Feel free to open pull requests, but try to keep the changes per PR minimal to reduce the time required to review them. If you have larger or more complex changes in mind, feel free to contact me to discuss them before you start working on them.

But this can certainly be improved. If you want to help with the documentation, feel free to contact me and send me your Github username.

Paintball is a fast paced and action packed multiplayer game.
In the classic TeamDeathMatch mode 2 teams compete against each other to bombard each other with snowballs. Once a player is hit, he's out and automatically leaves the arena and has to wait in the paintball lobby for his mates to finish and the next match to start. In the Paintball lobby you will meet all paintball players, choose your team and wait for enough players, or the end of the last match. When all conditions are met, a countdown starts which announces the next match.

Basic-Features
Paintball is constantly expanding. There are more and more features added which have not much to do with the classic paintball game. But do not panic: According to your personal preferences you can modify or disable most things in the config.yml in the Paintball folder.
- No client or server modifications or additional plugins are required !
- Multiple Arenas: Build as many arenas as you like !
- Complete freedom on what your arena looks like! As Paintball does not care about your arenas borders, your arena can have any shape and layout, as long as it is impenetrable. Simple build some sort of wall around your arena to keep your players inside.
- Multiple Spawns: Paintball lets you define multiple spawn points for each team (red, blue, spectators) !
- Automatic-Lobby-Arena-System: The Paintball lobby will automatically rotate through all your ready arenas. No need for administrators to be online !
Limitation: Currently there can always only run one match at a time.
- Easy: No complex setup needed ! Only 4 commands and your arena is ready and added to the automatic arena rotation !
- Mechanism to strictly seperate Survival and Paintball and to prevent "cheating" in and with Paintball.
- Easy and individually adjustable small Shop, where you can buy ammunition or other special and unique "weapons", gadgets and power-ups with the Paintball-Cash earned during the matches.
- Ranking: Your players gain points to compete with each other !
- Various statistics: examples are Points, Cash, Kills, Deaths, Hits, Shots, KD, Accurancy, Teamattacks, Wins and Defeats for each player, each arena and as a whole.
- Toggleable Killfeed ! Turn it off if it spams you !
- Most stuff is configurable ! For advanced information click here.

Easy integration on every survival server!
Our main target is to keep this plugin easily integratable on any standard survival server without disturbing the survival feeling. Players shall not be able to swindle items or gain other advantages over survival players through Paintball.
Here you got some sort of overview what actions are taken to protect the survival-part of the server:
People with the 'paintball.admin' permissions node can bypass some of them.
- Prevent commands that are not related to Paintball. So player can't teleport or use commands as a benefit.
- Prevent breaking and placing of blocks.
- Prevent dropping and picking up items, or dropping the armor.
- Options to let players only join with full health or hunger so they can't escape during fights.
- Options to save the players inventory when joining the lobby and restore afterwards.
- Paintball inventory is cleared when leaving the lobby.
- Turned off damage and starvation inside the lobby.
- Many things can be disabled if they create problems with your other plugins.
- Explosions do no damage to blocks.
- Only Paintball players receive the Paintball messages. Your other players will not get spammed.

Additional information
Hint about version checking and stats collecting:
This plugin is checking dev.bukkit.org for new updates. This can be disabled in the config with the setting "Server.Version Check".
This plugin is also doing some periodically stats tracking to mcstats.org which helps me to determine how many servers are using it. This can be disabled with the setting "Server.Metrics".
And the plugin is also sending some stats to blablubbabc.de to maybe prepare for some kind of later serverlist (a list of paintball servers). Currently those data are only stored in a non-public mysql table on my server.
- This means that this plugin is sending some general information about the minecraftserver, like: ip-adress, port, servername, slots, motd, bukkit version, if server is in onlinemode and if it has whitelist enabled.
- And some information about paintball like: how many players already played paintball there and if it is an paintball-only server (autolobby enabled) and if the server admin wants the server to be listed at some kind of public server list later, when it is finished.
→Those data are currently only send once every reload.
→ For people who don't want to share these informations with me :( → you can en- and disable this in the serverlist config (plugins/Paintball/serverlist.yml) with the setting "post enabled"

Whats your servers ip?
How did you think this should work with pushing a button and via commandblocks ? Can't they keep spamming the button ? And where will they find this button ? In the paintball lobby ?

