RemoveThis
Automatically Clean Up Abandoned Chests, Furnaces, Anything!
Ever been on a server that is so loaded with abandoned chests and other items that you have to walk miles (well, lots of blocks) just to find some where to build? Well then your server admins need this plugin!
This plugin lets an operator place a special sign on items like chests or furnaces that tells the owner to remove the item or it will automatically be removed by the expiration time.
All the operator has to do is click on the object to be flagged for removal while holding a sign, and RemoveThis automatically generates a sign and schedules a removal time.
For example the sign might look like this:

This created sign is placed on the item and is unbreakable by players. After the set expiration time the sign and the flagged item will be removed automatically, this includes any items that may be inside the removed item (i.e a chest full of items, everything will be deleted).
Future releases will also add the ability to remove a cuboid region instead of just one item.
This is aimed at cleaning up all the abandoned chests, furnaces and other items that end up lying around on many servers.
Installation
Simply copy the RemoveThis.jar file to your server's plugin folder and reload your plugins or restart your server.
Configuration
No configuration is necessary but you can change the amount of time before the flagged items are deleted.
Run RemoveThis at least once and it will generate a config.yml file in the RemoveThis Folder inside your plugins folder. Change the time value in the config.yml file to the amount of time you would like, save the file and then reload your plugins or restart your server.
Permissions
Setting permissions isn't required, but the following permissions exist if you would like to use them:
"removethis.create"
Description: Place RemoveThis Sign and Schedule Item Removal
Default: op
"removethis.destroy"
Description: Delete RemoveThis Sign and Scheduled Item Removal
Default: op

RemoveThis is in a very early phase of beta testing, so it has not been implemented yet, I've been very busy on my other plugin (ProtectionStones).

Posted Feb 4, 2012Reading previous comments it says that you will offer compatibility with chest protection plugins such as LWC, lockette. has this feature been implemented yet?

My plugins goal is currently very low strain and the player still has full control over their chests and any other item marked for removal, but if they don't remove it by the time limit it will be deleted permanently.

Posted Feb 3, 2012Hmm. some measures should be made to make sure no strain is made on the server..
and also another question.. When a chest is scheduled for removal can a user access the chest?
Thank you for the great plugin!

I'll think about adding it after the initial design is completed.
A plugin to do what you're asking for would need to track all chests (etc.) and this might cause a strain on some servers.
But it does sound like a good idea.

Posted Feb 2, 2012This looks like a great plugin. Can you add a feature where all chests that haven't been accessed in 7 days will be removed in 3 days?
So player A's chest is chest A Chest A hasn't been accessed by Player A in 7 days. Now deletion time will be activated.
In 3 days Player A's chest a will be deleted.

Posted Jan 30, 2012RemoveThis "Working" Beta has been uploaded.
The config.yml lets you set the time for deletion which defaults to "7 Days"
You may set Days or Minutes.
Current Beta copy only deletes one block per sign the finished version will also allow a group of blocks.
The Beta version also does not save and load a database, so if you restart your server all the signs not removed will be "orphaned" and not functional.
This is for testing purposes only, not for "live" production servers.

The first working Beta will allow you to select an area like WorldEdit but using a different method.
Here is how it will work:
1) Place a sign where you want the area to end [left click an object while holding a sign].
2) Hit the sign you just placed with a sign in hand [left click the sign while holding a sign].
3) Now go to the start of the area [left click an object while holding a sign].
The first sign will go away, and the last sign will change from saying the name of the object it is on to "BLOCKS".
As an added note, I'm working on another plugin that will be for WorldGuard Regions and will do what you are asking about with a simple single sign.
Between this plugin and one of my other ones (ProtectionStones) I'll have all the code for the plugin that clears regions.

Posted Jan 6, 2012I really like this, but perhaps have it use WorldEdit to be able to also select a region? That way I could put it on say a plot in a town for the owner to remove their things, or it gets deleted. Other than that, great idea :)
