What is RacesAndClasses?
RacesAndClasses (RaC) was made to bring the best RPG experience to Minecraft servers. You are able to customize your own classes and races, making your server a world full of adventure! RaC is inspired by the biggest MMORPG game in the world, known as World Of Warcraft.
Core Features of RaC
- Make different races and classes
- Every part can be customized
- Change the way players chat
- Change gameplay on your server significantly
- Provide RPG experiences to the PvE and PvP environment
- Add spells, totems and other WoW items in Minecraft, without a mod
- Have players choose their own playstyle and gameplay
Plugins with RaC
RaC works with almost any plugin! Mcmmo, heroes, faction and towny. These are the most commonly used plugins for this plugin and they all work 100%
RaC offers plenty of configuration, for each individual server. For example some server owners love the teleport arrow for raiding, and some don't; so It's all up to you.
Developers guide
RaC is as mentioned, a customizable plugin, that also counts for custom traits.
This means, that any developer can make their own traits and make his/her server even more special!

Important notices
First of all: All these components can be disabled in the config!
Gravity's Updater:
For legal reasons and for uploading this plugin to Bukkit I have to mention, that the plugin has an updating service which connects to 'http://www.curseforge.com/'. This includes:
- Checking the Version of the plugin against the newest release Version.
- Downloading the newest Version if enabled.
Error Uploader:
Also the Plugin uses an Error Uploding Service, which connects to my Domain: www.tobiyas.tk.
This includes:
- Reading Errors from the error.log located at plugins/RacesAndClasses/debug/error.log
- Uploading these errors to my domain (www.tobiyas.tk)
- The Errors are visibly ONLY to me (Tobiyas) and are regularly checked to find and fix bugs faster than via Tickets.
Hidendra's Metrics:
The plugin uses Hidendra's Metrics service and sends Metrics data of your Server to the Metrics at 'http://mcstats.org/'. This includes:
- A unique identifier
- The server's version of Java
- Whether the server is in offline or online mode
- The plugin's version
- The server's version
- The OS version/name and architecture
- The core count for the CPU
- The number of players online
- The Metrics version
All these services are optional and can be disabled via Configuration.
UPDATING From 1.1.6 AND OLDER VERSION
If you use the config.raceMaxHealth: ... of a race, this has been removed with 1.1.7.
You now have to use config.healthbonus: ... (as in classes) instead.
You get 20 base health + race healthbonus + class health bonus.
UPDATING FROM 1.0.3 AND OLDER VERSION
If you use
general_saving_savePlayerDataToDB: true
Set this option to false and do a restart with the old Version. For best Use with 1.0.3 (RC 2)! This will convert all File DB related Data to YML data. If you do NOT do this, your PlayerData will be LOST!!!
If you have
general_saving_savePlayerDataToDB: false
you can safely ignore this step.
Known Bugs for Current Version (1.2.0)
Only runs on Bukkit distros using Spigot API (spigot, paper, ...).

Posted Aug 23, 2014Hi, I have a problem with RaC versions 1.1.0 and the latest from Jenkins. When a user disconnects all their armour is removed and placed in their inventory and needs to be manually re-worn when they next log in. Unfortunately things are worse, when their inventory is full the armour gets deleted and is permanently lost.
I think in might be due to the armour settings for the races? Is there a solution to this?
UPDATE: It seems that the armour in the config file is a list of armour types the race can not use. is this the correct behaviour?

Posted Aug 21, 2014I have a suggestion, maybe put in the ability for a skill to increase in power over time in the files, like this: DamageIncreaseTrait: operation: '+' value: 1.15 minlevel: 5 DamageIncreaseTrait: operation: '+' value: 1.25 minlevel: 10 DamageIncreaseTrait: operation: '+' value: 1.35 minlevel: 15 (Unless I missed how to do that on the traits page, then I apologize)

Posted Aug 21, 2014Anyone found where we can disable the display of "RaC" on the scoreboard yet? I can't seem to find it in the config file anywhere, and I'm awful tired of seeing people ask about it too. xD
If we can change it now (as per Dev release most recent in comparison to this comment/request) [8/8?], I can't seem to locate where to turn it on/off or change it.

Posted Aug 19, 2014It's not rly working. as an orc it should prevent me wearing leather clothing. if i take on full leather it only dopps the boots Oo
It also edits my PermissionsEx file and add them membership to for another group. Lets say someone joins Orc as race and picks the archer class...then your plugin adds "classes-archer" to his group. So @ least he will be in 2 groups like "Builder" and "classes-archer"

That's really kind of what I said.. "choose your battles", "pick your poison".. At this time it doesn't sound like you can run both of them smoothly. Also, are there not alternative plugins you can use that might work better together than what you're finding conflicts? Whether it be boss shop or races and classes.
If this is going to be a losing war regardless of how you look at it, you'll have to give somewhere. Give one or the other up, while you wait for an update that works or for a replacement plugin(s). I'm afraid those are the only options left at this point.

