Residence


About
Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.

- Dynmap Residence - Dynmap plugin that shows residences on the webmap.
- ResExtras - Control snow, ice, animals, mobs, and more within a residence.
- Residence Fly - Controls flying within a residence. Leaving will cause a player to fall.
- Residence Signs - Easy buying/selling/renting with signs.
- ResTown - Controls which users can build outside of a residence.
- ResProtect - Protects animals via flags
- ResCreative - Grants creative on entering a residence.
- ResPerm - Adds additional permissions to a player on residence change.

I apologize for the ingrate remark, that was uncalled for, especially considering you do indeed contribute to discussion here, and the fact that you followed the correct procedure for reporting errors, I was a little overprepared to scold those that came on just to post a vague comment about it not working and posting stacktraces in comments, and such I targeted a friendly. Sorry about that. For the record, the build I had posted earlier will work on 1.4.6 and as such your issue is resolved.

Posted Dec 20, 2012Thanks for the explanation about what's going on with Bukkit, Toothpick1. I mainly manage Source engine based game servers (Team Fortress 2) and while the developers of SourceMod commonly have to fix some things once in a while when Valve pushes out major engine updates, it doesn't sound anywhere near as bad as what you describe has to be done for Bukkit and complex plugins.
Anyway, I'll try your latest build on my server when I update to 1.4.5 R-1.0. Been using CB #2504 so I could keep some plugins working while authors made required changes. Thank you for keeping Residence updated because I love using it on my server (especially for player owned shops that you can stack on top of each other). :)

wait im the ingrate? So me posting an error so you guys can get a nice head start and not have to deal with complainers, makes me an ingrate? You sir, are an idiot.
And i do appreciate the work you guys do. My proof is the post i made below posting about the error. If you look at my past comments you will also see i have helped users with questions they have, in order to help keep the load on you guys down. So how dare you even call me an ingrate? Its people like yourself that cause so many problems when it comes to pointless arguments.
With this i leave as my last post, as there is no need to continue this pointless conversation.

I obviously do keep others in mind, otherwise I wouldn't have made a working build weeks before I personally need it, out of the kindness of my heart with no compensation and having to deal with ingrates like yourself.

Posted Dec 20, 2012I created a backup before all the 1.45 r1 updates. with the backup, it works (old versions) but as soon as I copy the world files over, it errors starting up. Works with new ones though. Those same world files work with old version.

Posted Dec 20, 2012Update Residence and it errors out with my old world.yml saves. If I delete those and let it start over it works fine. BUT I don't want to redo all my residences.. Is there a fix?

Posted Dec 20, 2012I have several residential lots within a city. I want to set it up so people can buy the lots within the city, but the rest of the city is protected by world guard. How would I go about doing this without have to put layer, upon layer, upon layer, upon layer, of world guard region definitions? Basically lay down a giant region protection, but allow users to buy the residential lots within that protection and have access to build, use, and destroy the land they purchase? (Lay one large protection blanket and cut holes in it figuratively).

Updated to that, messages didn't go null :)
I'll keep a look for more bugs but so far it seems pretty stable, performance wise I haven't done a side by side but it seems faster overall. However I've been changing plugins around with this bukkit update it may not be the best example.

Btw I would especially like to hear of any performance increases if any, because I implemented a caching system to cache active res's for easier lookup so it should be much faster.

It's not the api changes, bukkit recently decided to change the craftbukkit packaging names every minecraft update, while this will not affect the majority of plugin writers, alot of the more complicated plugins that are forced to use native minecraft code to accomplish what the bukkit api is not able to/will not be able to do, those plugins will now have to reimport and rename and recompile every single major minecraft update. Regardless of whether or not they are broken. Many people feel inconvenienced by this. It seems that some of them, such as dockter below, have decided to stop dealing with bukkit because they feel that the bukkit team is trying to force them to stop using the methods they were using.
