Regios
Current stable version: v5.9.9 for CB 1.6.2-R0.1
Regios, a fully fledged, extensive and extendible Region mod. Regios allows you to easily create regions with a vast amount of properties such as protection, entry & exit control, password protection, speed and health modifiers and much more! Regios is multi-world compatible and lightweight. More so Regios is open source and has a well documented API which will allow other developers to make add-ons to make Regios even better!
NOTE: Regios v5.0.3 and later now REQUIRES Vault for Economy and/or Permissions support. You can still use Regios without Vault but it will be Op or basic superperms only and without economy support.

I haven't thought that far through, tbh. I'll probably experiment with it to see if there's any sort of performance hit after X number of points and cut it there.
Yeah, I've been trying to think of a good way of letting you see the boundries of a region in game as it can be tricky sometimes to figure exactly the size and shape of a region in your head, especially once polygon regions are implemented. :P

Do you have any clue how many points you'll allow for selections? Certainly not an unlimited amount, I would assume.
TL;DR Pylons for corners would be nice.
Also, may I suggest a feature. Markers for corners/selections. I know that there's Spout parts that allow this, but I'd like to be able to see the area in-game. I think Realms uses obsidian pylons. I think it'd just be much easier. Of course allowing us to change what material the pylons use would be nice, too.
Sorry for saying so much. Great job with this plugin. Soon enough I won't need WorldGuard.

I also saw that you plan to add non-cuboid region selection to the plugin. Will these be polygon-based regions then? Like Realms and EpicZones?
I've missed the plugin that did this since hMod. I'd be so glad to see it come back.

Posted Apr 18, 2012Hey there! I really enjoy all the region customizations with this plugin, it's great! I do have a small problem though. I can play music locally using the command and a URL, but playing globally or as a region song does not work. I've tried two different URLs with the song in .ogg format. Is this an issue on my end? Or some bug? :) Keep up the awesome work!

There's no efficent way to track entity movement that I'm aware. The only way I can think to do it is to get a list of every mob in the entire server and then go through the whole list and check each mob location to see if they are in a region and then either delete the mob or calculate the closest point outside the region and teleport the mob out. And to make it any kind of effective I'd have to repeat that process on every tick. I might try it out for kicks but I think it will be laggy.
I'll think about the time thing.

For #4 i should of been more detailed, I meant make it so mobs that are OUTSIDE a region is prevented from entering a region. Its kinda annoying when players on my server attract creepers, bring them into safe areas where the creepers wont explode and then just kill them off for the gunpowder and exp.
For #8 (Recap: add /regios allow-time (region) (Start Time) (End Time), this would make regions accessible only at specific minecraft times. And as an alternative to manually setting the minecraft time you could also do dawn, noon, dusk, night which would be preset times. )
It can be used for rpg type worlds that can be added towards a puzzle. Like maybe there's a temple with epic loot hidden inside but only during specific times will you be allowed to enter the temple's area. (i hope this makes sense, and I hope this makes you consider adding this)
