OtherDrops

Make anything drop anything, anyhow!
Minecraft 1.7 features (click)!!
OtherDrops allows you to add anything from a simple "glass drops glass" or mob rewards, to a complex overhaul of your servers drops with drops differing depending on tools, biome, time, weather and much more, along with custom messages, actions and commands.
OtherDrops is lightweight* (it only acts on what you configure) and respects most protection plugins (eg. WorldGuard, Regios) settings. Many examples are included that you can enable and/or customize as you wish.
Getting Started (tutorials)

Help Wanted
Would you like to help improve OtherDrops? Here are some ways to get involved:
- Media/art: OtherDrops could really do with some tutorial and example videos.
- Testers: Testers who are able to go through the plugin and rigorously check that things (both existing and new features) work as they should. PM Zarius your Skype (or other IM) details if you're interested or jump on the IRC channel.
- Programming: any assistance is welcomed - see the todo list here for some ideas. Anyone with refactoring and/or automated testing experience that wants to assist would be great.
Thanks
Many thanks to these people who helped with OtherDrops:
- Cyklo: creator of the original OtherBlocks. OtherDrops is a continuation of Cyklo's original OtherBlocks (2011) plugin.
- Celtic Minstrel: many code commits and a major overhaul of the code moving into version 2.0. Moved on to create DropFactory.
- Rofang: major update of OtherDrops documentation.
- RugRats13: lots of testing and some documentation.
- Faldonboy & Steelsouls: currently maintaining and improving the documentation.
- CommodoreAlpha: community support on the comments/forum, assisting with documentation.
Many long nights are spent improving OtherDrops so if you like it please consider a donation to my coffee fund :)
- OtherDrops uses Metrics for anonymous usage stats (learn more).

Hmm, doesn't really fit in with the core of OtherDrops being "drops" - but it's a really cool idea so I'll probably add it anyway :D
You could alo wire up redstone item dispensers and/or mobspawners.

I'm not asking how to catch mobs with a pokéball, I actually have a config I like much better than those, (in fact I think I was the first to suggest the idea.)
What I am asking is: What would be a reasonable way for players to acquire the item known as a pokéball. Like should pokéballs fall from trees?

Here's a selection of pokeball configs: http://pastebin.com/fW6r5zfx
@F4BSE
Here's an example to make snowballs drop dirt when being thrown and hitting anything.
@Abnormal_Zombie
So many glorious, sound-making redstone contraptions would be made!
@ZariusT
I am so excited to try this! Absolutely fantastic idea! :D

Posted Mar 9, 2013@ZariusT I've just realized (facepalm) that you cannot have two things under the same heading
This however poses an issue when you want to use multiple different include files, that effect the same target, is it possible to make that possible? Or am I doing something wrong?
Secondly, would you consider making this possible to do this in the future?
Finally, the documentation has the example spawn reason as "SPAWN_EGG" which does not work, instead it should be "SPAWNER_EGG"
@ Everyone Else
Can anyone think of a logical way to get pokéballs on a mostly vanilla server?

Posted Mar 8, 2013Latest build (check the devbuilds link at top of the main page) has a new parameter:
sound: <soundname>/<volume>v/<pitch>p
Where soundname is anything from the official bukkit sound list (including any future sounds they add). Volume and pitch are optional. Example:
sound: ANVIL_BREAK/10v/1p
Also - new builds are now automatically announced to the IRC channel.

Posted Mar 8, 2013@gepardo43 Try the code below. It creates reapers with a max health of 21 (instead of 20), so that it can be identified as a different skeleton. All skeletons with a max health of 21 will drop a diamond.

Hmm, otherdrops is trying to check if the arrow has a permission, which doesn't work :D I thought I'd fixed that error but I'll work on it again for the next build.
@Grillhamsta
Not sure why that is, I'll do some local testing of the permissions later.

Looks like somebody killed a creeper with an arrow. Not sure what the error is though, but at least that's what is causing it I think.

Still doesn't work. People without the "miner" permission get the default drop instead of nothing.

Should do - perhaps try "permissionsexcept: miner"?

Posted Mar 7, 2013did i understand correctlx, that if i set something up like this:
REDSTONE_ORE:
- drop: DEFAULT
replacementblock: COBBLESTONE
permissions: miner
quantity: 1-2
dropspread: true
tool: [IRON_PICKAXE, DIAMOND_PICKAXE]
- drop: NOTHING
permissions: [-miner]
replacementblock: REDSTONE_ORE
the plugin will check if you don't have the "miner" permission and will give you the "NOTHING" drop.
because if so, it doesn't seem to work...

Actually, no - nothing broke... seems ranges just aren't supported in the target. For now you'll have to do a separate group for each one (eg. crops@0, crops@1, etc.).
It's quite a big change to add this with a good chance of breaking something so I'll leave it for the version after next (as I'm currently working on reducing bugs for a release). Can you post it to the feature request link at the top of this page?
