QwickTree
QwickTree v 2.2.4
What Is QwickTree?
QwickTree is a permission supporting plugin that will harvest the whole tree when the bottom block it destroyed with specific tools (see the default config)
Features
- Harvests the whole tree when the bottom block of the tree is destroyed with config definable items (stone axes or better, by default);
- Checks within a certain area of the tree for common "house" blocks - so your log cabin can stay standing! Can be changed in the config. NOTE: This will not stop them from destroying the tree, but it will stop the player from harvesting the whole tree.
- Replants Sapling when the tree is chopped down - replants all 4 sapling in large Jungle trees!
- Permissions support. Permissions can also be disabled in the config.
- Now supports protect regions. (Only tested with WorldGuard so far)
- Ability to Disable & Enable the plugin in-game all users, or individual users without needing to reboot the server or mess with permissions.
- Drop vines when they are attached to or near the tree.
- Bottom level of leaves are not destroyed on Jungle trees only.
- Tree Specific drops, e.g. Only Oak Trees drop apples.
- Ability to stop QwickTree from chopping down tree types.
- Damage support for the entire tree - so chopping down a Jungle tree won't act like you only hit one block! All items that take damage will be damaged - even a bow or golden helmet!
- Maximum size limit for a tree. Your sacred 10,000 block tree is safe from vandals.
- Logging in grief-logging plugins - so you can see who chopped down the tree. (Only specific plugins supported so far, see below for details)

OK. Number 2 is in there, for the next release.
I'm currently working on the third one.
As for the first one, I could do this in two ways, which do you think would be the less confusing of the two?
Keep it as it is, but add in an extra bit on the end of the current leafDrops to specify the tree type, e.g.
where:
or would the following be better:
Maybe with other specific drops, I just haven't thought of them yet.
I think the second of those would be a little easier, but I could do the first one if it will be less complicated for server admins to understand.

Posted May 2, 2012Thanks for the last update! This thing has made wood chopping finally bearable on our server. In fact, it's nearly perfect.
I just have a few requests, but in my view they are optional:

Posted Apr 26, 2012Hi,
I was just wondering if I made the right config file for having Minecraft's default droprates. Currently I'm using:
with
Is this making the following?
Sapplings: 6.25% chance, Apples: 0.5% chance, and I'm not sure what the 0 is for but if I remove it each leaf block will drop tons of loot...
Thanks in advance, this plugin is great. It's working unlike TreeFeller and ChopTree that make the server crash instantly.

Ah yes, I forgot to put that in. Should be sorted now. All I have really added is WoolTrees support, so chopping down the bottom piece of brown wool will chop the whole tree down, but it may still contain bugs.
As with tree specific drops, I'm working on it, and that should be done in not too long.
The link for that is http:dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/qwicktree/files/8-qwick-tree-v1-1-1/ if you wish to download it.

Thanks for the update! However, I did not notice the two versions in this release as in the last. I was using the no sapling version which causes proper wear on your tools. Is this option still available?
What were the extra things that come with the update? I was very interested in those:)
Could we have tree type specific drops for the fruit as well? Perhaps cocoa from rainforest trees and apple from apple trees or something?

Did I miss the release files? I can't seem to find the 1.1.1 released version for download.

Right, that problem should be sorted now in v 1.1.1 It will drop wood specific to the trees if just "17" is specified, and it should work with block data, for example "17:1"

Posted Apr 20, 2012yes tried placing the block and breaking it no go. and i tried giving it a value 17:1 still no good
also as a suggestion maybe a way to make the leaves drop different wood blocks maybe there can be a group set for each leaf type. that way each tree can drop the correct wood block from leaves

Yes, I noticed that having a look at it earlier. I plan on releasing another update within this weekend (if testing goes well), so it seems a little pointless to upload another one for now. But the next update should fix that problem, and will come with a few extra things too, but I'll let you guess on that. :)

I had this issue when adding 17, 20 to the config. The issue is that you must supply a data value or the plugin supplies an invalid one. So, 17:0, 20.
Perhaps it would be better if the plugin defaulted to a zero data value?

I think I know where this would be happening, and I shall have a look at it. Have you tried placing the block, and then destroying it, to see if it will put anything down?

Posted Apr 19, 2012i added wood blocks to the config for leaves and we can not craft them into planks , the ones that drop from leaves. im sure this has to do with there being now new ways to craft wood blocks into different type of planks

Posted Apr 19, 2012When you release it as "open source," I would strongly suggest that you release it specifically as free software under the GNU GPLv3.
See http://www.gnu.org/licenses/quick-guide-gplv3.html for more information.
Open source software is not necessarily free software.
Note when I say "free," I mean free as in freedom, not free as in "free beer".

That would be perfect. Thanks!
[EDIT] Actually, it might be nice to have per tree type configs. For example, birch trees drop apples currently. Only Apples trees ought to imo.

By where I said "Now supports protect regions", I meant that if a WorldGuard or redProtect (maybe others, I haven't tested any other ones though) region is set up, and the player cannot normally destroy or place blocks, then the player will not be able to chop down the tree.
If you would like a little bit in the config where you are able to specify tree types that it will either not automatically chop the whole tree, or stop the block being destroyed (you'll have to let me know which one), then I can certainly add that into the code for the next update release.

If you want to drop Logs, you can add "17, 20" (or something like that) into the leafDrops part of the config. I can then add in a part of the code that will check for whether Logs are in the config, and then make it specific to the tree type.

Posted Apr 17, 2012Thanks for this! It is just what we were looking for. A few suggestions have been made to improve it even further:
Could you add a feature to allow drop configs that are specific to tree type? Could you add optional weighted drops of extra logs matching the type of tree chopped. The real big issue for us is the yield of wood for trees chopped (we use A TON of wood). If we could give a chance of sometimes increasing that our tree chopping would be perfect!
