OtherDrops

Make anything drop anything, anyhow!
Minecraft 1.7 features (click)!!
OtherDrops allows you to add anything from a simple "glass drops glass" or mob rewards, to a complex overhaul of your servers drops with drops differing depending on tools, biome, time, weather and much more, along with custom messages, actions and commands.
OtherDrops is lightweight* (it only acts on what you configure) and respects most protection plugins (eg. WorldGuard, Regios) settings. Many examples are included that you can enable and/or customize as you wish.

Help Wanted
Would you like to help improve OtherDrops? Here are some ways to get involved:
- Media/art: OtherDrops could really do with some tutorial and example videos.
- Testers: Testers who are able to go through the plugin and rigorously check that things (both existing and new features) work as they should. PM Zarius your Skype (or other IM) details if you're interested or jump on the IRC channel.
- Programming: any assistance is welcomed - see the todo list here for some ideas. Anyone with refactoring and/or automated testing experience that wants to assist would be great.
Thanks
Many thanks to these people who helped with OtherDrops:
- Cyklo: creator of the original OtherBlocks. OtherDrops is a continuation of Cyklo's original OtherBlocks (2011) plugin.
- Celtic Minstrel: many code commits and a major overhaul of the code moving into version 2.0. Moved on to create DropFactory.
- Rofang: major update of OtherDrops documentation.
- RugRats13: lots of testing and some documentation.
- Faldonboy & Steelsouls: currently maintaining and improving the documentation.
- CommodoreAlpha: community support on the comments/forum, assisting with documentation.
Many long nights are spent improving OtherDrops so if you like it please consider a donation to my coffee fund :)
- OtherDrops uses Metrics for anonymous usage stats (learn more).

Posted May 4, 2012ok its been 16 days since Zarius has even been on bukkit. Please tell me someone is still working on this project. it needs some work on its current release and i know its a lot of time and effort but this is hands down the best drop system known to Minecraft. I have made so many great things with this plug-in. i hope he or someone else picks up this project and fixes the problems with it.

Posted May 4, 2012Im trying to get a block to act like a tv for my server something like hit it with a redstone you get the weather during the day, and then a text episode at night.
Is there anyway I can make it so it can only do one episode a night and not repeat or.. at least show one episode at a time?
Block: time: day weather: clear tool: redstone message: " looks like it will be clear skys"
time: night tool: redstone message: " Something Episode 1
blah blah"
I know its not formatted correctly but its just the general ideal with more then one episode
is there anyway to make this ideal work?

Posted May 4, 2012@MCCharlieCraft Yes.I use 2.5.1 before. I updated it just for avoiding hurt animation. It seems that the block-drop works fine. Only animals and mobs have this problem. For testing , I tried to remove some plugins which can/may effect creatures.I'll remove all the other plugins and test OtherDrops in PC today.

Apologies for the super-long post
I find that funny because I have the default drops disabled successfully on several things without any problem. This bug obviously doesn't affect everyone or is only there under certain circumstances, I don't use drops groups at all so that may be why I don't have any default drop bugs but I do have them disabled on some mobs and even some region specific areas
(enderman NEVER drop their default for example and it DOES work, I also have all mobs set to deny drops in my mob arena region because MA wasn't preventing them on it's own.)

Use version 2.5.1. There are bugs but they are harmless, and you can modify the default drop.

Posted May 4, 2012@MCCharlieCraft I got default drop bugs too in using 2.6b1...I really love this plugin. It can become the core plugin of a server,I think.
Now I'm hoping for bug fix or update. And check the plugin on dev everyday.

The bugs we speak of affect the default drops.. If you want to stop the default drop.. you cant. It is not possible. That is the bug in the current version. There is a ton of things you can do with this plugin. So it is entirely possible for 10 different users to have 10 different experiences.
Modify the default drop of anything and watch 2 sets of items drop. You can not get rid of the default drop. Pretty big bug if you ask me.
Considering its been over a month without anything but a buggy beta build for 1.2.5 I don't see how asking the dev for an ETA, or providing ppl with explanations on how to work around bugs present is considered being impatient.....

Posted May 4, 2012You guys talk about all of the bugs the plugin has but i've been using the latest version since it came out and haven't experienced any of the bugs i've seen posted :s I really doubt the plugin has been discontinued so just be patient.

If your willing to deal with the damage animation happening to your players on every modified block break you can use version 2.5.1
The damage animation that happens to players seems to be the only real issue with the version that I can find on any of the drops I make. It does irratate players and can be a pain having to explain it over and over.. but in the end its a harmless bug. Annoying but harmless.
That is what I am using for now.

I am having the same problem. Blank messages pop up when using drop-groups, default drops sometimes are totally off, it's all very strange. I hope they're rewriting everything and making it better than it ever was. Otherwise I'll also have to get rid of it though it was such an awesome plugin that totally made a unique server!
Also a bit frustrated, Folas :(

Posted May 3, 2012Soo.. is this plugin discontinued now? Its current updated form does not work properly, and its outdated has bugs that make general users confused and irritated when taking damage animation.
No word has been posted by the dev other than there will be an update next weekend, and that was 3 weeks ago.
So is this plugin discontinued now? Just curious... I have a hole server based on this plugins features, but just cant launch till its working. Guess I will just scrap it. :(
Forgive my frustration, its just this seems to be happening to almost every plugin these days.

But when I set the tool to 0 (zero), I get an error message when the config loads:"Unrecognized tool"

But now it no longer works. If I swap out tool: AIR for another tool, then it works. I also tried HANDS, but still no workie. Is there another tool I can use to represent breaking the leaves with empty hands?

You can use World Guards black list to prevent your players from placing ore as blocks.
