the-story-behind-this-mod
So, I sat there staring at a double chest filled with saplings, wondering what to do with them.
Yes, I could use them in my furnaces, but they are just as effective as sticks, and so a whole stack can only cook 32 items. Coal is so much more efficient.
Yes, I could use them to make a tree farm, but I already have a nice tree farm the size I want it.
And I realized... there's no reason that I can think of that I should not be able to craft a sapling into a stick.
Then I was looking at another chest with a pile of 6 or 7 workbenches. I don't usually use more than a few of these in my base, and the other ones came about because I was out exploring and needed one, and I picked it up afterwards to keep the forest neat and tidy.
And I realized... there's no reason that I could not recover half of the material cost. It sounds reasonable.I should be able to trade in a workbench for two planks that I can use for something else.
So I set about building a mod with a set of recipes that either reclaim materials from finished items or somehow "make sense".
