Persistent-Nicknames
Persistent Colored Nicknames
This plugin allows players to set nicknames for themselves that will stay over server restarts and player logouts. The nicknames also have color code support, even the special formatting codes such as magic text, bold, italic, underline, and strikethrough.
Commands
- == Nick yourself ==
- Permission: nickname.use or nickname.global
- Command: /nick <nickname>
- == Turn off your nickname ==
- Permission: nickname.use or nickname.global
- Command: /nickoff
- == Nickname someone else ==
- Permission: nickname.use.other or nickname.global
- Command: /nicko <otherplayer> <nickname>
To Do:
- Add realname
- Add blacklist (Configurable)
- Add per-player nickname use disabling (Configurable)
- Add nickname character limit (Configurable)
Warnings
As of right now, the different config files perform different functions. The config.yml stores the nicknames.
Update
I have updated the plugin! It now includes:
- Blacklisting nicknames
- Nickname character limit
- Nickname indicator (You can turn it off if you like)

Posted Oct 29, 2017When I added my nickname, it displayed fine but when I closed my server and joined back a few hours later, it said that I had joined the server and my nickname was displayed but when I typed a message in the chat, my nickname was not there and all was there was my username with no colour at all. Solution?

Posted Jan 17, 2015I enjoy the plugin, but it keeps giving my server the following error: Could not pass event PlayerJoinEvent to Nickname v0.1.2
Would it also be possible to add a display that lets the player know that the player know that the command was successful?

Posted Aug 23, 2014Suggestion. To prevent people from abusing /nick, can you add something so people can do /nick and it automatically picks the name for them. So maybe in the config we could list names that we want /nick to randomly choose

Posted May 25, 2014can you use it to make it so certain ranks can only put a limited number of color codes in their nick name? for example guest can put one color code, citizen can use two, and donators can put three color codes in their nick name? Then this would be exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks for your time!

Posted May 21, 2014I'm sorry that I haven't been able to update this project for a while, I lost access to my BukkitDev account. I just fixed the error, and I'll upload it when I get to my computer at home (I'm at school).

Posted Mar 16, 2014Now which build exactly is it that I'm supposed to use? Like which number because I've been trying the beta build of 1.7.2-R0.2 and this doesn't seem to work, then again you also don't have an installation guide here either, so I dunno if I'm doing it right.
The problem is the fact that the server cannot even open the jar that you gave me, so am I supposed to extract the files or something? Or what? Which build # do I use? I'm trying to use puld #2974 and it's not working. Respond ASAP.

No, and no.
I will make an option in the settings file so you can chose to have the nicknames show up in tab in the next version.
And teleporting is impossible without modifying the teleportation plugin you use, or making a new teleportation command in my plugin (Which would not work because it is PURELY a chat plugin). In v2 of the plugin (I uploaded it nearly two days ago, it's just taking bukkit forever to approve it) you can use /realname <playername> to find out the real name behind a player's nickname.

Posted Jan 9, 2014Quick question; does the name change in tab-list and is it possible to teleport to the nickname or do you need to use the real name?
