Sentry is a character plugin for the NPC plugin Citizens2. With Sentry, NPC's can be set to guard areas or act as bodyguards. Hostile targeting, retaliation, and a variety of options and stats allow a Sentry NPC to be customized to almost any guarding or combat situation.
Features
Sentries Can:
- Attack monsters, players, and groups automatically. Sentry also has built-in support for Factions, Towny, War and SimpleClans
- Kill, and be killed by, players, monsters, and the environment.
- Guard locations, paths, players, or other NPCs.
- Use ranged or melee weapons. Shoot arrows, fireballs, snowballs, eggs, lightning, and potions with deadly accuracy.
- Be configured with stats such as Strength, Health, Armor, Speed, Range and even Night Vision!
- Ride mounts!
- Work with Denizen to become Bosses and Quest NPCs that run scripts upon death.
Installation
- Install Citizens2 You must use the correct version for your version of Bukkit
- Download the correct Sentry from the Citizens Wiki. You must use the correct version for your version of Bukkit
- Place Sentry.jar in your minecraft /plugins/ directory. Start your server.
- Create a NPC with Citizens and give it the 'sentry' trait.
/npc create Town Guard --trait sentry
- Customize your Sentry's stats and options and you're ready to go.
A full list of commands and options is available on the Citizens 2 Wiki
Configuration
Sentry makes a config.yml in the plugins/Sentry folder on first load. Use this to tailor Sentry to your server. You can:
- Set defaults for new sentries
- Change or disable the item used for various attack types
- Add potion effects like slow or blindness to certain Sentry weapons.
- Add armor, strength and speed buffs to armor and weapons for Sentries.
- Set critical hit chances and messages.
The config.yml is commented with instructions.

Thanks for the reply.
Is it maybe possible to make other sentries hostile to, when the one i will put in the area has spotted you?

/npc speed sets the path speed. /sentry speed sets the speed while aggressive.
Sentry aggression is based on radius, line-of-sight, and light level, you can't really set up an 'area' other than putting the sentry right in the middle of it.

Posted Oct 16, 2012Is it possible to make sentries walk their path slower, but when they spot something they want to attack they start walking at normal speed (or slightly faster than normal)
Also, I want to make something where sentries will turn hostile if they see you walking in a certain area. So as long as they dont notice you in that area it's fine, but if they see you they should attack you (because you're trespassing)

I just updated to v2.0.3 build #465 but it didn't work. The spamming msg still appears too :/
Edit: I updated sentry as well but still didn't fix it. What do you think is going on? Does it happen to you or anyone else?
Edit: Ok nevermind! I got it! I didn't delete the previous sentry.jar when I installed the updated sentry.jar.

Posted Oct 15, 2012I'm having trouble with sentries loosing their pathways. When ever a walking sentry spots a target and defeats it, it doesn't return to its path. It just stands there. How can I fix this?
Also, every time I reload my server, I get a spamming error message on the console that fills up the log like crazy.

That's a lie, we've told them repeatedly how to check if a 'Player' is a NPC so they can ignore it, they CAN do it, they just don't want to. It can't be fixed from our end without a complete re-write from the ground up of Citizens2. In any case there's nothing at all that can be done from Sentry.

Posted Oct 14, 2012Any chance you can add simpleclans to the supported list? It'd be great to set sentry's to only attack other clans.

@jrbudda
The lead developer from heroes told me that it is how they interact its not a bug. They cant fix it from their end.
