OtherDrops

Make anything drop anything, anyhow!
Minecraft 1.7 features (click)!!
OtherDrops allows you to add anything from a simple "glass drops glass" or mob rewards, to a complex overhaul of your servers drops with drops differing depending on tools, biome, time, weather and much more, along with custom messages, actions and commands.
OtherDrops is lightweight* (it only acts on what you configure) and respects most protection plugins (eg. WorldGuard, Regios) settings. Many examples are included that you can enable and/or customize as you wish.

Help Wanted
Would you like to help improve OtherDrops? Here are some ways to get involved:
- Media/art: OtherDrops could really do with some tutorial and example videos.
- Testers: Testers who are able to go through the plugin and rigorously check that things (both existing and new features) work as they should. PM Zarius your Skype (or other IM) details if you're interested or jump on the IRC channel.
- Programming: any assistance is welcomed - see the todo list here for some ideas. Anyone with refactoring and/or automated testing experience that wants to assist would be great.
Thanks
Many thanks to these people who helped with OtherDrops:
- Cyklo: creator of the original OtherBlocks. OtherDrops is a continuation of Cyklo's original OtherBlocks (2011) plugin.
- Celtic Minstrel: many code commits and a major overhaul of the code moving into version 2.0. Moved on to create DropFactory.
- Rofang: major update of OtherDrops documentation.
- RugRats13: lots of testing and some documentation.
- Faldonboy & Steelsouls: currently maintaining and improving the documentation.
- CommodoreAlpha: community support on the comments/forum, assisting with documentation.
Many long nights are spent improving OtherDrops so if you like it please consider a donation to my coffee fund :)
- OtherDrops uses Metrics for anonymous usage stats (learn more).

Thanks for that - I thought that too, though oddly enough on the main bukkit download page it's not available - goes straight from 1.1-R6 to 1.2.2-R0 as brezeeger mentioned.

R7 is a 1.1 Release that has lots of bug fixes for people wanting to stay with 1.1 and not update to 1.2. That way, they get the bug fixes, yet can stay with 1.1

I can't speak for everyone else but I've been testing against 1.2.3R0.1 but that option wasn't there when I posted the file originally. I've updated it to show the newest version now.

Posted Mar 7, 2012This is probably not the proper place to ask, but I am thoroughly confused. I see plugin releases for CB 1.1-R7. This is not the only plugin releasing for R7. What is R7? Looking at the download page, it jumps from 1.1-R6 to 1.2.2-R0 and then there's that whole slew of 1.2 stuff. Is R7 the same as 1.2.x? If so, that would be positively astounding as I could then update my server as the "important" plugins are already updated!

Hmm. Firstly down to the syntax - OCELOT_WILD wont work (although it would be interesting to try and make it work) as data values (eg. wild, redcat, etc) need to be after an @ symbol - ie. OCELOT@WILD.
CREATURE_OCELOT & OCELOT (case insensitive, with or without @WILD at the end) should both work but you've tried both of these and it didn't work? I specifically tested these as working in the 2.5-pre2 but perhaps something new broke - will test it out tonight.

Posted Mar 7, 2012Using Beta 1.2 Bukkit, OD 2.5 Beta1
I just noticed that CREATURE_OCELOT doesn't appear to work. I tried a few different syntax's, OCELOT_WILD, WILD_OCELOT, OCELOT@WILD, OCELOT, but none seemed to drop anything, or throw an unrecognized error. I tried CAT as well, but still nadda.
With OCELOT@WILD, I did get this message in console, but no drops:
[OtherDrops:2.5-beta1] Checking ocelot data: WILD
And with this one - OCELOT_WILD:
[OtherDrops:2.5-beta1] Unrecognized target (skipping): CREATURE_OCELOT_WILD

Glad you like the plugin (I love ultra-rare drops too, that's a good way to write it for the feature list :)).
Diminishing returns (ala MobBounty) is planned, as is the spawner protection. One of my "to-do" items should be "update the to-do list" :D
@ezbik
Thanks :)

I use this with Vault and iConomy with no issues. Mobs drop money, economy picks it up. I use ChestShop for players to buy and sell, if this helps. If you need config tips, let me know!

Posted Mar 7, 2012I've been running MobBounty on my server, but since the author seems to have vanished, I've been looking for an alternative and OtherDrops looks spectacular (the ability to add rare and ultra-rare mob drops is awesome!)
One major feature of MobBounty was diminishing returns (killing the same thing repeatedly would give you less and less money over time), which helped prevent exploiting.
I checked the 'To Do' issues list and didn't see anything along these lines - is there any chance a similar feature will be added in an upcoming release, or is it further down the road? Just trying to figure out if I should switch plugins now, or keep looking for another MobBounty alternative.

Posted Mar 6, 2012@All - I'm looking into Vault support, except it in a release soon.
@Spodi2290
Hmm, not sure about that one - I'll have to look at what event exactly that it triggers.

Posted Mar 6, 2012Is there a way to define a drop for breaking a boat through a crash with land? It triggers with "ANY" but then it drops also with everything else...

Posted Mar 6, 2012Since it still uses Register for economy, it may be Vault-compatible; I know Vault has some support for Register, but am not quite sure how that works.

Posted Mar 6, 2012If that's not happening for anyone else, then it might be because of my particular setup. (might be my cb build of the double plus variety #129 - hint - *sigh*) And yes, it happens a lot... I believe every time someone kills a mob, but I never verified that... the theory is consistent with the frequency and pattern, though. And I only have two custom drops right now: sponges and cauldrons.
Plugins: WorldBorder, LagMeter, PlugMan, WorldEdit, JukeboxControl, CommandBook, PermissionsBukkit, BOSEconomy, ChannelChat, Vault, Multiverse-Core, Stargate, BananaChunk, LogBlock, WorldGuard, dynmap, Dynmap-WorldGuard, PhysicalShop, CommandHelper, Dynmap-CommandBook, Deadbolt, OpenInv, Lockette, RedstoneClockDetector, iChat, CleanroomGenerator, Multiverse-NetherPortals, VanishNoPacket

Hmm, tracked that bit down in the code and can't see why it would be failing there. Does that message appear often?

Thanks - I've created a new ticket (see the link under your comment) and will look into it.

Posted Mar 5, 2012When either any of my players, mods, or environment drops items, they ALWAYS group together, as stated in your parameters "dropspread: Determines whether drop quantities greater than 1 are deposited individually (otherwise they will be grouped into a single stack when dropped). Can be set to TRUE, FALSE, or a percentage (eg. 50%) for randomized odds of dropping individually. Default: TRUE" It should spread every dropm into individual items, not one single stack.
Here is my default settings (not sure if I set this up right, but I have tried every possible combination I can think of)
