Runecraft
Runecraft is a gameplay modification for SMP, that adds magic to the game without any commands. Runecraft is the longest running Minecraft mod, dating back to the Alpha days. Runecraft boasts over 120 runes and is still under active development. Everything you need in one, immersive, magic plugin.
Magic is done through the form of "runes", significant shapes of materials laid out in the actual game world. These runes can create unique short-term tool enchants, teleporters, hidden walls/passageways, and even the ability to create mobile teleporting bases.
- Player built simple Teleporters that use unique combinations of blocks to identify destinations
- Specific enchantments for dealing with natural hazards (lava, floods, falling gravel)
- Magic blocks that flip between two blocks when you activate them, or reveal secret passages
- Redstone compatibility: allowing runes to be activated by redstone signals
- Multi-world support: all features are completely compatible with multiple-world servers
- Commandless setup: Runecraft is designed for minimum hassle in configuring it. plugin and go!
- Easy configuration: it's simple to disable a rune entirely, or a rune per person.
- Optional permissions compatibility
- Requires no client modification
Runecraft prides itself on its immersive nature, with no need for any slash commands. Everything can be done in-game by players, constructing the runes to create the effects they're looking for. Runecraft is an extremely popular addon for roleplay, PVP, and small servers because of it's out of the box ability to just be installed and start running, and covering a variety of pseudo-administrative and gameplay mechanics from an entirely in game point of view.

It can be a little mean to use. Considering you can place tons of touch curses on doors and such. Not to mention one can use True Names to cast curses on others.
Perhaps you could add some type of curse protection rune? I know Void Wards are good for protecting ones self and home, but that's only for protecting a set area. Perhaps a type of armor rune that protects the user from curses, but notifies them when they trigger one, so they can then dispel them from the area.

We might indeed expand on the curse and hex system. We might add this curse here and here. Unsure as the system itself can be relatively mean and a couple dev's do not like it.

Posted Mar 23, 2015Hey guys! Been a while since any updates! There will be a new Runecraft version coming soon! Runecraft 2.99, the last version before Runecraft 3.0 and the new code!
What will be changing in the new version? Glad you asked! We are implementing many bug fixes with bows and pegasus. That is right! Bow runes will 100% work as well as well as Hell's maw will not delete chunks anymore! :) Pegasus/Faith, will be fixed to allow you to use pegasus as well as the glass will not stick around any more. :) We are also implementing Inheritance, a one time "will" if you may. After the activation of this rune, you will keep your inventory. This is one time, meaning you must remake it, to get another use.

The rune itself is not fully implemented, there is still some work to be done. What it does, however, is create a void world for the player that activates it. It is quite expensive, requiring a dragon egg and fully powered beacon to use.

Posted Feb 26, 2015I love Runecraft. Always have, probably always will. My first use was back during Beta 1.3, when my server owner installed it to make long-distance travel faster, but at cost and effort. I look forward to using it on my own server and will gladly support it in any way I can!

Ah I see, I wasn't aware that there was a separate page where you were listing changes until you were done, I had assumed that you were just making changes to the base page, I'll be excited to read up on all the functionality of the new runes. Oh, one additional thing, the filter block slot on the reality master doesn't seem to do it's intended purpose as when I place a smooth stone block there it still breaks smooth stone and gives me tons of cobble despite the fact it should be skipping over any smooth stone it encounters. Posted Feb 9, 2015Sorry to bug you guys so much but I have been having a problem with the freight teleporter/freightpoint rune. I set both up with the same signature, it says it accepts the freightpoint rune just fine and when I click the freight transport it says its accepted (so I know I am making both runes correctly) however it claims that "Such a destination has not been opened." when I have already activated a freightpoint with a matching signature to my freight transporter. Any help provided on this matter will be appreciated.

Thanks so much, I've tested it and it accepts the rune, however I may not fully understand it's purpose, I thought that what it did was keep a chunk loaded even when you are not there, so I was trying to use it to keep a mob grinder operational even while I was not nearby, however it didn't work, do I have a misunderstanding about how it should work? Also I have read a few mentions of a flight rune, but found no actual rune, do you know the pattern for that? Thank you for all your time and effort.

Amuxix is not one of the dev's but is indeed one of our friends! :) Currently I am the only dev on-site as C'tri has become too busy with real life. As for how he is getting the information, he is asking me for what each rune limits are. The Wiki is getting updated, which may take a while and currently Talwyn and Amuxix are the ones doing it to my knowledge. We hope to have bow runes working as well as many bugs fixed in the next release! :) Hope you have fun! :D

Thanks so much, is there anywhere where this info is posted that you found it? or are you one of the devs? Since that seems like the only way that this stuff would be found out without just outright stumbling onto the rune. I see mentions of a flight rune on the gaempedia but no actual flight rune, am I not seeing something or is that not posted as well? Is there some way I can look into the data in the mod itself and see what is required for the different runes? Thank you so much for your prompt reply, and if you are one of the devs then please keep up the great work, runecraft is my favorite mod of all time and was my primary reason for starting up own server, to have a server with it on it to play with my friends. Also, so happy to hear this mod is being ported to Sponge, can't wait for release. Thanks.

I'm in the process of updating the gamepedia with all the missing runes.

The (the question mark) is the fuel slot. I don't know how much time it fuels it for.
The Cobblestone are tier blocks which affect the radius of the rune.
Also it might tell you it activated hellsmaw and get rid of the lowest layer, it is a known bug. Just rebuild that layer and you are good to go.
If you want patterns for any other rune just ask while I don't get it up to date.

Posted Jan 28, 2015Does anyone know where a more comprehensive list of runes can be found, as there are several missing from the gamepedia list of the more recent runes that I would love to know how to do, such as the memento rune, which I have been trying to get working for ages. If anyone knows how to make these runes please let me know, thanks.

The waypoint/teleporter is pretty much my favorite utility from any mod ever.

Posted Jan 1, 2015Thank you for continuing to work on this guys. It's great to have a dev build to play with. While I was playing with it I found that random blocks would disappear. I suspect that this is happening during teleportation, but I'm not certain. If I find out more I'll let you know.
