Quester

Quester is highly customizable plugin handling all kinds of quests. From simple "gather to get reward" quests, to complicated forked story-telling quests. What is even better, everything is customizable on-the-fly directly in game ! No more restarting/reloading your server every time to change something. Localizable messages, plenty of different, highly-customizable objectives, conditions, events and flags. NPC and sign support. All this together creates almost unlimited possibilities.
Found a bug? Have a suggestion? Sumbit a ticket.
Don't forget to specify Quester version you are using and label the ticket appropriately. Tickets without label will take longer to review or be ignored completely.
Latest DEV version should be working with recent minecraft versions. See dev builds.

The reason why it was originally made to use names was to make respawning "mob packs" easily configurable as an objective. I may add secondary option to set target id.

I just noticed that the '/q obj add npckill <#>' feature is broken, I kill the npc but do not get credit. This is integral to my quest lines. plz help.
quester version: 0.7.1-snapshot
citizens version: 2.0.11-snapshot (build 1053)
craftbukkit: 1.7.2-r03-b3020jnks (mc:1.7.2)
sentry version: 1.8.0

/q obj add npckill 'unique npc Name' (-h)
this works but perhaps for another update the npcid could be an option. I have several npcs with the same name.

Dummy objective already exists in 0.7. There's also an event to trigger it. If you want to trigger it manually from the code, I suggest looking at what that event does here.
All <*>Manager classes are generally a safe way to modify things in quester, and their public methods can be considered an API. However, I will most probably be moving all "messenger/display methods" to a separate class in the near future.

i basically want to make a custom checked objective, so i want to basically make a dummy objective, then test it with my own code, then trigger it somehow

Posted May 2, 2014Here is the private response from some time ago:
The most simple solution will probably apply here. As a user, you don't need to be concerned about required under the hood changes, so from your perspective, quester will be able to load player profiles with both player's uuid and player's name, but will save profiles using uuid. It will most likely work like that for few versions, to make sure everyone updates.
In case you are concerned about inner workings, I will most likely just change all string map keys to uuid keys, and also change all affected methods accordingly.