I removed the possibility that this command can be run from anything else than a player, because this was mainly used to automatically give donation rewards etc. through that, which is not allowed. Why exactly do you need this ?

This plugin can do that too. Since the first version. Check the config -> "Lobby join.Checks". Checks are enabled by default but you can disable all you want there if you think they do not cause problems for you. Maybe I will change it to default disable to avoid confusion in the future..
If a player can freely teleport into/out of the arena I assume he is an admin. Paintball also block commands of normal players (still you can allow certain commands via config), so they shouldn't be able to use command that lets them teleport away while playing or interfere with other plugins via commands..
Everything mentoined is already added -> check the config for these features
You can disable every check (full health, empty inventory, gamemode 0, etc..) you want in the config. Let me know of some of these concrete exploits! Because I know none if you properly use the command blocking feature. Onyl admins can bypass the command blocking.
Simple clearing (and saving in memory) a players inventory is potentially dangerous as the players inventory can get lost if the server crashes, something doesn't work, other plugins interfere (think about world inventory plugins which probably COULD interfere). Thats why I chose to by default disable these behavior and offer it as option in the config. Better save than sorry. So if you as admin think, everything will work fine and you are okay with the risk of inventories potentially getting lost -> disable the "clear inventory" check and enable "save inventory" (which potentially can also be interfered by certain plugins. Multiverse Inventories for example did interfere with this feature for a long time and this was, as far as I know, just recently in one of the last versions fixed... just as an known example of that it depends on your other plugins if they work fine together. You can't simple expect every server running the same plugins and that the plugins properly take care that they work together..).
Again -> check the config for this setting. Everything is already added. And I use inventory saving for example myelf on my server ;-) But, for example, I also have a plugin on my server that handles gamemode inventories and that does NOT run fine if I simple disable the gamemode check.. Giving me my survival inventory when I join the lobby which then is lost when I again leave the lobby.. So it really depends on your other plugins if you can simple disable these checks... Thats why its off by default.

Many users seem to not know the potential features of this plugin and simple skip to another one if it doesn't work like expected for the first time even though there is a config setting for nearly everything. So i think about changing the defaults (only leaving the need to have full health, maybe even add a value that defines "how many health they at least need", or adding autiomaticaly saving of health etc.) to avoid confusion in the future...

Posted May 28, 2013Most plugins that are like this one let you join without making you switch gamemodes, clear your inventory, and eat until you have full health before joining. They also have built in protection systems so that players can not just tele-port into arenas when they are not actually in the game, tele-port out of the arena in-game, or use commands that are not necessary in the arena that could potentially be used to exploit the plugin's relationship with other plugins to gain an unfair advantage. I have never made a plugin and have no idea how hard this would be to implement, or your reasons for not implementing these features, but it is something that I have come to expect from plugins like this and I think most users have as well. Your plugin is very fun, but the difficulty in joining is more than slightly annoying, and I must be on constant alert for potential exploits players could use in the arena. I know coding plugins must be really hard, but so many other plugins let you join and leave without thinking about it and just restore your inventory when you are done, that I am sure there is some open source code out there that you could modify and add into paintball. I have this plugin and mob arena on my server and players seem to enjoy paintball and Mob Arena equally, but they rarely join paintball, as frankly, it is a huge pain in the ass to join compared to Mob Arena.

Some arenas are in the same world as the lobby. These arenas are running smoothly. The arenas are in another world are problematic. Thanks proves it.

In which world is your lobby located and in which worlds are your arenas located?
In your config: is "TeleportFix" set to true or false? Try the opposite and test if it works better.

This is not caused by Paintball, but by a plugin called 'Craftbook' or something like that. It also has a config option to disable this behavior.

Posted May 26, 2013right now we have the problem, that our arenas are flooded with snow from the snowballs untill they are not playable anymore and an admin has to remove all the snow with worldedit. Is there a way to stop the snowballs to stack snow on the ground?
