Hello everybody,
This is Tobias aka Phoenix, the developer of this project. I am sad to inform you that RegionForSale, just like the Bukkit project, is pretty much dead nowadays. I do not like the fact that Minecraft is owned by Microsoft and, even though I respect the company, I cannot see how the spirit of Minecraft fits in there at all. Shame on you for selling, Notch! I do not care about the money involved. But this game, no matter how much profit it generates, belongs into the hands of loving, independent developers (Just like Bukkit – love you guys). My opinion. To be fair: My interest shifted in general as well. So overall, I am not willing to work on this project for free anymore.
Q: What about security updates / bugfixes?
A: I will do my best to still fix those and upload a new version for you. I do not want to let you down.
Q: Will you continue if I donate xx dollar?
A: Probably not. Please try to estimate the time I spend and apply a horrific minimal wage – I am sure you still do not want to pay that. Yes, it’s quite some time.
I still want to thank you very much for the few donations I received up to this point. Developing was fun and I was so very euphoric when I received my first donation. I still remember quite well. Not to forget about the many supportive comments and “thank you”s I received despite the money.
Sincerely,
Phoenix_IV

Updating
RegionForSale provides an automatic update checker to let you get informed as soon as a new version is available. If you do not want to use this feature you can set check_for_updates to false in the general.yml config file.
Todo
- Quick-set options on signs
- Give users, who rented a region, the possibility to buy it (without unrenting + possible rebuilding). The other way round would be retarded - Tell me if you don't think so.
- Auto-updater for minor updates (?)

Posted May 2, 2014be aware that if you update your server to support uuid, this plugin will no longer work because it won't be able to take player's money. so any rented shops will become unrented at that point.

Yes I have Griefprevention but the thing is that I've been using your plugin seens 1.6.2 of spigot so all the regions are ok becaus the plugin worked excelent till now. The problem is that when you buy/rent a region, it adds you as owner of the region but you stil cant build on it.
I tested creating a region anywere and add a owner and he can build on it so I dont understand what is wrong.

Whenever you experience a problem with Spigot, please make sure you have the same problem with CraftBukkit, too.
Are you using any additional protection plugins despite WordGuard? Are there multiple regions overlapping each other (e.g. you created a big town-region afterwards)?

I see you already figured out your first question yourself. To set up the rent costs there are two config options to consider: At first the withdrawal-interval in the general.yml and second the price.rent setting in the config.yml. The first will define the interval in which the money is withdrawn, the latter the amount.

Posted Apr 27, 2014How can I set up recurring rent costs? I mean, how to make it so that players have to pay the amount for rent every x minutes?

You can already do that: Right click the region sign and then type
//rg set buyable false-

The new settings are not added automatically to your configuration to retain the files structure. You can either add them yourself or delete the file and let the plugin create a new one. But I will consider a method to add new settings automatically.
The current file is definitely correct. I just checked.
@xIPad3Zockerx
I didn't add ChestShop support as it seems to be using nothing but signs. The moment that the region is rebuilt and the signs+chests are removed the shops should be removed. Please let me know if I am wrong.

Posted Apr 23, 2014I updated today to the most recent version, but i am not seeing the new settings in general.yml as it stated in change log. Is this just an auto setting or a future setting?
Bank-account support New setting player-bank-accounts.use-if-owner in the general.yml New setting player-bank-accounts.use-if-member in the general.yml
EDIT: I was updating via the bukkit gui, it was saying the new version was 2.4 but when i looked in server folder it was still 2.3, not sure if this is an error of the gui, or an error in how the file is fed from bukkit. Not sure if i should even post lol, i downloaded and updated manually.

No offense but maybe add a announcement saying "Have You Checked You Rent?" The option sounds good but the x day grace sounds better. then they can reclaim it and not really lose it. Although players may use grace period for personal gain. So this would have to be set pretty low.
Either way both would be nice, I say UUID's 1st and the rest can come later. :) This isn't my call though. Just a thought.

Posted Apr 16, 2014Hm, I am not sure what would be the best thing to do. A warning that it's about to expire makes the most sense to me, while yes they are aware they are renting it for a limited amount of time, people easily forget when they are doing something else in-game and time flies in Minecraft :)

The rent is not going to expire unless you set a rent time limit. If you set one the player should be aware of the time that is left.
A player can run into trouble when he runs out of money, as he cannot pay his rent / taxes anymore. In this case, yes, he is about to loose his region.
Do you think it would make sense to freeze the time for an offline player? This way your plots can be blocked forever.
Right now I am thinking about a "grace period". If a player ran out of money his region will be blocked for x days. Someone came up with that idea once as far as I remember.
@sovredcat You are looking for intervals -> update; this states in which interval the plugin iterates over all regions and checks if they need to be payed. The more often it happens the higher the server load.
Your region is going to expire the very moment that the plugin iterates all regions again, which is in max. intervals.update minutes.

Posted Apr 16, 2014I set the max-rent-time to 1 minute to test, but it doesn't expire. I'm using 2.2 for 1.6.4.
Edit: I changed collect_money to 2 but it doesn't do anything.

Posted Apr 16, 2014So this plugin is almost perfect for my server together with Gringotts, I just ran into one issue:
- When a player rents a space and puts chests there with items in it the player doesn't want to: - lose their items to another player who rents the space after the rent expires - lose their items by resetting the space back to it's original state
So far I haven't thought of a solution apart from sending a warning message every 5 mins, 1 minute, 30 seconds when it's about to expire (but I can't add that myself). But it also expires when the player is offline right?
So I was wondering whether you could add an option so that time only ticks away when renting a space when the player is online and whether you could send a message when it's about to expire 15 minutes before the time is up (15m, 10m, 5m, every 30s)?
I hope this isn't too much to ask for, but I can't seem to find anything else which fits.
