Simple Prefix: Allows you to easily manage your chat with prefixes and suffixes.
This plugin uses prefixes and suffixes that are very easy to configure, from inside of an yml config file. You apply prefixes and suffixes per user or group in the /SimplePrefix/config.yml file.
Alternatively, Simple Prefix can be configured to get the prefixes and suffixes from Vault supported chat plugins instead (PermissionsEx, bPermissions, etc.)
You can fully alter the chat format. For example, you could achieve the following ingame:
- [Admin] Flabaliki: my message here
Or even, just completely mix and match the template to get the look you want.
A developer API is available to those who wish to access prefixes and suffixes and use them within their own plugin. Click "Metadata" above.
That's basically what this is, just a lightweight plugin for quickly getting your prefixes and suffixes to work, however you want.
Read the Configuration page for instructions on how to use the plugin.
Features:
- Uses permissions to apply prefixes and suffixes to selected users or groups.
- Alternatively, can use prefixes and suffixes from plugins supported by Vault.
- Formatting/color codes are fully supported.
- Configure the chat format to display however you want.
- Developer API for fetching prefixes and suffixes.
- Easy to use commands for adding / removing prefixes in game.
- Set prefixes and suffixes per group or per user.
- Plays nicely with Essentials /nick command.
- Option to allow multiple prefixes / suffixes, and a configurable separator which is placed between them to separate them.
- A prefix or suffix tier system (so that you can make multiple ranking ladders).
- UUID support
- Offline mode server support (using usernames instead of UUIDs)
- Factions chat tags support (read our Configuration page)
Installation:
- Place Simple Prefix.jar into your plugins folder
- Restart or reload your server
- Edit your config.yml (see here for info)
Please carefully read the Configuration page!

As of version 2.3.1, this plugin uses an automatic updater to check if you are running the latest version, and if not, it downloads the latest version. To disable this please set "Auto-Update" to "false" in the config.yml file.

Simple Prefix is designed to be your only prefix/chat management plugin, not a secondary one. You should either use this, or EssentialsChat, but not both.
About the Factions prefix, I'll look into that.

Posted Sep 6, 2014When I use this plugin, it totally breaks my chat - it takes control over essentials chat plugin (which is not what I want) and faction prefixes doesn't show at all...
All I need to do is: assign another prefix before player's nick if that player has defined permission.
So it will look like this:
[Faction prefix] [SECOND PREFIX] [first prefix] nick > text
Prefix added by this plugin should be that marked with bold letters.

What do you mean? If you're saying that OPs have permissions for all the prefixes, and that causes them to have the wrong prefix (like a player prefix), you just have to get the order straight:
"If the user has multiple nodes, for group prefix or suffixes, the top most one in the config.yml file will be used. For example, if a user has both; simpleprefix.owner and simpleprefix.mod, then the owner group should be placed above the mod group, in the config file. This will make the owner group more important than the mod group, and owners won't get the mod prefix."
If you need to deny any specific permissions from OPs, just do so with you permissions plugin.

If you did remove the plugin, and restarted your server, then the Simple Prefix prefix and suffixes should be gone. If you see them, then another plugin is showing them.

Posted Aug 21, 2014Sorry for the delay people! I have finally uploaded a new update.
- The new version (v2.3.4) supports retrieving prefixes and suffixes from plugins such as PermissionsEx, bPermissions and others, with the use of Vault. This option is configurable.
- Also, in the new version, the bug about the suffix command setting prefixes instead is fixed.
- I have also changed how Simple Prefix processes chat formatting codes, although you probably won't notice a difference.

Posted Aug 14, 2014I messaged the author almost two weeks ago but nobody responded, so I'm going to comment here as well as message other authors.
My simpleprefix refuses to display a prefix for anyone but the admin group, and instead the prefix acts as if nothing is there (just displays a space where the prefix could be).
pls respond~ lol

Posted Aug 13, 2014Oh, I nearly forgot to ask - do you have a place where you store development/bleeding edge builds? I couldn't find a link for that either, and I wasn't sure if you publicized them or not.

Well, I can not provide support for another plugin. I know nothing about that plugin. However, I will say one thing; it looks to me like the problem might be because he placed a space inside a char instead of a string. He should use quotation marks instead of apostrophes, to make it a string.

Ah yes, that's caused by a small typo in the code. I was going to make an update to fix that, but then forgot about it. Thanks for reminding.
