RandomLocation
RandomLocation
1.9 Update
I haven't done much with this plugin for a really long time, but as it is more or less no longer working for 1.9 I decided that it was probably time for an update. Though with studies and three other jobs, finding time for this projects isn't going to be easy. I have also decided to do a full recode of the project and planing on making it open source, allowing others to help update and implement new features in the future. Please stay tuned for more information regarding updates.
What's RandomLocation

FAQ/Help
If you have any questions just ask, BUT before you ask read:
If you have a problem at all then the first thing you should do is see if there is an update, if you got to the latest update then you can also read about all previous updates, and one of the might contain something fixing your issue. This is one of the most common request I get, as people report bugs that are old and fixed. The plugin also contains an auto updater, announcing when a new update is found. When reporting a problem, do also state your plugin version.
If you have problems with the plugin displaying "Cant find a location to teleport to" then post a comment with the following info:
- A screen shot of the result you get from "/rLoc option <ZoneName> info"
- A description of what type of condition the zone is if (does it have a roof, what is the most common ground block, what world is it in, etc.)
- The coordinates (do not have to be precise for bigger zones, can be "400,110,1000", meaning ca x ≈ 400, y ≈ 110... (for both pos1 & pos2)
If you are having lag problems then there is often two reasons. One is that players are teleported to chunks which haven't been loaded before, and therefor the server needs to generate the chunks while it is teleporting the player. To fix this you could try and use WorldBorder which got a fill feature to generate the chunks within a world border.
Another reason for lag might be that you server doesn't got much resources to disposal. Meaning either your server is over loaded or that you don't got a very strong cpu. To reduce the lag created by the plugin, check out the "Performance" section in the config page above. Look into the settings and adjust them to your needs.
Auto Updater
The plugin has its own plugin updater, which checks wether there is an update available or not. The updater will not download anything, only notify console and admins. To disable this and prevent the plugin from using any network access click on this: Config Setup and scroll down to the Auto Updater settings a bit down on the page
Metrics
As of version 4.69 Beta, this plugin utilises Hidendra's plugin metrics system, which means that the following information is collected and sent to mcstats.org:
- A unique identifier
- The server's version of Java
- Whether the server is in offline or online mode
- The plugin's version
- The server's version
- The OS version/name and architecture
- The core count for the CPU
- The number of players online
- The Metrics version
Opting out of this service can be done by editing plugins/Plugin Metrics/config.yml and changing opt-out to true
The plugin also got an auto updater, which will check for the latest version and download or only notify if it finds a method. If you want to disable this, go into the config.yml and set "Updater.Enable" to false
Bugs
To report a bug just leave a comment describing you bug, also if you got any errors in the log please provide them to with a web site like pastebin. Also provide the current MC version, RL version and other information that might be of interest like if you are running a custom build like spigot.

Posted Oct 25, 2013If it is when you are using /RadomLocation (Which isn't a plugin command, but an alias example) then you will have to change the destination zone for that alias, or remove it completely

When does it say that it couldn't find zone Default?
If it is when you type /rSpawn then you will need to do /rSet default <ZoneName>
If it is when you are using /RadomLocation (Which isn't a plugin command, but an alias example) then you will have to change the destination zone for that alias, or remove it completely
If it is when you are walking through a portal then you will have to use /rSet PortalToo <PortalZone> <NameOfDestinationZone>

Well, in the config you sent me, there was an alias for /RandomLocation which lead to the zone default. You will have to change it to something like "Aliases. RandomLocation: SkyGrid". Also you don't need to use the alias "/RadomLocation" if you don't want to as that was just an example. You could if you wanted just change "Aliases. RandomLocation: SkyGrid" to "Aliases. SkyGrid: SkyGrid" and then when some one types "/SkyGrid" the get teleported.

Sorry for taking so long, have been really busy with some school projects. I looked into your config and saw that you had set the sign timer to 1 seconds. Which is why you see "You have to wait 0s". Don't see why you would want it on one second and not just disable it or set it to something higher. Also tried the command cool down and every thing worded fine also with the portals.

If you type /rSet you will get a list of commands. There you will see that you will have to use /rSet PortalToo <TeleportZone> <PortalZone> instead of PortalTo
@TheOnlyRealTGS
I'll look into it as soon as I get time tomorrow

Posted Oct 22, 2013after creating the zone "SpawnZone", a portal zone called "SpawnZonePortal", and using the command "/rSet Type SpawnZonePortal Portal", the command "/rSet PortalTo SpawnZonePortal SpawnZone" isn't working, it simply returns "[RandomLocation] Use /rSet <ZoneName> <1/2>" Any reason why this is happening? Can the portal zone be inside the other zone? Thanks!

I have been testing a bit and the timers seams to be working. I found one bug where the portal time wasn't displaying correctly, said I had to wait 0 seconds, but it worked. Had the timer on 10 seconds and even if it said I had to wait 0 seconds I would still be allowed to teleport after 10 seconds. Other then that I didn't find anything. Could you maybe do some more testing to see if it is only with some specific settings. You could also print print the config file so I could have a look at it. Also one last thing, could you try "/version RadomLocation" and it should say "RandomLocation version 4.3", just to be on the safe side ;)

I don't know your setup, so how players normally teleport to the free build world, but you could create an alias for the zone in the free build world named "freeBuild". So that when someone types "/freebuild" they get teleported to the free build world, in case they din't see the sign. You could also use a really big portal. Guess they wouldn't over look that ;)

This is why-
I have a spawn world and a freebuild world, ideally when people first join the freebuild world (After the spawn world) Id like it so they were allocated a random spot, the sign is an alternative but most players will probably overlook it.
Thanks anyway.

I don't see why you would want it, as it would probably lead to a load of errors. Think that it would be better to enable the first join option, or use a RandomLocation sign to teleport to the world, in comparison to what ever you are using now

Oh, great! Thanks!
Do you or could you have a feature that is world specific? i.e when the player joins a specific world, the command to find a random spot is executed?
Thanks

Posted Oct 17, 2013The option to set a radius for a "zone" would be ideal, particularly when you have a very large world and want it to be one zone within a border.
e.g. /rl set zone radius
Thanks
