Hello everybody,
This is Tobias aka Phoenix, the developer of this project. I am sad to inform you that RegionForSale, just like the Bukkit project, is pretty much dead nowadays. I do not like the fact that Minecraft is owned by Microsoft and, even though I respect the company, I cannot see how the spirit of Minecraft fits in there at all. Shame on you for selling, Notch! I do not care about the money involved. But this game, no matter how much profit it generates, belongs into the hands of loving, independent developers (Just like Bukkit – love you guys). My opinion. To be fair: My interest shifted in general as well. So overall, I am not willing to work on this project for free anymore.
Q: What about security updates / bugfixes?
A: I will do my best to still fix those and upload a new version for you. I do not want to let you down.
Q: Will you continue if I donate xx dollar?
A: Probably not. Please try to estimate the time I spend and apply a horrific minimal wage – I am sure you still do not want to pay that. Yes, it’s quite some time.
I still want to thank you very much for the few donations I received up to this point. Developing was fun and I was so very euphoric when I received my first donation. I still remember quite well. Not to forget about the many supportive comments and “thank you”s I received despite the money.
Sincerely,
Phoenix_IV

Updating
RegionForSale provides an automatic update checker to let you get informed as soon as a new version is available. If you do not want to use this feature you can set check_for_updates to false in the general.yml config file.
Todo
- Quick-set options on signs
- Give users, who rented a region, the possibility to buy it (without unrenting + possible rebuilding). The other way round would be retarded - Tell me if you don't think so.
- Auto-updater for minor updates (?)

- You will always see the status of your request

Hey unenergizer, I have never heard of a config file being "reset" only because it its getting too large. The size should be unlimied. Even WorldGuard should be able to handle all those regions without making use of a DB. Do you use SQL wih WorldGuard?
There is no SQL integration for RFS. It would also take quite a while to realize it when it would be enlisted as feature to integrate.
I currently have no explanation for this behaviour. All regions are only read once on startup and writen once on exit anyway. There are many other users with such a huge amount of regions (and even more) and they do not have any problems.
@nofatasiansplz
Something in your setup is wrong. The flag "build allow" overrides the normal builing behaviour and allows everyone to build. Member or not. Make sure to add T1 as parent-region in RFS:
//rg addparent T1@johandre
I am not sure what you mean. Did you set a rent time limit? Do the users have enough money in there wallet to pay for the regions?
(-> Something is not set up properly)

Posted Mar 7, 2014I'm having a problem with your plugin. Players are able to rent the region, but they can't build on it. I have a big region called T1 and it has market stalls which are small regions that are called "StallT1" "StallT2". When I put build allow on StallT1 they can build on the region, but the only problem is whenever a player unrents the region, they're able to still build on that region. Can you please fix this?

Posted Mar 3, 2014Does this plugin have the ablility to use SQL? I have a server with over 500+ rentable regions. I am using another plugin now for renting, but the config file gets reset because it is over 5.5k lines long.
Looking for a better solution!
Hope this is that solution!

Posted Feb 23, 2014Thank you for all the work that you do of this plugin. this plugin is quite nice. i do have a small question does this plugin have the ability to have users rent the land but not be able to edit it and only have chest access? see we have rentals that we per build with a set amount of supplies that we don't want the players to edit but only use containers. is this a feature that is already in this plugin and I'm missing something or is it not possible? thanks.

I see your need there, but please also consider that I cannot put all my time into it just because someone needs a new feature (not even a bug fix) now.

Hey, you do not have to stand in the region. You have to "select" it. You can do that by right-clicking the region sign or typing
//rg select regionID. This way you are not bound to your location ;)@KingFaris10
I hope so as well ;)
Yeah, when I started this plugin SRM was not developed anymore and meanwhile it looks like it has grown too big / complicated, but I do not want to judge as I have not really used it before and I know how much work it can be.

Posted Feb 15, 2014I hope you continue to update this plugin until you just possibly can't work on this plugin. I'm using this over the huge plugin SimpleRegionMarket because I'd rather give this a try. :)

Posted Feb 14, 2014Hi there!
I like to say this is a very nice plugin!
One problem, when i created 2 regions, and try to rent with rg rent, then on those 2 regions, i rent the same plot.
So im standing in region1, rg rent = rented region1 So im standing in region2. rg rent = rented region1
What's wrong?
Ive set up a parent also, and im creating normal regions for renting.

Check out WorldGuard's
/rg redefinecommand, you can use that to redefine the region. RFS will automatically detect the change and adjust. If you make use of rollbacks there should not be any problems if you only expand the region on the bottom side.

Posted Feb 10, 2014That did solve our problem with players being able to build above the region.
Next minor issue. When we created all of our regions, we did so at ground level. But now we want to allow players to edit the 1 block below ground level. Is there an easy way to modify the region w/o completely rebuilding it?

You shouldn't have said that :D :>
About your problem: My guess would be that the protection of the surrounding area isn't set up properly. Is the surrounding area protected at all? Make sure that it is also high enough! (Maybe it stops at the same height as your regions)

heh, well, the only issues we had were due to a couple typos in setting the permissions. So probably not much you can do there :)
Now that I think of it, one issue we do still have is with our plots that only ranked players can buy (no renting). They are defined as 10x10x18 and 21x21x30 (the signs show this). Players can buy them if they have the right rank, and they can build, however, they are able to exceed the 18 and 30 heights.
We do have rentable houses with a region defined as just the air inside the building, and if a player gets on the roof, they cannot build, so those seem to be working fine.
One thing that might be related is that we have a wall around this Mall that is roughly 10 tall, and I have a feeling that is what we used to set the parent region with. Could this be the reason?
btw, if you accepted dogecoins, i'd tip ya. ;)

Yay, thank you for the feedback, always nice to hear! :)
Are there any special problems that you've had setting up the permissions? Or, in other words, is there anything you see that would have helped you avoiding those problems? (E.g. something about the documentation).
There is always room for improvement ;)

Posted Feb 5, 2014@Phonix_IV - I just wanted to stop by and say that this plugin has been one of the best plugins we have ever worked with. We're running 1.7.2 servers and wanted to create a player run mall with rentable buildings and buyable plots, with the buyable plots only for donors. After working through a couple permission issues, everything is up and running swimmingly!
Thank you for putting this together, keeping it maintained, and documenting it well. I for one, really appreciate it as I'm sure do many others who have used this.

Please check if this also happens using CraftBukkit. If no this is definitely a BukkitForge problem.