The problem being that boss shop is mandatory for my setup - I have my economy hooked up to classes (each class costs money or items), so I can't just abandon the plugin. However, the dev version crashes randomly although it's the only one that works with boss shop so it's like a pick your poison situation for me :/

All versions are buggy, you need to pick your battles with this one really. Find what works best and just go with that. As I've said there are so many bugs in this plugin you need to find a version that works best for you. If that be the one that acts up because of another plugin, but still functions over one that the traits don't work at all.. I'd say use the buggy one. Lesser of evils here...
@Murkrage
You don't add files to traitsconfig. You edit the files in there for default perimeters/functions and any other options not found in the config files, you add directly to your race/class file. Some edits will not work in race/class file and will only pull from traits, but that varies and I couldnt' tell you which those are...
As far as swords, I have no idea. I didn't write this plugin. I just pick up the slack were the dev does not.

Will do that. Quick question, why isn't there an increased sword damage trait? All weapons and tools are in there except the sword haha.
EDIT: Nevermind, found it in the default trait folder.
EDIT2: Do the customizations of traits go into the race file or do you create a separate .yml file and put that into that traitconfig folder?

The current recommended build is buggy when used in conjunction with boss shop, so I can't really use it.

Don't use the Dev builds.. They are far more buggier than the actual release for 1.7.9. I have yet to test 8/8's release on Jenkins but every version prior to that have been utterly useless as far as the amount of bugs found on them. Several of the versions the traits don't work at all. Others it's as if they exist, and some are just all around spitting errors left and right. When I find the time I will give a test for 8/8 but I strongly suggest you just stick to the Bukkit approved version to start with. I know that works with as little bugs as possible right now.

Just tried aiming at the feet and that didn't work either. If you've had it work before, could you give me a download to the trait file you used? I'm using one from a dev build and I'm not sure if it works or not. It doesn't even generate a config file or anything

I find that the best way for the plugin to read a player is if you aim at their feet. Have you tried that? For some odd reason the actually body of the player isn't recognized when attempting to interact with skills like backstab. :\
@_JustRick_
As Iced said, 1.7.9 version works fine on 1.7.10.. I wouldnt' say that's outdated. There were minor changes between the two as far as plugins and mods go, infact 1.7.9 clients can still login to 1.7.10 servers. So running this for 1.7.9 on your 1.7.10 isn't a problem.
Also, generally released dates aren't exactly something that can be given. There is always something that can come up, or get in the way of "release" expected. It's best to just wait like everyone else for an update, rather than ask or beg for one.
@Murkrage
Right now there are plenty of bugs and other things that need to be worked out before anything major changes/adds to this plugin. Otherwise just more problems are going to arise and it's going to be one big mess that will take forever to resolve.
However this is a fairly small request to make. However, I'd suggest asking for this in ticket form as comments tend to get "washed away" with all the help requests these comments tend to get. :\

You can find dev builds on his Jenkins which are updated very frequently (the last one being on 8/8)
The 1.7.9 build works fine though on 1.7.10

Posted Aug 15, 2014Hello Tobiyas and danmark2312,
I am Admin in charge on KnightCraft RPG. We use your Bukkit plugin, but is outdated as our server has been updated to 1.7.10. Could you give us a release date from the version 1.7.10 of your plugin?
Greets.
Rick.

I tried with an empty hand and all three kinds of apples, and it doesn't seem to work. There also doesn't seem to be a config file for it in the Traitconfig folder.

I run this with Infernal Mobs, but I do not have any issues with the two together.
@ASCIIcat
Disable it in the Config
@IcedEclipse
Have you tried with an empty hand or an apple? If I recall by default the trigger item is an apple.. If you haven't changed this in the trait's configuration file, it would be that..

Posted Aug 14, 2014Can someone explain the backstab trait to me? I tried right clicking with a sword (on a player) but it doesn't seem to work. Is it mob only, or am I doing something wrong entirely? This is how I've set up my trait, by the way: BackstabTrait: blocks: 25 strength: 1 duration: 5 cooldown: 10
Thanks for any help.

I'm actually seeing that the armor restriction is not applied to any armor item. I'm curious as this was actually working in previous versions. I've tried both "armor: Gold, Chain, Iron, Diamond" and "armor: gold,chain,iron,diamond", but doesn't seem to work. =(
