It modifies data that are sent to clients to hide blocks of your choice, such as Ore, chests, dungeons, etc.
It does not manipulate blocks in the world file, thus is safe to use.
ProximityHider is a feature that hides chests that are far from players.
As of 4.3.3, Proximity Hider has been enhanced to use line-of-sight checks, not just proximity! Upgrade today.

It's a stripped down version with only the core obfuscation algorithm.
Mode 2 doesn't take more CPU. maybe like 0.1% more than mode 1.

Chest being stone is a feature called ProximityHider, which hides chests from xray until players are close enough to see them. You can disable it in the config.
What's your view-distance? Set it to less than 6. Also, leave compression at 1, having it higher will significantly take CPU.
Finally, Orebfuscator should not affect TPS at all. If it does, then you're hosting too many players on a very slow machine.
Show me your config file.

Posted Oct 6, 2013Alright, today I tried the plugin out. And what I get was lots of glitches and lags... Here is the list of glitches: Blocks of stone will suddenly turn into the blocks I set to be randomized. Chests turn into stone sometimes and only return to normal when hit. When blocks are broken, they will reappear. They take at least 2 times to really break it.
And here's the biggest problem. After a while having this plugin installed, massive lag started to happen... The TPS dropped from 20 to 18 then 12. Command takes a few second to actually work and players get disconnected by end of stream errors massively... This became such a problem that I uninstalled a plugin... Can someone tell me a fix for the bugs and how to config it so it is the least laggy (Suppose I want every single CPU). At the same time hide all the diamond ores... Spawners... Chests... Mossy cobblestone and mineshafts.

Orebfuscator uses your other free cores on your server to process chunks, so it doesn't impact the game at all. If you're just concerned about wasting electricity then sure, but there are no reason to worry about orebfuscator taking CPU much as long as you don't change the config to some crazy values.
The best way to minimize CPU is to reduce view-distance in your server.properties file. Reducing that value by one or two is usually more than enough in CPU usage reduction compared to completely disabling orebfuscator.
@iGamingStudioX
Engine 2 is much safer. With engine 1 some smart hackers can still get around.

Posted Oct 3, 2013And also, is engine mode 1 or 2 better? I like the way engine mode 2 Orebfuscates everything but I am afraid it will use to much CPU time...

Posted Oct 3, 2013Can I know just which cobfiguration will decrease CPU usage... I only need a few features and I want as much free CPU as possible, not just 'not laggy'. And also, how much CPU will the plugin use compared to other plugins? Can you please give some examples and configuration that decrease CPU usage? Please.

Default configuration should be good enough for both. Just install the jar and it should start working after a restart.

Your server should have plenty enough to run orebfuscator on default settings. If it lags then you can trade-off some protection for performance, but I highly recommend default setting to start with.

Posted Oct 2, 2013Hello, my server has 6GB of RAM allocated to it and I want to install Orebfuscator. However, I do not want a decrease in performance. How should I configure or what can I do to have least amount of CPU lost. I have around 15 plugins and around 6 important ones, the rest are all small ones like OpenInv, SaddleCraft or Announcer. I will remove Vault if I install Orebfuscator and I also use RemoteToolkit. Please tell me how have max performance. Thanks.

Using a InitialRadius 1 or more. There is no way of hiding all ores and showing one layer of ores... It's a contradiction.

It prevents using texturepacks to find ores, but so does EngineMode 1 with InitialRadius 0, so you don't really need it anymore.
It does let players use transparent texturepacks to find bases and caves though.

So with AntiTexturePackAndFreecam disabled players still can't use invisible texture packs and freecam to find ores?,
Thanks for all, you helped me a lot :).

It will interfere with InitialRadius 0 since it fakes random holes in the world, but will be shown to the players.
