I looked it up a half year ago and i was pretty sure it wouldn't work. But i am not absolutly sure.

Well I would assume so, it still uses the death event and I'm sure they would because it would be more reliablity and support for other plugins, most likely if you setup a onDeath method and checked last damage cause to be DamageCause.CUSTOM (Assuming they use custom) you can use that to stop the message.

If you use Essentials, it isn't possible to turn the suicide message off probably.
