Simple Prefix: Allows you to easily manage your chat with prefixes and suffixes.
This plugin uses prefixes and suffixes that are very easy to configure, from inside of an yml config file. You apply prefixes and suffixes per user or group in the /SimplePrefix/config.yml file.
Alternatively, Simple Prefix can be configured to get the prefixes and suffixes from Vault supported chat plugins instead (PermissionsEx, bPermissions, etc.)
You can fully alter the chat format. For example, you could achieve the following ingame:
- [Admin] Flabaliki: my message here
Or even, just completely mix and match the template to get the look you want.
A developer API is available to those who wish to access prefixes and suffixes and use them within their own plugin. Click "Metadata" above.
That's basically what this is, just a lightweight plugin for quickly getting your prefixes and suffixes to work, however you want.
Read the Configuration page for instructions on how to use the plugin.
Features:
- Uses permissions to apply prefixes and suffixes to selected users or groups.
- Alternatively, can use prefixes and suffixes from plugins supported by Vault.
- Formatting/color codes are fully supported.
- Configure the chat format to display however you want.
- Developer API for fetching prefixes and suffixes.
- Easy to use commands for adding / removing prefixes in game.
- Set prefixes and suffixes per group or per user.
- Plays nicely with Essentials /nick command.
- Option to allow multiple prefixes / suffixes, and a configurable separator which is placed between them to separate them.
- A prefix or suffix tier system (so that you can make multiple ranking ladders).
- UUID support
- Offline mode server support (using usernames instead of UUIDs)
- Factions chat tags support (read our Configuration page)
Installation:
- Place Simple Prefix.jar into your plugins folder
- Restart or reload your server
- Edit your config.yml (see here for info)
Please carefully read the Configuration page!

There are no errors in the console and when I say it doesn't work I mean that the player does not give the said player a prefix or suffix. I have used different versions of the plugin but the most recent version I have used (2.3.5 I believe) says that it has given the prefix/suffix but the player does not receive it. I have not been using the donation system with SimplePrefix yet so thank you for your advise and I have only been testing it when I run the commands myself. I'm also sure that I have spelt the username correctly just in case you are wondering. Thanks

Can you describe it further? What doesn't work about the prefix commands? Are there any errors, do you see any message in chat? Is there any change in the Simple Prefix config file?
Also, if you're going to give prefixes to players when they donate, I suggest you create a group in Simple Prefix for donators, that already has the prefix, and use your donation plugin to tell your permissions plugin to give the permission for this Simple Prefix group. Unless, of course, you let players choose custom prefixes when they are donating. In which case, you're right, you'll need to use the simple prefix commands to set their prefixes.

@benua2000
I haven't been able to reproduce this problem, nor discover why it is happening.
I do know that it probably only happens on offline mode servers. If you are running an offline mode server, just change it to online mode, dude (unless you're running bungeecord, of course).
I will try to make an update that fixes this, but it may take time because I am busy.

Sorry, I probably won't be changing that. If you either:
- Set up your SimplePrefix config file correctly (read the configuration page)
- Know how to use permissions properly
then it shouldn't be a problem.

Posted Nov 3, 2014Hey, i have a problem. My prefixes wont show up. I tried /spr p <prefix> but it doesnt work. EDIT: Apparently any prefix plugins wont work. No errors on console. But with this plugin works (kinda) Not in minecraft chat but in console, no errors again but in console it shows <My time> <prefix> <username> Instead, in mc chat, <time> <world> <username>.
And my config.yml file is looking like this (i deleted it):
Template: multiSuffix: true multiPrefixSeparator: '&r, ' multiSuffixSeparator: '&r-' User: 'null': prefix: a Version: 2.3.4 Use-Vault: false Auto-Update: true Group: {} Worlds: {}
Help me please.

I see. Yes, this is definitely related to how the plugin retrieves UUIDs. Let's continue this conversation in PMs.

Sorry for the confusion, but I am using actual names and prefixes instead of those placeholders. It still generals 'null': as the name in the config. Could it be something with using the player's name instead of the UUID? For example: In the config file you already have a example user of 069a79f4-44e9-4726-a5be-fca90e38aaf5: prefix: '&c[Notch]&f. I have used previous versions of your plugin before without problems and this UUID used to be a name, so could this change to UUID be the problem?

Oh my, you're actually, literally, typing this aren't you: "spr p u <name> <prefix>".
Instead of <name> you're supposed to write the player's name, and instead of <prefix> you're supposed to write the prefix you'd like. Placeholders like these are commonly used in most plugins.

Oh, I see. Thank you for taking the time to answer to my problems. As for the first, no messages come from the console except the message saying prefix for user <name> set to: <prefix>, and in the config it is still 'null': etc. It doesn't seem to make a difference if the user receiving the prefix is opped or not.

Posted Oct 26, 2014I'm having two problems with this plugin. First, setting user prefixes seems to not be working (using the /spr p u <name> <prefix> generates 'null': prefix: '<prefix>' in the config file under users but doesn't do anything in-game). Second, being an op makes your prefix the topmost group in the config. Using permissionsbukkit if that matters at all.

You should give your prefixes to user groups, so that the default group (in your permissions) gets your default prefix.

Posted Oct 25, 2014Is there a way to automatically give a new player a prefix when they join? I've set the default and user prefixes, but when a new player joins I have to set it for each player. How can I set it up automatically for On-Player-Join?

I'm using this old and otherwise UUID free Spigot build: This server is running CraftBukkit version git-Spigot-1.7.2-R0.3-122-gb58e277 (MC: 1.7.2) (Implementing API version 1.7.2-R0.4-SNAPSHOT)
Sometimes it runs for hours without anything, but other times it spews those errors out every few seconds. It's not dependent on playercount or serverload.
Thanks a lot for looking into it.
