Simple Prefix: Allows you to easily manage your chat with prefixes and suffixes.
This plugin uses prefixes and suffixes that are very easy to configure, from inside of an yml config file. You apply prefixes and suffixes per user or group in the /SimplePrefix/config.yml file.
Alternatively, Simple Prefix can be configured to get the prefixes and suffixes from Vault supported chat plugins instead (PermissionsEx, bPermissions, etc.)
You can fully alter the chat format. For example, you could achieve the following ingame:
- [Admin] Flabaliki: my message here
Or even, just completely mix and match the template to get the look you want.
A developer API is available to those who wish to access prefixes and suffixes and use them within their own plugin. Click "Metadata" above.
That's basically what this is, just a lightweight plugin for quickly getting your prefixes and suffixes to work, however you want.
Read the Configuration page for instructions on how to use the plugin.
Features:
- Uses permissions to apply prefixes and suffixes to selected users or groups.
- Alternatively, can use prefixes and suffixes from plugins supported by Vault.
- Formatting/color codes are fully supported.
- Configure the chat format to display however you want.
- Developer API for fetching prefixes and suffixes.
- Easy to use commands for adding / removing prefixes in game.
- Set prefixes and suffixes per group or per user.
- Plays nicely with Essentials /nick command.
- Option to allow multiple prefixes / suffixes, and a configurable separator which is placed between them to separate them.
- A prefix or suffix tier system (so that you can make multiple ranking ladders).
- UUID support
- Offline mode server support (using usernames instead of UUIDs)
- Factions chat tags support (read our Configuration page)
Installation:
- Place Simple Prefix.jar into your plugins folder
- Restart or reload your server
- Edit your config.yml (see here for info)
Please carefully read the Configuration page!

Posted Jul 9, 2013Hello? Is this plug in ever going to be updated again? It's essential to my server. Please respond and at least let us know if you're going to update or not...if not I'm gonna have a lot of work to do. I'd just like an answer either way. Thanks for your hard work.

Posted Jun 7, 2013can you make this compatible with townychat?
because i want a different prefix for my tiered jobs. (if my player go to the next tier jobs, it will have a different prefix, example, from beginner he has &bBeginner prefix, then when he go to the next jobs, he will get &5Rookie (beginner dissapear).
i think the only thing can do is simpleprefix, but i need townychat format (town name, ext)

Posted Jun 6, 2013For some reason when I turn on the multiprefix setting it doubles up the prefix ... ok looks like it only doubles then when you use /spr reload in game ... if I stop and restart the server it works like is should.

Thanks for that. Apologies that I did not mention this however the example from my config file is from the Simple Prefix config.yml, not my permissions.yml in PermissionsEx.
However, would your solution still work? I assume where you put:
prefix: ' [Custom] '
I would put:
prefix: ' [Admin] '

Posted Jun 2, 2013As this plugin doesn't pick up from the permission.yml in PermissionsEx to check the groups users are in, how do you set a user to be in one of the groups?
I don't want to have to put their prefix in, I want to just put in something like this:
Can the in-game commands do that in any way?
Edit: just tested that, it shows me as:
<[Nether] [Example] Zippyduda>

Posted May 29, 2013I like this plugin .. however can you make a permission that is simpleprefix.* .. this way we can remove all the prefixes and then add the one we want for that group .. if you do not add this .. when we have inhereitances we have to remove every prefix permission that came before it
Edit:
Never mind .. don't know what I was thinking .. I was removing the permissions multiple times .. forgot that inheritances also added removed permissions ;-)

Posted May 26, 2013I'm not sure whats happened, but my plugin.yml has this inside it:- [spoiler] name: Simple Prefix main: com.flabaliki.simpleprefix.SimplePrefix version: 2.2.1 author: Flabaliki description: Easy prefixes & suffixes website: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/simple-prefix/ commands: spr: description: Multiple commands, use '/spr help' to see all. usage: "/spr help" [/spoiler]
Is this all there is supposed to be? I get the same when I redownload the simpleprefix.jar In game /spr help and /spr ? does nothing except print /spr help or /spr ? to chat. Just to clarify, I am opped so should have all the required permissions, correct?
None of the other commands respond either. If i was getting the 'you do not have permission for that command' error, at least i'd know where to start looking. But I'm not even getting that.

Posted May 22, 2013Edit: Instead of all perms, add simpleprefix.command.* to yourself for all commands access. Sorry, my bad.

Posted May 22, 2013@winterbrine You need to open it with Notepad++.
@tardis511 Perhaps you haven't configured permissions? Just add the perms to the PermissionsBukkit/config.yml file (make sure you got it installed), add them to yourself, and if you want people who just joined to be able to edit their prefix/suffix add them to default group. Also type your username in place of "ConspracyWizard" to grant yourself all admin perms so you can change perms in-game.
Hmm, may post a tutorial on this later.
