Sentry is a character plugin for the NPC plugin Citizens2. With Sentry, NPC's can be set to guard areas or act as bodyguards. Hostile targeting, retaliation, and a variety of options and stats allow a Sentry NPC to be customized to almost any guarding or combat situation.
Features
Sentries Can:
- Attack monsters, players, and groups automatically. Sentry also has built-in support for Factions, Towny, War and SimpleClans
- Kill, and be killed by, players, monsters, and the environment.
- Guard locations, paths, players, or other NPCs.
- Use ranged or melee weapons. Shoot arrows, fireballs, snowballs, eggs, lightning, and potions with deadly accuracy.
- Be configured with stats such as Strength, Health, Armor, Speed, Range and even Night Vision!
- Ride mounts!
- Work with Denizen to become Bosses and Quest NPCs that run scripts upon death.
Installation
- Install Citizens2 You must use the correct version for your version of Bukkit
- Download the correct Sentry from the Citizens Wiki. You must use the correct version for your version of Bukkit
- Place Sentry.jar in your minecraft /plugins/ directory. Start your server.
- Create a NPC with Citizens and give it the 'sentry' trait.
/npc create Town Guard --trait sentry
- Customize your Sentry's stats and options and you're ready to go.
A full list of commands and options is available on the Citizens 2 Wiki
Configuration
Sentry makes a config.yml in the plugins/Sentry folder on first load. Use this to tailor Sentry to your server. You can:
- Set defaults for new sentries
- Change or disable the item used for various attack types
- Add potion effects like slow or blindness to certain Sentry weapons.
- Add armor, strength and speed buffs to armor and weapons for Sentries.
- Set critical hit chances and messages.
The config.yml is commented with instructions.

Posted Jul 3, 2013I'm really sorry if this question has been asked a lot, but I can't seem to find an answer. I understand from Googling that skins cannot be assigned to NPCs, but I don't understand how you made the 14th Archer Brigade and the Sentry look the way you did in the photo above and on the wiki site here: http://wiki.citizensnpcs.com/Sentry
I just got in to setting up a server for my son and his friends to play on and I am experimenting with designing towns with NPC quests, etc. If there is some way to make the NPCs look differently besides giving them armor can you please let me know? If I am so off-base that this question is just stupid, please feel free to ignore!

Posted Jul 1, 2013Okay, I'm really stuck with this... I deleted the other comment because I thought I'd worked it out but it didn't work How do you delete these sentries? I've tried killing it, I've tried using the despawn command, I've even gone into the sentries plugin folder and deleted the information for it in the saves file, yet it reloads and comes back every time surely when you spawn a sentry it isn't stuck in the world forever and you can get rid of it, so how? I can't find any information on how you get rid of them

Posted Jun 27, 2013On the server that I run, we use a plugin called RacesAndClasses which seems to conflict with the Sentry plugin. Due to the nature of RacesAndClasses, it modifies your player health, which seems to cause a problem with the Sentry traited Citizen NPCs. When they hit you, it flashes your health down to the correct amount, however, the plugin brings it back up. Is there any way I can fix this?

read the wiki/explanations/tutorials:
give him one waypoint. that way he will always walk back after action / respawn there after death.
use the nornal npc path editor to give him one waypoint.

Posted Jun 12, 2013Is there a way to make Sentry find their target even if their are through a wall or not directly visible for the NPC?
I want them to attack invisible targets too (I set them event:PvP but invisible can attack players)

I fixed the bodyguard by going into the Citizens (not Sentry) config.yml file and changing this
to false.

Posted Jun 10, 2013If the 'ghost' drops disappear on logout/login then they do not actually exist on the server, and they can only be seen on the client. I'm not sure why the client would be adding ghost drops, but there is nothing I can do from Sentry to fix this.

Use /npc path on your sentry, and follow the onscreen instructions.
