Residence


About
Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.

- Dynmap Residence - Dynmap plugin that shows residences on the webmap.
- ResExtras - Control snow, ice, animals, mobs, and more within a residence.
- Residence Fly - Controls flying within a residence. Leaving will cause a player to fall.

can you disable some of these items if they are not really need? Can you make another dev with some tweak to use cpu diffrent?
add expire time for inactive players. Remove all res they left behind. or add command to do res cleanup 10d

Hmm, yea something like that would be really helpful heh :) The lease system was something that was supposed to do this, but it is a bit poorly designed, as it requires the user to renew each residence through a command rather then automatically upon enter. It really needs a overhaul (heck, I don't even remember exactly how it worked lol) I am hoping to get some more developers to help since I dont have much time :(

Hmm, I will try to find time later tonight to run a few tests myself. I did look at the NoLagg exams you posted a few days back, and Residence does chew alot more then your other plugins, but it also does alot more heh :) (based on your logs, I calculated it using between 14-16 seconds used per every 4 mins and 10 seconds) Can you tell me the exact CraftBukkit build your using so I can do tests on the same one? Thanks :)

believe me there is something wrong with residence :) I tested it enough to say I cant use it anymore. Even if its bukkit + residence on bukkits fault residence will lose many users :/ (But one + for you I looked into worldguard and residence is MUCH better wouldnt there be the lag :( )

There was about 10 people in. I think we have a crap load. I just wish if the owner does not access the res after so many days, i will remove it auto.

I don't think this is actually whats causing the issue. 2604ms every 1000 ticks translates to 2.604 seconds every 50 seconds (20 ticks per second / 1000 ticks = 50 second, this means residence is only using 2.6 seconds for processing per every 50 seconds). As a average, this is about 5% of each second is used on residence. I don't think this should be causing extreme lag, I think something else is going on here. Also, out of curiosity, how many people were on the server when you took this measurement? EDIT: Also, how many residences do you have?

Please remember that you are using beta or development versions of bukkit, and there may be bugs or issues within bukkit itself that residence is having problems with. If the lag issue persists through to a recommended bukkit build, then we can look at trying to change residence to fix it.

Posted Mar 16, 2012When i run the server with the 2.5.3 update i get the error Essentials API is called before Essentials is loaded. How do i fix this please? I can't remember the version i was on before that didn't do this.

Posted Mar 15, 2012Yes none of the other protection plugins are this easy to use. Worldgaurd requireds to many inputs to create a subzone. Residence can create and assign the subzone in as little as 4 actions. Worldguard looks like 5-7 depending on how many zones its in.
I do hope someone picks this up and makes it fully compatible with 1.2.
I am using it right now and thought the lag problem I was getting was from a different plugin on my server. I will remove residence and see if the issue is gone.

Posted Mar 15, 2012:/ We have to start new maps now and switch from residence to something else because its unplayable with those lags. And I guess everyone else using residence has to do this as fast as he can if residence doesnt stop to lag servers O.o
(We used residence since we start our server so it was an hard decision to leave it but necessary.)
