | Stops snow /snow stop |
| sg.world.enable | allows the use of /snow enable [world] |
| sg.world.disable | allows the use of /snow disable [world] |
OPs can, by default, start and stop snow
Known Bugs:
- Due to the restrictions of Bukkit and Minecraft, we cannot simulate snowfall within the specified radius, sorry!
- SnoGro require the server to be running Java 1.7

The first image shows that snow will grow up against vines. I'm not really sure that this makes sense... Also thanks for fixing the sugarcane bug; testing now.

Posted Feb 16, 2012Would it be possible to make the plugin obey WorldGuard Flags? Snow-Fall and Snow-Melt I believe they are called which stops snow from falling in a certain region. How can I stop snow from forming inside buildings and domes?

Posted Feb 15, 2012The non-solid blocks have been taken into consideration, and we will be fixing it in our ext version. That first image, I'm not sure what I'm looking at. If it's a picture of snow building up next to a house with an overhang, then it's supposed to do that!
As for your suggestion lyeru, unless it snows in a snow biome automatically (and not by command) it is impossible to make it actually snow! sorry
Edit: 1.1.1 is released. Snow no longer grows on top of glass (thin or thick) or iron bars. Also, the sugar can incident has been fixed! Still looking into cacti. I believe it's cause cacti pop when a block is placed next to them, so the only way to fix that is if snow doesnt grow at all near them. So, i'll think about how to address that for our next version.

Posted Feb 13, 2012Bug: Snow will attempt to "grow" up against some non-solid blocks, like sugarcane and vines. On a side note, it wrecked my cacti farm :( Here are some screenshots of this:

Posted Feb 10, 2012We have released version 1.1.0!
This version hooks SnoGro into weather! All you need to do is /snow enable [world] and then next time the weather storms, you'll be enjoying marvelous snow in snow biomes!

Posted Feb 10, 2012While the algorithm for finding the edges of buildings (for villages) isn't perfect, it will now bury them somewhat in snow!
Also, we are almost done hooking into weather!

Yeah, melting is on our to-do list :) With our current algorithms, pile-ups next to villages are impossible (has to do with the overhangs of the buildings blocking the pile-ups from happening) I'll add a check, and make it a configurable option that check to see if it's next to a structure.

Posted Feb 9, 2012For the future i hope you can make it so snow also melts. It would be awesome to configure it to % chance per X day to snow alot in normal biomes, so whole villages are almost buried and have to be dug up, but after X days it starts to melt again.

We are currently working on hooking into weather. Once we do, it will automatically pile up in snow biomes when weather = storm.
Currently, you make only make it snow using the /snow command, which still gradually makes it snow.

Posted Feb 8, 2012I never knew snow had 7 heights... o.O
Looks like a cool plugin!
EDIT: Will snow build up even when it is not snowing? If so, can you please make an option so that snow can only build up when it's snowing please? I feel that this would be more realistic.
