Orebfuscator
Orebfuscator - Anti X-RAY:
For all releases of 1.9/1.9.1/1.9.2/1.9.4/1.10/1.11/1.12.x/1.13.x: Version 4.4.3
Now with support for CraftBukkit 1.9/1.9.1/1.9.2/1.9.4/1.10/1.11/1.12.x/1.13.x!
This plugin is used to counter X-RAY Client mods.
It modifies data that are sent to clients to hide blocks of your choice, such as Ore, chests, dungeons, etc.
It does not manipulate blocks in the world file, thus is safe to use.
ProximityHider is a feature that hides chests that are far from players.
As of 4.3.3, Proximity Hider has been enhanced to use line-of-sight checks, not just proximity! Upgrade today.

Also, Orebfuscator might take some extra CPU, but there are ways to decrease the load caused by extra calculation. A few changes in the configuration can reduce the load dramatically.

Yes, there is a permissions node that can be given to players to allow non obfuscated chunks be sent to them.
What I mean is that Orebfuscator makes anti-xray fully automated, no admins necessary whereas the WorldGuard approach will require online admins and moderators. No need for behaviour tracking and ratio tracking which are based on statistics and probabilities.
To sum up: Why keep track of statistics like behaviour, ratios and making judgement calls on how lucky somebody is (subtle x-ray hackers can be hard to catch), when we can know for sure with Orebfuscator that there is no possibility of hacking at all.
Also, another problem here: If players join and starts x-ray hacking, and you have Orebfuscator, they will not be able to do anything, whereas if Orebfuscator is not installed, they will likely get caught, which means instant-ban in most cases. This means that with Orebfuscator, the server can keep its clientele without x-ray hacking being a problem at all, whereas behaviour tracking services likely results in banning and/or punishments, which then results in more subtle x-ray behaviours that might be harder to detect. If you then apply Orebfuscator, the hacker might have written some of the locations down before hand.

Given the approach of Orebfuscator, i would think it highly unlikely to cause anything at all...
Do you have other plugins that manipulate block breaking/placing (Spout, some mmo stuff maybe)? What build of CraftBukkit are you using ?
I had some other block-duplication issue somewhere before CB 1940.

Is there not a permission for having people see the map normally ?
If that saves CPU, people could give that to trusted users. Though that is the other way round as suggested.
I am using a ratio based approach (DarkTrace) coupled with WorldGuard ore-break notifications on a smaller server, but it is kind of tedious to follow people all the time and ratio based approaches also need constant forgetting of the data, to keep track of current behavior and not some average thing (building a mob grinder, then xray). To have a version track strange user behavior and then activate orebfuscater it would need to check more than just ratios (mining periods, probably discovery paths towards ores too).

Posted Feb 21, 2012Hey lishid, Don't know why youtube is a pile of crap and wont list my video. Anyways the dupe bug is VERY real and my players had infinite iron blocks amongst other things once they stumbled upon this bug. I am going to try very hard to get youtube to work so you can see for yourself.

Ok a few points here:
1. You would have to keep track of people's behaviour. This plugin is effective because it forces everyone to comply, instead of looking at their behaviour and then deciding.
2. Players can just mine towards diamond, write down the location, then mine them all at once.
3. Players can use a separate account to do the previous mentioned act.
4. Before a player is considered cheating, they will receive un-obfuscated chunks, meaning they could have used a mod to download the world file.

This video has been removed by the user....
I believe that any potential 'dupe' bugs that could ever be caused by Orebfuscator is client-side only and probably is only graphical...

Posted Feb 21, 2012Video Link below if you don't want to read this bug report.
I have found a potentially bad duping bug with Nolagg and Orebfusicator (I believe it is these two conflicting). Basically certain random areas become affected and the following occurs: Blocks placed stay in inventory AND are placed in world (causing dupes), Left clicking causes Orebfusicator to update the area with stone, and right clicking makes the stone blocks disappear. Also, using Orebfusicator's /chunk command, clears the fake stone after a delay. This all started when I first installed Nolagg with Orebfusicator, (in R3 Build) and I have used orebfusicator for quite some time with little issue, so I believe this is a conflict. Hope this helps!

Posted Feb 20, 2012Anyway to add support for tracking finding rates on ores and then ONLY obfuscate for those users. I'd assume that would take less CPU to do as the number of chunks sent would be reduced by a ton.
edit: Expanding on this lets say you have someone with a 32% diamond success rate... now this guy is an obvious xrayer and even if he isnt it wouldnt hurt him anymore than anyone else to obfuscate his packets sent to avoid the possibility of him being an xrayer.
Most people have a maximum of like 6% success rate legitimately and this is VERY rare.

this cracks me up. Months of history on this project. But one HerpyDerp can come along and declare the whole thing to be bogus just because they can't get it to work like 1000s of other admins can.
people are so funny sometimes. Nice work, @lishid! I'm looking forward to trying out the new version tonight.

InitialRadius to 0 and remove them from TransparentBlocks.
@HighlifeTTU
It shouldn't affect memory, okay, maybe just a little. It's mostly there for people who are having problems with too much file handlers open.

Well, since your world is that big, you can disable caching if you need to save space, but it might take more processing time for your CPU. How many players do you usually have?

Dear friend, I have a 5000x5000 worldborder, and a 3gb orebfuscator_cache, which is perfectly fine. However I have a question, will my cache get any bigger still? I was wondering this because I am getting an ramdisk of 10 GB i think.. and my total minecraft directory is 5.6 gb, including the 3 gb orebfuscator cache uses :)
Thank you <3
